I've been gone for awhile, and just picked up Dragon Age: Origins again (I'm currently trying to pass the time until Fable III lands on shelves), and Alistair is even more endearing after a few months away.

LOL  I was waiting for this.  Really, I do like younger Loghain- always have.  He's just too far gone by game time.  Any romantic appeal he might have had as a broody younger man is erased by the image of children being sold to blood mages to fund his war.

I'm just messin' with ya. I've always thought that a very likely candidate for someone that the HFN would be betrothed to was Loghain. The Couslands can't really go much higher up the social ladder.

Really?  But the age difference is pretty stark.  I mean, that'd be marrying your dad.  Plus Loghain seems to have been a one-woman man.  Unfortunately I think that woman was Rowan.  :?

 Why would Bryce screw up succession and try to merge the two Teyrnirs?

I don't know if anyone (other than the HFN herself) would care about the age difference or not. And we know nearly nothing about Celia, so as far off as it seems, Loghain probably isn't beyond considering remarriage (if the circumstances were just right).

I don't think it would be a merging of the teyrnirs. They would still be separate, just more socially and politcally allied.

Hi, all:

I'm looking for a mod that was mentioned in the thread here and now I can't find it. I thought I had subscribed, but I didn't. My bad :(

It's the mod that gives you a cutscene after you return to Eamon's estate after the escape from Ft. Drakon. I'm doing my HNF playthrough and just finished that point. But I don't want to talk to Anora yet until after I've put in the mod. My PC is still shaken up by all that happened and needs some comfort and understanding from a certain former templar.

I tried using the search feature, but no luck. If someone could point me to the right mod, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

It's in Cme's 'Improved Romance Scenes and Fixes -Alistair', and found here:
http://social.biowar...m/project/2573/

Have fun!

I absolutely love this picture. Just the scared look on Ali's face haha. Is it just a random pic or from some scene?

Continuing on Alistair, am I the only one who finds it really hard to play a character that DOESN'T romance him? Was planning on going for Zev with this PC but then I talk to Alistair and he's just there and oops...activated the romance by accident. Oh well, can't go back now.

Nope, you are not alone. Most of my wardens are either HNF or elf mages. I tend to leave the other origins I try in Ostagar. Am I the only one that plays the same origins over and over and has a hard time thinking of Alistair with any others?

No you are not the only one either. Since I discovered how many similarities are to find with Mahariel and Alistair despite their different worlds, I can't imagine one of my Dalish EVER going after Zevran. I actually tried to pair my Tabris with Zev back there, but that girl had a mind of her own and ended gushing over the big stupid shem. Especially my elven girls seem to swoon when Alistair says the right things without even noticing. Curse him *shakes fist* xD

At least I was able to complete a Morrigan romance lately without "disturbance" from him. He is epic as a "bro" too, but I just missed something in that run. Poor Zev is also suffering from the best buddy image in my head with my other chars. Well...next try is now a Brosca who seems to be made for Zev, but I don't hold my breath...[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/bandit.png[/smilie]

I think I am going to try a dalish, I love my "cannons" but it's basically the same story over and over. I want to see what happens with a completely unplanned run.

Yay, more Dalish love. Imo it feels different to play a Mahariel, but I'm hardly objective here.:innocent: Nevertheless doo eeet. :D

Weeelll, I guess.  If I was going to write an AU story about this, this is how it would go:  Elissa is the eldest and Fergus becomes the Warden; Anora pushes the idea of the political marriage because she sees Elissa as competition if Cailan's eyes ever wander; Loghain and Elissa get on decently well at first since she's spirited and militaristic and all that *insert steamy scenes between stoic older man and lusty younger woman*; the Blight hits, Elissa and Loghain become estranged through the war; Elissa bursts in at the Landsmeet and begs for Loghain's life, which is the first time he and everyone else realizes she actually cares for him.  It would probably end with L. dying in the final battle.  The only question would be, would Howe still try his massacre if Loghain was married to a Cousland- probably not.  So you'd have to work around that somehow.

I think it could be quite a touching story, though not one I'd ever write.  Especially since Alistair would probably end up married to Anora and miserable.  Image IPB

Sweet!  Thanks so much - turned out I was using an older version of that mod.  I'm all updated and got my scene, loved it.  Honestly, the folks here who put in so much effort and talent into making these mods have made my game so much more fun to play.  This is going to be my third complete playthrough and it's the best yet.  Kudos!

