@Xetykins: well you know, when I first played DA:O I had absolutly no doubt I would execute Loghain, and I had no remorse for killing him at the end. BUT I was curious to see what happens if you take him in your team, it's quite original to have this opportunity to have the antagonist in your party. Later, I learned more about the character and he was deeper than I first imagined. That's why this time I would like to give him a chance. He seemed a lot sweeter and calmer in DA:I, too, I think he evolved well.

@Sylvanaerie: I would be glad for Alistair if he could meet his mother and understand that she made the choice she thought was the best for him. Even if I think it's a bit late, maybe at 30 years old he is more mature and ready to know the truth.

I guess that's what fanfiction is for, but I don't read a lot of fanfic.  Few have the skills to be both good writers and get the characterization just right.  Most of the time, I may enjoy it but in the back of my head I'm thinking "So-n-so wouldn't act this way..."

Yes most of the characters evolved the right way, I wonder if some of them might become "worse" than before.

Cullen also had a nice evolution.

My tastes evolved too. I'm older now so I prefer more mature characters, I guess.

Usually I don't read fanfictions either, but some of them really try to keep the characters like in the story without changing them too much.

Cullen is one of my favorite characters in the franchise, who has experienced a wonderful character evolution (I love that descriptive!), without compromising his faith or his core values.  In every appearance he's uniquely and recognizably "Cullen".

One of the nicest parts of playing Origins on the PC was I got to use a mod to add to the little attraction in the Mage Origin and got to 'backstory' that my Surana and he had a clandestine puppy love going on.  It included a couple added scenes (all PG rated, nothing too M) and added to my Surana's (canon) story.

Inquisition meant I had to play a Dalish mage who romanced him. :D  I think one of his lines if romanced references the Surana (possibly the Amell as well) he had a crush on and his regret at how things ended.

I've read the books too and I liked Loghain there. But while books Loghain is all about freedom, the games version is slavery and lies and power. So I judge him accordingly with how he acts in the game world.

In the books I'm totally down to smooching Loghain and make him all like "Rowan, who?"

Just because a person was a hero, does not mean he can commit atrocities and still be one. I think that being defeated on a one on one combat is probably better than having his soul totally destroyed.

I'll play the smallest violin for you when you play the Trespasser. Then make you the nicest cup of hot choccies. :P

This.  So much this!  One reason I dislike WC or Redemption endings.  If I'm gonna not do the DR, it's my own warden, calling the shots who will die.

Also those two endings are lame as heck.  The PC gets a nice funeral.  Loghain and Alistair get forgotten and they throw a big party. <_<

Indeed. Even the rest of your companions are nonchalant about Alistair's death. My lawd... even Wynne.

@Xetykins: no spoilers for Trespasser please, I just started it, for the moment I like how it starts.

Well I don't plan on sacrificing Loghain to the Archedemon or to the monster in the Fade f DA:I, I will do a "Loghain survivor" playthrough this time  :P

Haven't played it yet, I'm more upset about Teagan's Frostbite evolution.  It's downloading now.

Only 15$ for Bioware to p*ss in my Cheerios, but I gotta know what's gonna happen.  Let me play it though, no spoilers please (especially not in an Origins thread). ;)

Don't worry, I dont have that dlc yet. I'm not planning on buying it till I finish my completionist TW3 play through. I'm trying to stretch these games because there's no new game that I'm looking forward to til ME4 next year.

If that fails I can always play DAO again for more Alistair.

I have to finish TW3 too, haha, I stopped in the middle to play to DA:I...

@Sylvanaerie: well I was dissapointed to have Stroud as a warden in DA:I... I didn't really like Hawke, but I didn't know Stroud so I sacrificed him. So next time I'll make a very ugly Hawke and like this I'll have absolutly no regret at all to keep Loghain safe  :P (maybe I'll try with Alistair too).

Just debating if I should start a whole NEW character to play through inquisition and be my canon for playing the DLCs (I haven't played any yet, been too sick), or just pick up my old one and play her.  I hate picking up old characters (especially one I didn't do everything on anyway).  My canon is gonna be my 'complete every quest I can, find everything I can, do all puzzles etc' character.

In the Dragon age keep you can change the choices so like this you don't have to play everything again (I mean the other games), but I guess you meant playing again DA:I, right?

I will, with a new Dragon age keep story, one where my elf warden sacrificed against the archdemon, Alistair married Anora, Loghain survived (don't want him to have sex with Morrigan). I want to see the change when Morrigan doesn't have her son in DA:I.

I'll side with the mages like this I will see Alistair's and Anora's cameo, too.

It's a really good one.

Yea, I meant replay Inquisition.  I've only completed 3 plays of it, but my first one (who will most likely be my canon) was hardly even close to complete as I was stumbling around trying to find stuff and probably missed 50% of the story/quests.

Been battling breast cancer and chemo saps away most of my energy.  The IV meds are over, but the oral ones (while not as violently reactive) still have many of the same side effects.  This the longest I've sat one time at the PC in a while, but I've really been enjoying discussion with you. :D

Oh, sorry :( I hope you will be able to rest and feel better.

My first playthrough was quite complete so for my next ones I won't bother with the shining shards of DA:I and concentrate on the story.

I also post it here because there's Alistair!

A stupid idea I had after trying my spider form for the first time and running after Alistair like this, saying "kiss! kiss!"  he seemed suddenly less motivated, I don't know why?  :P

LOL Arachnophobia!  I hate those spiders in the deep roads.  Cringe every time I hear them clicking.  And I like spiders!

I had forgotten Morrigan can teach you Shapeshifting.  After initially learning it, she never would teach any of my subsequent wardens for some reason.  Good thing unlocking it works through all playthroughs afterward.

It must have bugged on me.  It was so long ago, I don't even know what I did to learn it initially though I know I had to learn it from her.  I had it when I started Awakenings, and I recall there were books in Awakenings to get the specs you might not have gotten in Origins.  That's how I finally got Reaver since I could never bring myself to defile the ashes, even if it was just for the spec.

Maybe once you have it, unlike the other companions, she doesn't teach it on subsequent playthroughs?

I did a mage playthrough long ago and with high approval she accepted to teach me.

But now, even with high approval, she doesn't want to. But I could learn it anyway. Strange. I'm at Lothering so maybe it is too early in the game for her to have the dialogue?

Last time I remember I could transform at the battle of... I forgot the name in english. Eamon's village.
