I did a mage playthrough long ago and with high approval she accepted to teach me.

But now, even with high approval, she doesn't want to. But I could learn it anyway. Strange. I'm at Lothering so maybe it is too early in the game for her to have the dialogue?

Last time I remember I could transform at the battle of... I forgot the name in english. Eamon's village.

Redcliffe.  Sounds like you have the same issue.  When I asked her to teach me on subsequent characters she looked at my warden like she was insane.  Maybe she knows we know it already.... ;) Morrigan is one crafty swamp witch!

Well the problem is that I can't really take her in my team because she disapproves every time I try to help someone. I need to leave her at the camp because of that... and anyway I play a mage with almost the same skills, so that's fine, I'll take Oghren/Zevran/Shale, it will be fun. But for the moment I do with what I have  :P

Morrigan will only agree to teach her spec when her approval is low. (Neutral and below 25, per the wiki, and it is probably a bug.)

Here's an Alistair because on-topic and all that... I just fed his girlfriend to the Archdemon (again) and it made him sad.

She could make him drunk, too, that would be a long-suffering Alistair as well.

Ok, well the bug was maybe fixed, I could learn Shapeshifting without Morrigan.

Well the spec opens up once you unlock it for use on all subsequent playthroughs.  Even on PC, if you uninstall and reinstall the game, it's still unlocked (as long as you logged in to the servers here so it could read your info on the boards).  The part that made me scratch my head was everyone else, Zev, Leliana, Alistair and Oghren all teach the spec each time, even if it's already unlocked, and you gain some approval I think for the interest you showed them?  But Morrigan wouldn't.

Or maybe when morrigan knows you're buddy buddy with Alistair as the game goes on, she'll refuse to teach you :)

And as others have mentioned, once any spec is unlocked, you don't need to 'learn' it again. That's why tomes for unlocking them aren't available for subsequent toons if you already learned the specialization during an earlier playthrough.

I think a companion's 'can you teach...' conversation option remains available for unlocked specs because it would be a coding headache to remove it.

Learning a specialization can also be a roleplay device... for example, my Cousland Warden, Moira, is a S+S Warrior who I like to play as a Champion/Templar... much like the traditional build for Alistair, actually. I could give her Templar @ level 7, even though Alistair doesn't ever like her enough at that point to 'teach' her... but I don't - despite the spec being available and even though it would really be handy for annulling the Circle.  Rather,  I prefer the roleplay of establishing a friendly relationship between Alistair and Moira and his finally acquiescing to instruct her in all things Templar as the foundation of their romance.

(Because nothing says 'romance' more than two people dressed like this:

No, my Ultimate edition does not recognize my old saves from my normal DA:O, so it couldn't see that I learned shapeshifting in another playthrough...

Are you linked to the same account on the BSN?  My game was uninstalled and reinstalled on my computer several times but I only had to learn it once on my initial run.  To access it, I had to log into the servers here, but once accessed I didn't even need to log in every time.  The information was saved here, not on my computer.

Yes I connected my account to the servers... but I don't think I did it on all my other runs before, so...

and why the icon of DA:O doesn't appear under my picture on this forum? (oh yes now it does! it had something to do with the linked account?) my ME1 icon doesn't appear, though.

Now all you need to do for a little fun is either:

drop something on the ground they'll both go to pick up, or,

drop something thru the letter slot.

Less 'evil' and more exasperated... and that passes for a romantic, starry-eye gaze in the Moirastair 'verse. He usually looks at her like this. :P

I'm guessing that Alistair is a duel wielder? I could never do that, I like having another tank around (in case the enemy decides to attack my mages/rogues).

Yep. My female Cousland is a sword-and-board warrior, so 'her' Alistair is a high-dex DPS-ing dual wield off-tank. I wouldn't spec him that way normally, though.

Looks like he's got starfang. Can't starfang anymore since I can't get RtO and I only get SP thru console commands.

But that is the my favourite Alistair morph.

Eyebrow o' doom. My Cousland get's that quite a bit. She just pouts and bats her eyes and Al is putty.

Yeah... Starfang and Maric's Blade. He gets all the pretty things. (Makes up for the ugly girlfriends I keep tossing at him... swords are better than  broads anyway. )

And Rak's Alistair morph is the best (that's the one in first few screencaps)! I used that forever, until I got the silly idea that he HAS to have stubble and that the stubble needs to get progressively heavier throughout the game. Then I made my own. (The morph in the last screencap.)

Have you tried downloading and manually installing the DLC?  The wiki discusses the issues a lot of players have been having with DLC not installing properly on this page.  Starfang happns by having Warden's Peak installed and you get the 'superman' cutscene then take the metal to the smith in Wardens' Keep.

http://dragonage.wik...ntent_(Origins)

and if this isn't the issue, I apologize for wasting your time.  :)

I wonder what's up with all these brown eyed blond guys in Dragon Age.

Alistair, Cullen, Anders... it's just weird. What usually would be the exception seems to be the rule here.

We have exemples in the real world, but none of them are natural blondes.

In DA:O I always thought that Cullen was looking too much like Alistair. I prefer the way he is in DA:I, clearly.

I see people say this all the time (Alistair and Cullen look alike in DA:O) and perhaps I'm blind or stupid, but I just cannae see it:

Their facial stuctures aren't at all alike, their colouring is barely similar... but then too, many many people say that Alistair and Anders look alike, and I don't see that resemblance, either.