In an AU world, does he have to be limited to Anora?  I'm not getting a feel for the age of Alfstanna.  Would she make a better match for him?

Even in the AU situation, he would be rival for the throne and would bug out if Loghain was spared by Warden Fergus, so I was assuming he'd either end up a drunk or dead if not married to Anora.

Yeah, you are right.  With Loghain alive, I guess there's no way of ousting Anora and putting Alistair on the throne with a Queen he'd might be happier with.

Not that I advocate sparing Loghain, but there is a lot of leeway in AU. You could set up a situation where Alistair is sole king and he can be convinced to spare Loghain. Even if it is as simple as Loghain is taken away by gaurds to be delt with later and once Riordan shares his info Alistair now knows the full reason  more wardens are needed.  Or that after he takes the throne he is unwilling to challenge the conscription because of the ramifications that woud have for the wardens in the future. It coul be done.

Yeah, I guess if you're out on a limb story-wise, you could push it further and have Fergus only agreeing to spare Loghain if Alistair takes the throne and Anora gets sent to the tower.

Why am I thinking about this, that is the mystery.  LOL

My City elf would be with Zev. My Dalish couldn't, not after learning city elves helped kill her father, and their first meeting is an ambush. Yes, I know humans did too, and Alistair is one. But the Dalish are taught that they have given up on their people, and given up their heritage so to her it's almost double betrayal. My city elf on the other hand couldn't be with a human, not once she found out he was of noble blood. Not after Vaughn. I do however have one in waiting that might be able to overcome that. Since my Canon Zev romance is actually a dwarf noble...or my DCF I'm not sure yet. That is, if she can get her hands on that black ninja looking outfit I saw a few pages back...

Unfortunately, I think that ninja armor is for humans only.  I tried putting it on Zev, and his body disappeared.  I guess that would be good for stealthing.  :P

My CE will be with Zev.  I had thought my DC would be, but she can't seem to keep her hands off Alistair.

I spend too much time thinking about "what-ifs."  It's too bad I have no writing talent.  I could be using that time constructively.

Awww sad panda. I'm probably going to restart Kasha (my only HNF) too. Maybe as a dw warrior this time instead of a rogue. I just wish with the mage origin you could be tied in with a family, like if an elf the Tabris family, or human the couslands or something ya know? I haven't finished an elven mage yet. I'd love to do Dalish Mage with the mod but afraid it would screw WH up.

I did the tower mage, and have one I'm already really really attached to. That makes it pretty hard to do another, even an elf.

Well, I've gotten my Adana Mahariel as far as Ostagar. I think I'm actually getting a somewhat different vibe from her than most people do for a dalish, based on what I've read in the thread. She is not by nature a "snarky" person and, until now anyway, was more curious than anything about "shems" being that she has never been outside the clans. She is sharp and methodical and prefers to have as much information as possible in order to make decisions and when after just a couple of questions she was cut off by Duncan and conscripted and it was immediately witnessed by her Keeper, the rug was ripped right out from under her. She would have agreed...she would have...she just wanted more information and instead was cast out of the only life she has known. Upon reaching Ostagar Duncan leaves her alone at the bridge in a camp full of shems. Under normal circumstances this would have flamed her curiosity and filled her head with questions for them, but she is gripped by fear and panic. She has so far only managed the courage to speak to an elven messenger in camp. I imagine her sitting in a corner of camp alone taking deep breaths trying to calm the panic, get her steel back and work up the courage to go find this Alistair Duncan mentioned. We'll see how it goes.Image IPB

Yay, Yankee, your Mahariel doesn't sound too off from my Kara! She was a little bit panicked in Ostagar too, but she's good at hiding it. Especially because she doesn't want the humans to know she's afraid at all. I always thought that was kind of mean of Duncan to leave a Dalish (or a dwarf or maybe even a mage) alone in a big camp full of humans - I rewrote it just a bit in Kara's story so Duncan didn't seem so insensitive. :-P

Lucky for Alistair he was nice straight off, so Kara decided she could probably trust him, if Duncan trusted him and Marethari trusted Duncan. But that's quite a chain of "if's" so she was wary still.
