Eh, I put very little stock in what Loghain has to say about Alistair. Maric wasn't really in a confiding mood on this subject, certainly not to Loghain- "hey Loggy, I had a bastard with an Orlesian mage Grey Warden" would not have been high on their fireside chat list. So IMO it's all a lot of supposition on Loghain's part.

I don't know. I have the impression Maric trusted Loghain a little too much. Maybe he didn't know every detail but it's conceivable it is as he claims.

Well, there's no doubt that Loghain knew about Alistair. If you choose to believe that a discusion on whether it's a good idea to acknowledge a bastard is the equivalent of girl talk, then I'm certainly not going to change your mind. Eamon knew and Alistair knew, so there's no reason Loghain wouldn't know. Maric wouldn't have made a decision like that without talking to his advisors, one of which was Loghain.

So no, I have no reason to doubt Loghain's word, only the timeline. Which, some have pointed out, makes more sense if the original plan had been to go with an older Alistair.

I despise the Orzamar quest line, I just feel so tired after finishing it.

Even though I love the Anvil and Assembly parts.

Also I wish in game they would have made leather armour less Xenaish for females really.

Same here. As far as the armor, I like the general style, it's the vanilla colors and such I have issues with. an upgrade should look considerably better than it's predescessor. I play WoW as well and get kinda bored with my rogue looking just like the males in the game in the same gear, covered from head to toe, and no femininity at all.

I'm envious! After two whole days, I've just finished the Carta run with the first of three characters who need to get through Orzammar *cries*

I think Loghain is telling the "truth" as he knew it.  Check out the quote I posted from The Calling a couple pages back.  Yes, Loghain must've known about Alistair being Maric's bastard.  But Maric went to some lengths to keep Fiona's involvement from Loghain.  Loghain was practically keeping Maric a prisoner at that time, and Maric had to wait until Loghain was away from the castle before he managed to sneak Fiona and Duncan in.  I really doubt that Loghain knew that Alistair's mother was Orlesian.  [based on the Fiona - Alistair theory.]

Lol, I just came back from the grocery store while my husband is playing DA on the xbox.  I stop in the doorway holding 5 grocery bags to look at my husband and say with no little excitment in my voice "Alistair?!" My husband who is of the "Alistair is whiney" club rolls his eyes and goes back to the game. It's quite nice to come home to the sound of Alistair's voice. How sad am I? Image IPB

Okay, no more procrastination, back to Orzammar. I didn't realize that the mage I'm playing, Jules, isn't in any romance as yet and is level 12 now. I think this is the longest I've gone with a character since I first started playing without romancing...someone.

I don't know if he knew exactly who Alistair's mother was, but he is smart enough to narrow down any potentials just based on timeframe alone.

And that doesn't speak to whether Loghain knew that Maric "nearly" acknowledged him. Again, there's no reason to doubt him unless you don't believe it because it's Loghain.

I have no reason to doubt anything Loghain says.  I'm sure that is either what he believed, or that is what actually happened.  I can see Maric wanting to acknowledge Alistair, but assuming Fiona is the mother, he did make the promise to her.  I just doubt very much that Loghain knew of the Orlesian connection.  I think he would've made sure Maric never acknowledged that he had a part-Orlesian bastard son.

This I agree with, but I still think he would have been able to connect the dots enough to be suspicous. And I still believe that if he knew definitively who Alistair's mother was, that he would have used it against him at the Landsmeet. So while he may have suspected, it's something he could never prove. Loghain also has a selfish reason to protect Rowan's memory, considering he loved her more than Maric ever did. (In my opinion.)

And my comment about doubting wasn't directed at you; my apologies if I came off as harsh. I just don't see the need for disbelieving something that's probably true because a character you don't like said it.

I agree with everything you said here.  I do think that Loghain really did love Rowan, but he gave her up for "the greater good" of Ferelden.  I think Maric came to care deeply about her, but it was never the same.

And I (the player) do like Loghain ... well, I enjoy his character and think he's one of the most interesting in the game.  Many of my characters, however, loathe him.  :P

Two treaties down, Dalish to go. I'm at that point where I cannot speak to Alistair now, because I'll get the rose. I'm not sure when the best time for that to occur for her is yet, either after Zathrien dies, before we leave the Dalish camp where she realizes she'll always be Dalish, but Alistair and her little crew are now her only clan. The storyteller is going to hurt, both in his words to her, and racism towards Alistair. Or I could trigger it after Tamlen in camp. So that when she moves on to the Urn, the relationship is beginning, but saying goodbye to Tamlen is the release of that burden, that frees her to be with Alistair. Maybe both? Ugh I dunno...it's this or watch football.

The Tamlen trigger sounds good.  I don't think my Dalish will hold out that long.  :P

How are you doing, Giggles? I'm getting there...killing spiders now. Decided to add some of the absurd to my journey through the Deep Roads, so my character donned someone else's armour and is now the partially-invisible woman. Good for a few giggles (arf arf) as we progress along this hated highway.  (Next, of course, is the naked Deep Roads).

I must take back what I said about her friends. She still seems to only like Sten, Dog, and now Alistair. She isn't trusting Morrigan so much.  It's possibly me being lazy too, but I just don't see her fussing around, gaining their trust, and doing all their little quests. There's a blight, theres an Arl to cure, she has enough on her plate.  There might be hope for Zev, but Leliana and Wynne? Nooooo.

Sadly this is going to be my first run with a Drunk Alistair, only run though.
Other than that I am watching my bank account bleed out from University.
