I read it. Well, the last two issues of Until We Sleep, anyway. Couldn't find the first very first issue in paperback.

What do you want to discuss? It was pretty depressing. :crying:

I'm not sure how people are managing to twist Gaider's words about Alistair having children and get them wrong.

I roughly remember his post and he explicitly said that Wardens have a chance, albeit a pretty low one, of having children with non-Wardens.

He then went on to say that two Wardens having children naturally is impossible. Two wardens having children unnaturally and I think his words(though this is prob a random example he made up on the spot) were something like "a Tevinter fertility ritual" is an entirely different story.

I heard about imports, I know that no matter what, Alistair (as the Grey Warden) reffers to the Warden as friend (even when romanced). For one I'm happy - I picked PC version of DA:O (and so will DA2 follow), as modders fix SO many things that I feel sorry for console boyos. There's a mod that fixes imports.

I think of getting DA2 asap to be brought up to speed. Is it as disappointing as they say?

I finally got around to playing it and yes, I got the darn "It belongs to an old friend" line.

It wasn't as bad as I'd heard. (Even the guy at the game shop warned me that it wasn't much like Origins.)  I enjoyed being in the world of Thedas again, and I liked the combat.  But the lack of companion interaction constantly reminded me just how good DA:O is.

Maybe I'll read the books while I wait for Inquisition.

I got the romanced line in DA2 when Alistair was a grey warden. Something like "this belongs to the love of my life". I am unsure if it was a mod that fixed it OR if it was just working right on my PC.

Probably a mod. You know how broken these games can be about those things. -.-"

I just got to that point with an import that was my CE that left Anora on the throne and Alistair a warden and the DR was performed. The line I got was the "old friend". Alistair was not hardened. I wonder if making Bethany a warden has something to do with it? Or making Carver a warden, in the case of a mage.

In games with a "GW" Alistair cameo I always make the sibling a warden (since it means more face time with the family). So that may indeed have something to do with it. I haven't ever encountered the "old friend" line, only the "love of my life" one--well, in games where I import a romanced GW Alistair.  I haven't finished a playthrough with my King Cousland import yet.

DA2 is buggy when interpreting DAO relationship states from imported games, if the import is from DAA or another DLC... as I understand it, the romance flag is absent (since there is no romance in the expansion or DLC) and cannot be imported. So... Alistair (or Leliana or Zevran) will "forget" that the Warden was the love of their life, or that they ran off together... I've used this fix, and gotten the correct dialogue from romanced Warden Alistair (mage!Hawke, Warden!Carver). [video] Now, that was an unhardened!Alistair, but I don't believe that DA2 distinguishes between hardened/unhardened for him at all.

*headdesk* I've had this fix for over a year and never installed it. *beats head on desk some more*

Edit to add: I installed it and the line now fires just fine. I got the "love of my life" and "she finds stuff like this all the time". I've never imported from anything but Awakening because I've heard of even more problems cropping up when you import from Witch Hunt.

God bless the mods, they have really added some wonderful material into the story.
Does anyone else have installed the "Alistair Rose" amulet mod? Cause it does not seem to be working for me...

I used to, but I never got to test it before my PC had its nervous breakdown.

If it's this mod, I've used it in *thinks* two games(?( without any issues. (Which reminds me that I wanted to whip up a version that spawns automagically instead of using the console... *opens up the toolset*)

He is very squee worthy indeed! I had intended my latest warden (A dwarf commoner) to either romance Zevran, or to go it without romance. And Alistair just SUCKED me back in. I have no willpower at all.

From Cmessaz's IRS Alistair mod, introducing Natia's beau to her big sis, Rica.

lol I checked it out. He looked really good, like Alistair, and at one point (1:02) he actually sounded like Steve Valentine to me. The cake also looks yummy, I may try that when i finish my diet.

So I am moments away from fighting the Archdemon. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Make sure you use the ballistae. They're very helpful in taking off large chunks of the Archdemon's health. Try to keep your tank on the Archdemon's flank - that way he/she avoids the breath attacks and any tail swipes.

Thank you BevH.
Um, whom should I have in my party?

You need one rogue for when the ballistae jams. You only need the ballistae in the second stage of the fight although some players use bows and arrows. I don't know how they do that. You should buy the Spirit I think there are salves from Sandal that resist the Archdemons breath. Also there's a helmet from a general that's spirit resistant.

Yes, definitely a rogue - either yourself or Leliana usually unless you've been putting points into Zevran's cunning (for ballista repair). A tank (I prefer Alistair myself) and a mage for ranged damage/heals. I don't use the buff potions myself and there's usually gear that can give you what you need in that regard, but to each their own. :)

Ah yes, that's a tricky fight.

Don't forget you have armies of allies to call on. I usually summon one for that fight. Dwarves seem to do well. They're tough and magic resistant (important since you have several enemy spellcasters there).
