So, I'm playing Dragon Age Inquisition, and for the first time this playthrough I decided to have Alistair as a Grey Warden (who romanced Warden!Amell)

How do you get the letter from the warden? So far I got the mission only on the warden who romanced Morrigan (she contacted him). I can't figure out how to trigger it on any other? My preferred state is King Alistair with Surana Mistress.

Alistair triggered the war room mission this time around- I asked about the Warden and he wanted my Inquisitor to warn her. Leliana will trigger it close to the end of the game if neither Warden!Alistair nor Morrigan are close to the Warden.
So is it true that King Alistair/Mistress Warden don't even get a shout out?

My first playthrough had King Alistair/Mistress Warden
And no, I didn't get a shout out at all with the Mistress Warden. King Alistair's cameo is brief and I don't recall anything in his letters on the War Table about the Warden. And while I heard that Queen Cousland's letter acknowledges her relationship with the King, Mistress!Warden doesn't say anything about him.

They do. You can check wiki for the letters they send to your Inq. 
Having said this my Queen sent only generic letter. No mention of Alistair.

Huh, I must have missed it, then. My mistake. Would you happen to have a link? I'm not having any luck searching for it on my own.
Anyway, I swung by to say "hi" to Alistair after I did a bunch of side quests and the letter was received. Warden!Alistair has some more squee-worthy stuff to say about the Warden 
.
Hmmm I will have to ask Leliana the next time I do my King Cousland run (if I ever do). Grey warden Alistair isn't the same when you don't romance him. I get the feeling he and my boy (who were as close as brothers in Origins) have had a falling out. 
But Leliana had some sweet words for him (the same ones romanced GW Alistair has).

Clicking out before Alistair dies - I would do the same thing. 
Only ever killed him once and that was by mistake on my first playthrough of Origins. Never again. I couldn't. Gotta love metagaming.
Also I couldn't find the letters from HoF to the Inquisitor, tho' I have read them somewhere. And now I'm thinking about it King/Mistress not sure of the response in the letter.

I'm still playing Origins at the same time - just to pander to my Alistair cravings. 
Not sure if this is in here anywhere. I found a bunch of these posted on David Gaider's tumblr thread so I'm sharing:

If Alistair was mentored by Duncan, it would be pretty cool to read some stories of the two of them before the events of Origins.

No, they did not.
Some of the dialogue is repeated for all three, but Alistair's lines, because of his personal involvement in the 5th Blight and knowing the HoF, gets special lines the other two don't. In particular if he was romanced. My Warden Alistair WS was a King Cousland, and he wasn't romanced, of course, but he even had special lines for that. Kind of saddened me actually. I ended origins with the two of them as close as brothers, but apparently 10 years created a breach between them. He said my boy was 'following a dark path'--which I think probably meant an allusion to the Dark Ritual, but still the way he spoke of him, not very brotherly/chummy.
Leliana spoke the same romanced lines (since I romanced her) that Alistair gets if you romanced him and kept him a warden in Inquisition. Have to say I prefer Romanced Alistair's warden cameo, although his king cameo in the game is awesome. Not going to spoiler any of it in case anyone hasn't done Inquisition yet, but both are really good.
