Killing Alistair

Much obliged. Poor Alistair. He really needed the Warden, like Maric needed Loghain.

I have to say, all in all (and all stupid rp decisions in there), he a pretty amazing job, actually.

haven't had any dwarf love in here lately. Alistair thinks Duncan has recruited a crazy woman. She prefers the term Berserker. She's Tryna Effin Brosca!

The things I liked in Awakenings.....

Anders, Nathaniel, Sigrun  --- I wish they had been developed more.

I also thought Seneschal Varel was sexy. :o   I was so sad that he dies:crying:

Other than that, I didn't care for it much,

I thought it had its moments. I wasn't expecting much so it was a lot better than I'd feared (I did wait for patch 1.04 though).
Anders, Nate and Siggy were great. And Varel...rawr! Image IPB
Poor Varel. At least it was a good death.

Love Varel! I actually reloaded and saved Amaranthine instead because I didn't want to see him die lol.
I really liked Anders, Nate and Sigrun as well, but I honestly hated what they did to Oghren. He's a character that's kind of grown on me during all the playthroughs of Origins and then all of a sudden in Awakening he just changes and gets angry at me for my jokes :(

Awakening was to Origins what Kotor 2 was to Kotor 1. Bad.... very very bad.

I have it on very good authority that Alistair likes berserkers.  Image IPB

As for the swooping, I dunno.  Haven't figured out how that's going to work on Carys yet.

I, as well, hated Oghren and wonder if any women like him at all?  Imo, he seems to attract the 'fart joke' male mentality, which is [usually] not shared by women.   Now, that said, I don't wish anyone to think I'm casting aspirsions, because I now have first-hand experience of seeing how a grownup, elegant, complex, and sophisticated man can still have lurking inside that 'fart joke' appreciation.

I've never had any problem with timing on other Origins. My DNF was a little trickier, but in the end I quit worrying about Gorim, and went with it. But the Dalish, is a bit more complicated because you get hit in the face twice with your former love (if you played it that way). I always thought the Dalish Origin was short on depth but, as I'm playing through it again with more experience, it's deeper than I gave it credit for. I just had to work harder to find it.

I'll admit it, he's grown on me. Hearing his banters with Zev, and Sten, and seeing his fade dream, he's mush inside. WAY inside. REALLY way inside...lol. Or maybe it's because I was always the misfit , and can relate to it.

I don't mind him in Origins so much, but in Awakenings he is left in the Throne Room as soon as we're there.

Edit:  I'm STILL not out of Orzammar after three days.  Procrastination has not only been my middle name, but my first- and last-, as well.  *sigh*

Soooo...Dalish gals, I have a question. Does it make more sense emotionwise to...

A: have the "swooping" happen before we leave Redcliffe to go to Denerim to see Gentivi, I can always say it's too soon to tell. She definitely has feelings, she's just not fully let go of Tamlen yet. This way, there could be a hug after the Tamlen scene at camp. Then go on and do everything else.

B: Have the camp scene (cannot talk to him at all at this point, due to swooping being triggered), take him to Denerim where his sister is all mean and nasty. And maybe have them go to the Dalih camp (using Cme's scenes to kinda put Tamlen to rest by the lake) and have him swoop then.

or C: help me? because neither of those seem "right" to me.

Alistair swooped Idun shortly before Tamlen's reappearance.  It's all in here.

I like Oghren, but then I tend to like difficult companions and the grody humor is funny too.

I'm not reading that part again it made me cry the first time:P...lol

That's what made me think about the use of Cme's scenes afterwards too. I thought maybe they do burn him due to the taint, but she could take some of the ashes and plant the tree. And it makes sense to have Alistair there, because he admired the tradition. There has been swooping...

If Nate Howe is going to feature in the sequel, then why not Alistair? Gaider and a few other devs did say your choices in Origins will be imported into DA2. Are favorite puppy face hasn't be confirmed or dismissed yet?

Hope this cheers you up?

Hi Grumpy!  Thanks for the tissues and the cheer-up!

I want to see Alistair again, just to see what happened to him,  but my warden won't be there.  But I don't want to see Alistair again if they are going to dumb it down.  If they can't get SV, I don't want to see an Alistair who is too drunk to talk.   If they would just make Nate a LI, I would be very happy.  I would've enjoyed Awakening so much more if they had LIs.  I know, I know, romance is just a side bonus of the games, but it would've been a nice distraction.  Actually, I would've enjoyed Nate.  Surelyforth and whoever wrote Apostates of Amaranthine have left me feeling that Anders is incredibly smexy, but I didn't feel that in the game.

Sometimes I don't understand the things that Bioware chooses to do.  Gaider said they had a limited word budget in Awakening, so they had to cut the dialog way down.  If that was the case, why introduce us to a brand new bunch of companions that we will want to talk to?  I would've enjoyed our old crew with just an occasional conversation.  I know they backed themselves into sort of a corner by allowing companions to die, but they brought our wardens back by using a previous save.

I liked Ohgren a lot in Origins.  In my US playthrough I got his approval high enough that his goodbye to the warden and his epilogue made me cry.

I had a harder time with him in Awakening.  Some of his dialog was funny, but mostly not.  And I couldn't get his approval up high enough to help him with Felsi.

Whoa!  I never saw that scene!  Love it!  :D

Lady J, not only do you manage to grab the best expressions in your screenshots, but your graphics look different.  They are really pretty!  Mine don't look like that.  Actually, your dwarf shots don't look like that either.

Mostly it's my computer's graphics cards. It has two so that helps. it's hit and miss though depending on the area of the game i'm in and the armor everyone's wearing. Some is more detailed than others. Some get cleaned up in photoshop, cropping out only what I need, fixing brightness levels when needed etc. Others, I get lazy and just crop/save post...lol

David Gaider did once say that he would of loved to have had the LI's back in the Awakening. I'm guessing EA wanted to take the expansion in another direction, and as you mentioned "the budget" obviously played a part in the decision.

My little one shot entitled The Rightful King is up is up at the pit :)

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6319553/1/

Mira Cousland learns of Alistair's bloodline and is determined to set in motion the events that will place the rightful king on the throne and if she's made queen along the way she's not going to complain about that either.

Enjoy!
