So my FHN Ryal and Alistair finally spent the night in her tent! It was completely unexpected because she didn't ask him, he asked her. We'd finished getting the aid of the Dalish and made it back to camp when he asked. It was just such a surprise.

Person we leave in Fade becomes a villain. Hawke surpasses that because he's badass and oh because he doesn't have the Taint or something. But villain Alistair yesssssss. Yes, the 'correct' decision in DAI would be to send the Warden character to take care of the Wardens, and Hawke to 'fall so he can learn to fly', thanks Flemeth. Especially with Stroud who most don't care about, we'd have a sad thing in DAI (sending Hawke to 'likely die') but that's only to stave off an even sadder outcome in DLC (Warden character gets corrupted/transformed into something bad/whatever).

Wow! It's a pitty David Gaider won't continue in the Dragon Age franchise. I wonder if there would be more games after all,and if there are more games,I hope it doesn't lose its essence.

 

I love Steve's Valentine voice, it's nice to see him talking about Alistair.

Its a tough choice for me, but in this hypothetical scenario, I see it as a fair one.

 

Lots of people don't like Alistair as much as people on this thread. Lots of people hate or love Hawke. Lots of people want more tragic drama, while lots of people want more blatant heroism. I think this scenario can allow for a whole mix of results and roleplaying, a balance that Bioware achieves when at its best.

For the record, I have Alistair as King with Anora and I saw him on the Mage path, so if I see him again it won't be involving the Fade (maybe other DLC), at least it doesn't seem so. I had Stroud and Diplomatic Hawke in the Fade, and I left Diplomatic Hawke there, giving Varric the sads. Stroud led the Wardens, I forgot what I did with them and I haven't actually finished the game yet.

 

I just have no issue with the 'die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain' concept. Its been a decade since DAO. I'm okay with characters getting more 'complicated' to deal with, and I LIKE Alistair.

Oh I don't know about that. Someone posted a bioware survey on the most popular companions and Alistair was right on top. And I doubt we have even 40% of those who voted on this thread. Specially now that this thread is a hell of a lot quieter than before. Hell I did not even know about the survey til it was over.

I couldn't leave my Warden in the fade.  I will have to leave Hawke behind even though it will break Fenris' heart.

Nah i get what you mean :-) yes drama! I finally had the courage to sacrifice him to the archdemon 2 yrs later, and it was saaad! But the epicness of that last kiss on fort drakon was soo sweet that I had to replay again and again. I don't know anymore if it was from vanilla or a mod I installed. I have too much mods on my dao that I don't even know what's what anymore :-(

Although I have Alistair as a King and I had to choose between Hawke and Stroud, I had a hard time thinking about it, I saved Hawke, but I thougth I would regret it because for me, the most logical option is to save the warden to help rebuilding the order, also because in that moment we believe that Corifeus has and archdemon on his side, and only grey wardens can kill them...

LOL you know what? i was so upset that I will break Fenris' heart that in the play i will import for this specifically world state , my Hawke ended up with Anders .. Anders can console himself with justice/Vengeance XD

We're leaving a 'physical' person in the Fade, and Alistair/Loghain/Stroud have the Taint (which makes them a Grey Warden). So we've brought the Physical Taint into the Raw/Physical Fade. There is no longer the Anchor tethering the person to Thedas etiher. If the character dies, there's all sorts of things that could happen, it is just hard to theorize what happens. 

We could hypothetically have a Fade/Whatever related DLC in post-game that reveals what happens. Justinia herself was the case example of what could happen to a person who dies within the Fade, 'physically'. They die. But they also don't. Its a matter of perspective.

 

So 'likely die' in the Warden quest is IMO a careful wording. We may be allowed to believe the person to die, or live on in another form.

 

I'm just more confident about Hawke being more kickass about it (especially with Flemeth line foreshadowing in DA2), than the Warden character. Mostly because of the Taint being in the Warden.

 

This is all just theorizing, but this was a theory that I already considered months ago, so to have this video released now... well, I'm just prepared to see an Evil Alistair, more or less. A Demonic Alistair. Whether this is entirely bad is still unknown - remember that DAI itself has tried to establish that things aren't as black-and-white as they earlier seemed. But an Alistair that can be understood as basically a villain is something I'm now quite ready for.

 

There's a lot of story we may be missing. I'm really only saying that we may not have seen all of Alistair yet. To hear his VA speak so much about playing villains... yeah.

My default is King Alistair, so Warden Alistair isn't in the cards for my Inquisition (though his cameo is cool as a warden).  Not an issue for me tbh as I have little to no affection for the alternative wardens who turn up in that scenario.
