ALL I WANTED WAS TO TALK ABOUT ALISTAIRS POSSTIVE SIDE! But that isn't happening.

What you are experiencing  is (sadly) the usual cycle for this thread. It's dead, someone revives it, people who like Alistair make some posts, someone who hates him shows up to poop on the discussion, mud gets flung around, Loghain and Anora are suddenly being mentioned more than Alistair, more Alistair-haters show up, the Alistair fans throw up their hands in exasperation and leave, the thread dies, and the haters consider they've done a good day's work.

 

This is (new) BSN. We can't have nice things.

 

ETA oh dear... top. Is 'top' even a thing any more? Best be safe... *rummages through edits folder and yanks out this old thing*

Now, that's funny, if you really like Alistair but dare talk about any of his flaws, you are a "false fan who pretend to like him", in fact you can be believed only if you blindly like the character and deny his flaws?

And please, stop calling " haters" anyone who dare say one negative thing about him. ONE person pops up and talk about his mistakes and you cry? Do you know how it feels to live that all the time in every thread, being one against ten at the same time? I don't think so. But it's what the fans of Loghain live and why most of them deserted this forum.

So having one or two people from time to time talking about Alistair's flaws is nothing in comparison... You have hundreds of his fans to back you up.

But when you're a fan of Loghain, you have no one. That's why we tend to put even more energy, to compensate

Oh, and I'm typing from a phone, too x_x and have only two playthroughs, so no, I don't "save Loghain all the time".

I'm not here to start a war, we should just put that debate aside and consider none of us can convince the other, we have different point of views, that's alright.

I believe it would be like me crashing into any Loghain squee thread and get pounded? There used to be a lot of those thread, while this has always been it except for when the mods are forced to create a new one cuz the first one got too long. That's why I don't do it. I also respect that it's a thread for squeeing on their favorite character and it's disrespectful to try and dismantle their squeeing. That's also why i dont go to your Loghain appreciation thread and start spouting crap.

I'll stay here in the kitchen with Alistair stuffing our faces with cheese!

Honestly i don't care about it,so long as i express my opinion i'm super-happy

Sometime this is an inevitable course of events to be honest,especially in the story campaign and characters section that is dedicated to characters .

While "technically" the function of those pages is also to address the flaws of the characters that can undermine the protagonist goal (pretty much everyone) aside of a very few that comes to my mind, (Cullen,Cassandra,Aveline ),the section is inevitable more updated by people who love that character rather than people who are just completely neutral about them.

I having be told many times to be an hater of something or someone ,but you know what is pretty much,difficult?  (according to my standards)

To hate binary file maneuvered by whatever engine be it Eclipse or Frostbite,oh come on!

That's impossible to me, i didn't hate the like of Loghain or  Arl Howe or even Vaughan  (the triad of the most hated characters of the franchise) or Fiona

they are there  to entertain me and nothing more.

It's not me who created so many threads about Loghain, I would like to centralize, but that's also why I created the Loghain appreciation topic, to finally see some positivity, because if people wanted to make debates and insulting him, they could do that in all the others topics, where they usually spit their venom anyway. I didn't know that the Alistair thread was supposed to be a debate-free thread where it was forbidden to talk about his flaws. Flaws are what make a character interesting, too.

What do you mean by "this", talking about his flaws? Well the Cullenites succeded in keeping peace in their thread, there are debates from time to time, and Cullen's flaws exist and they know it, as I could see.

Because there is only one main Alistair thread so it's the only place where we can debate, while there are at least six Loghain threads, 5 are full of debates and Loghain-bashing, I wanted at least ONE of them without insults. That's all.

It's not like if Alistair was constantly blamed on every thread, unlike Loghain.

The thing is that I don't hate Alistair (even if you don't believe me), I was just debating about some of his flaws. And also, you are so many Alistair fans here! So you never feel like you're alone to defend tour favorite character.

But I agree that this thread should be more peaceful (but debates keep it alive, also) and maybe debates about his flaws should be done somewhere else, in another thread maybe, to keep this one with a good atmosphere.

It's just that we're peacefully talking and then, bam, Loghain-bashing, I couldn't just approuve because we're in another character's thread, so I gave my opinion and everything started... So I guess that the best to keep this thread peaceful is to avoid other characters bashing, and everyone will be Happy and just talk about Alistair only, his innocent charm and love of cheese

Well, he's very well written and it also did not hurt that he was originally from dao which seems to be the most popular of the series. He was more popular than Cass it seem considering he pretty much appeals to women and only f! Wardens can romance him.

Alistair wins over Cullen just because he's funnier. I love them both to bits and Cullen's shyness is really really endearing but Alistair has the extra something. I love dem Chantry boys
