Have an Alistair, Gush Thread. ![]()

And another one. (Can't have too many Alistairs, am I right or am I right?)

There can't be enough naked scruffy Alistair ![]()
Oh and just to revive this thread a bit, I wonder what headcanons people have about Alistair? I see there are some aspiring writers among us and I would like to hear if you have some personal headcanons about him
I'll give it a go: He's a big guy, not less than 6'3'', sort of a gentle giant. A bit clumsy at times (those damn traps). And his zodiac is Pisces.
I'm sorry if it's lame but that's why I need some inspiration ![]()

6'1 - my human females are same height... so... I can't give him more than 6' with the boots giving him another inch and blaming the rest on .. angle?
I'm trying to find some love for him again. I lost it after discovering he has a thing for elves. So now I'm playing a CE since I'm tired of marrying him just to rule the kingdom since clearly my noble is much more suited to it.
I see him more as a leo... lots of pride, big ego, stubborn as all hell, very family oriented and super sweet and caring once you get past his rough exterior... kind of have to pull the splinter out of his paw first though.

I just started a new playthrough (with a rogue f!cousland) and this time I'm actually planning to put Anora on the throne and let Alistair stay a warden, my only concern is: do I still harden him or not?(personally I prefer him hardened) Is it better for him to remain unhardend if I'm not going to make him king? How do the events of the Landsmeet affect hardened/unhardened Alistair who is going to stay a warden?
Never harden him if you aren't putting him on the throne. He's sweeter and not bitter that way.

He also has a thing for dwarves, if that's any consolation. (The "Even though I'm not human like you?"/"Especially because of that." dialogue is available for dorfs, too.) Or maybe that makes it worse... ![]()

For me he would be about 6ft. Zodiac I would say Cancer, family and loved ones are important to him. He's gentle and compassionate but will defend whats right and whats important to him. And he and my elven wardens are so perfectly cute together. My wardens are always a bit sassy and protective of him and defend his right to be who he wants and in turn he is very protective of them and sensitive to how they are treated by others.

I never get tired of marrying him becausr of dahlia lynn's wedding mod :-)
That's only for human nobles right?

Not better for my human. Right now she's thinking he has a thing for other races and will make due with humans.

Yeah, I am holding out hope that something comes up for a non noble/royal wedding. I want a warden wedding ...

Yeah. Dahlia did not want to change that cuz she wants to keep it lore friendly.
Such a bummer. Could have been a wedding for other races in maybe the forest or something. Small with just the companions and your warden walks a path alone or something. Even at camp because there are a few camp jokes. The warden could marry. There's nothing anti lore about them marrying as far as I know. Just that it would never be a royal wedding. Just a simple mod, not really elaborate at all. Just because the writers didn't bother with it doesn't mean it's not lore friendly.

I imagine that he is more drawn to non humans initially because he has had the rough end of the stick from humans all his life.
The human female warden of course gets his attention because she doesn't treat him like the others have and he quickly falls for her just as much as a non human.

This could logically explain the especially because of that. Yeah, I can actually see that now. I didn't think he would make such a sweeping generalization to ALL humans but it could work. Maybe he would feel more like another race would be better to him but that's really kind of messed up... Humans were mean to me so I'm going for elves or dwarves....

It's probably not intentional more (habitual (?). Humans have let him down so much so up go the guards, and maybe doesn't even think a woman would pay too much mind to him. And maybe feels a little less guarded to those who are also poorly treated by humans.
Then your human female comes along and changes all that.

How does your human Warden even know what he says to a non-human love interest? *tsm is confused*

I know when I play my human warden so it bothers me. My human warden doesn't know but I am the one dictating their actions and my human warden feels my strong impulse to slap him on the face as if he's been mentally fantasizing about elves while sleeping with and professing his love to me.
I'm playing an elf right now trying to process this. It totally broke my stride. HELP ME! He was ideally with my humans. Preferably me as his queen doing all the running of the country with Fergus and letting Alistair handle the army being rebuilt and even overseeing the rebuilding of the cities though we visit together. Sometimes with a mage, they run off happily in love as wardens. But mostly as king and queen because he really doesn't want the life of a warden and she wants a rest after the blight.
I had a Dalish elf that returned to her clan, to help build a new life for them on their new lands, and Alistair happily went with her. They finally built their real home that he told her they would have again. ![]()

That's sweet! Is that an ending for the dalish elf? I can't remember if I finished my dalish elf. I think I switched characters.

Alistair has been featured in several of my fanfics. One as a King (Surana former romance, they broke up, she ends up with Teagan), one as a wandering lost soul trying to get over the grief of losing his Dalish love to the Archdemon, (US), without the duty as King to keep him moving forward (in that one he sports a Duncan-esque beard). In another, a collaboration story with Lady Damodred about drunken Alistair redeeming himself with a new life.
In all, I picture him, about 6', scruffy to out and out bearded, depending on how well he takes care of himself. But through it all, that quality that is "Alistair" shines through all his states. A man who loves and protects those he cares for, and does so with such timeless grace and beauty, it's as natural as breathing to the man.

I've yet to do the US. Came close with one. Maybe I'll do it with this elf since the end game is just that they wander off. Oh wait I did it with Loghain in the Male cousland run. But have yet to do it with a female or alistair.
