Why did I check in with the thread after work....? Great dead and dying companion pics, folks. Guess I should have known that would happen, huh? Awesome. Now I'm in a terrific mood.

I'm pretty sure there have been plenty of non dead companions in the thread, I'm bordering on Lyra spam today for one thing. I'm confused? Do we generally get out of control and do awful things without your superrvision?...lol Is there to be punishment? Ohhh can it be wet noodles???

No, there's just something about coming home and finding that immediately after you posted about finding something upsetting there was a rush to do just that.  I feel all warm and fuzzy now.... Oh wait, I don't.

@Inclemency: Thanks--that was nice. Appreciated....

I finally got a snapshot of Grainne, my mage, which is appropriately representative of how she looks in-game (as opposed to in my avatar or on the creation screen), but I had to take a picture of my TV set from my phone to get it --stupid no-snapshot-taking PS3. . .:pinched:

*snip*

She's not meant to look pretty. =]

Well I certainly would not make her angry! She's very different, well done! Reminds me of a movie called "powder". Especially fitting that she's a mage.

It didn't FEEL fast, goodness I thought we'd never get there. By the time she decided to stop being little miss broody britches , got his approval back up, and got swooped we had all three treaties and Redcliffe done. But yeah, it was a nice change from having them fall within the first  treaty. And thanks on the screenshots:)

I know, my CE Lyra found herself being asked (or really, begged) into Alistair's tent really early, or what felt like early to me anyway. We only had the Mages and Arl Eamon's knights. Of course it was partially my, the gameplayer's, fault, because I kept giving him gifts I know he would like when I picked them up without stopping to think if Lyra would really do this. (I didn't give him his Feastday Gift, though --I've never given those except to Dog and, the first time around, to Shale). She liked Alistair quite a bit and so didn't refuse him, but as I've said in previous posts she kept an emotional distance from him until just after finishing the Brecilian Forest. Unlike my DC Warden who was smitten from Lothering on and pretty shameless about it.

I don't expect that Grainne and Alistair will get along very well --she's probably the kind of mage who gives him nightmares . Although I didn't have to tick him off to acquire Sten's cage key as I thought I would; I assumed that since I didn't have a Rogue's cunning I wouldn't be able to persuade her to give up the key and would therefore have to threaten her. Turns out Leliana did the coaxing for me. Win.

I just steal Sten. i usually play rogues anyhow, and if you go to him first and don't ask why he's in there, you can spring him after you say you'll be back.

a-HA. . .See, all my Wardens are just too inquisitive. . .:P

And since you've got one, I'll ask you: How does one upload a non-standard avatar? I'm only allowed to choose from the pre-set avatars of my characters and I'd really like to have one of Grainne that looks more like her. Yet I see avatars that are obviously taken from screenshots or artwork or whatever. How do I do this?

. . .and finally, I thought at first glance that "Dracustair" was Loghain. . .

Alistair looks so concerned that Rose is very sad after she killed Howe.  He just needed to give her a hug and make things better.

@ Morwen Eledhwen - I can see a slight resemblance of Loghain. The ghoulish look and dark hair really does suit him.

You said you play on console? i'm not sure how that works. I play on PC, so I put the pic I want (cropped to 42x42 I think the size is?) in my characters folder and overwrite the existing one. Then right click it, change it to "read only" and wait for my next character update.

I just did it with my profile photo.
<----
it needs to be 146x146 pixles, and save as a png.

But where did you save it? Do you play on the PC? Is this yet another annoyance I have to endure because I play on the PS3? :pinched:

I get around that by taking the disk out.
Turning the computer off, and waiting for a bit.

It works very well for my laptop at least.

I don't have a disk, I have the steam version. just found an update for my graphics cards though, hoping that helps.

I didn't harden Alistair on my first couple playthroughs because the dialogue line was so mean. Next time I think I will, though. This conversation with Leliana just caught my ear:

Leliana: You're doing what you must, Alistair. There will be worse to come yet... you will need to steel yourself, you know this.

Alistair: I've never been very good at that. The steeling myself part. I find it better sometimes to just be a little weak. I'm all right with that, really.

Leliana: I don't believe you. And either way, it's not as if any of us has a choice.

I think Leiliana is right, actually -- Alistair *isn't* truly happy being weaker. Hardening him is probably ultimately the kinder thing to do.

 I'd be happy to help, but it's actually not any of my characters' faces. I play on the PS3 so I can't take any screenshots of my own. So any time I land on the top of the page or need an Alistair shot to bring the thread back on topic, I have to troll on Google Images. My mage is the scary lady who looks like a tattooed cross between Annie Lennox and Sinead O'Connor.

It's the new GW strategy.  Recruit people with big puppy dog eyes.  They then give the AD the  big puppy dog look and the AD commits suicide.  All remaining dark spawn will flee due to the excessive cuteness of the grey wardens.  Like Riorden says, "Whatever it takes." ^_^

Lol, so that's what you meant by Alistair liking other mages! Well darn, now I'm going to have to make a fail attempt at recreating her. Such a pretty, pretty mage. :bandit:    Thank you anyway! *Your mage is awesome, by the way! Not a lady to be trifled with!*

Yeah, Alistair has had his way with both of my Rogues, I figure it's time to play a character who can resist his wiles. B) I don't really see this mage dallying with any of the romanceable characters, to be honest. I can see her spending most of her time hanging out with Morrigan, Sten, Shale and, eventually, Loghain. And Dog, of course. One of the rogues will have to tag along to open locks and disarm traps and stuff, but I can't decide if she'll commit to one yet or just switch off.

If it helps, part of IRS-A's changes is the hardening line.  There are now two, and while one is stronger than the other, they don't make you feel like a jerk when you choose them.

Siduri, here's the new hardening dialog choices.  Right-click to enlarge.
