That realism is what hit me so hard, and what I love.
I chose to have my Amell let him go because it was more in her character. She wanted him to succeed and was too proud to be a secret mistress. They were so young when they met and fell in love under very drastic circumstances. By the time DA:I comes around, they've both spread their wings and grown in their own ways. Her biggest regret would probably be how it ended. 5-minute break-up, kingly duties, then convince him to have sex with Morrigan immediately after. Not the smoothest breakup.
Yes my fav way to play it is have Amell choose the greater good since that's who she is, and someone who never puts herself first, so she has him marry Anora and go through with the ritual because though she can't be with him, she loves him and wants him to live and be the good King she knows he can be, and she too wants to live so she can help keep her homeland safe until her Calling (or as we now know in DAI, seeks to cure it).
