I see Anders as being a stand alone mature romance. Waste of a fine man not being able to romance him.

Thoroughly seconded.

I would agree that the Warden ending, riding off with his love is happiest for Alistair. It's too bad BW have decided that such a thing does not exist. Image IPB

The same could be said about Nate. I wouldn't of minded a roll in the hay with him.

I'm not sure it's possible for them to top Alistair in my book, first of all because I'd be playing a human PC- just isn't the same. But I also had no idea such a sweet romance could exist in videogameland, so Alistair's was a revelation and is going to remain in a class all its own I think.

It is sweet but I guess because I'm old and grumbly I'm a bit over that.
Bioware tends to make romances with "nice" guys who usually have some sort of emotional baggage - (courtly knight with insecurity issues and dead sister), Carth (dashing pilot with dead wife, estranged kid and trust issues), Sky (dashing rogue with dead wife and kid...again...), Thane (dashing assassin with dead wife, estranged kid and terminal illness), Alistair (nice young bastard prince with dead mentor and confidence issues)... Kaiden at least didn't have any issues aside from the odd migraine, but I didn't really squee over anyone until Garrus. Probably because he's rather badass, but still has a sweet side, once you get past the damn calibrations (grrr).

I like the Garrusmance in ME2.

I thought it was just friends with benefits until the finale. It was really sweet.

I think I really need to try and take a non-hnf into awakenings to get the full Nate experience. I see why people like him but with hnf all she wanted was the option to say "dude, really, I like you, I do, but more talk about your family...to me? Seriously?"

Heh, for reals?  I don't go to that scary place.  Image IPB  I kind of like it as an idea.  The begging for Loghain's life part gets to me when I picture it.  A political marriage between two mismatched people, which both give up on as a bad idea, but when he's at his lowest she shows she really cares about him and they end up with true affection and respect.  Trouble is, the romantic is killed for me if I think about what Loghain actually does in the game.  (edit:  It kind of reminds me of Sommersby, if you know that film.  Different circumstances, though.)

It was a little different.  30 year old Elissa marries Loghain and things get kinky.  No Blight or anything.

I'm about to start my second playthrough with Aden. I'll post some new screenshots of him and Alistair this week, just for you of course.

;)

I think Loghain would be about as desirable a husband as Captain Vidal in Pan's Labyrinth, if you know that film.

Oh that's a bit harsh. Loghain's ruthless but he never struck me as a sadist.

I'd totally do Loggy. (As I said, though, I'm old and grumbly. I think we'd get on well).

A sadist? No. Definitely not. And I'd do him over Alistair any day. (Yes, I'm not into insecure virgins. I'm insecure enough for both of us!)

*steeples fingers*  Excellent.

Of course, when Male IRS-A is done, I'll have my own shots, since I have the your morph.  ^_^

I made an Orlesian for the Howester.  Dalish mage, of course.  Image IPB

I'm old and cranky (38, but still), and Alistair is just fine for me.  I don't consider him insecure, just inexperienced.  For all that he is very ballsy when it counts.  Throw me down and do me sounds better than it would actually work out, I think.  Player agency has to be preserved.

I don't think we really discussed it, but it was mentioned.  I said something about if it were one of us on the honeymoon, we'd be plaguing him to say The Line over and over.

The Line being, of course, "Maker's breath you're beautiful."  Image IPB

Ah, I'm still having naughty bad thoughts about Canderous (KotOR). Now there's a real throw me down and do me guy. Plus I like his boots.

I've had a few naughty thoughts about Seneschal Varel as well.

Alistair is sweet, yes, but I think he's just too young to ring my bells.

Happy Monday, all! Catching up on all the posts since last night and saw there were a few replies to my inital post and pic of Alistair and Arturo. So...

Agreed, Phaonica! Playing Dragon Age and not being able to romance Alistair is like reading a mystery novel and finding out the last chapter has been ripped out. Image IPB

Found another screenie from the post-coronation ceremony:

I thought I heard he got food poisoning at his wedding?  Or during the honeymoon?

I'm pretty old and grumpy myself.  But Loghain?  No way.  I don't enjoy sharing a man with an obsession.  Been there. Done that.   <_<

And I agree that Alistair is not insecure, he's just inexperienced, but also selective.  He seems to have NO trouble at all in the enthusiasm department once he decides he's ready to commit.

DahliaLynn is working on a royal wedding mod.  Also, I think in cmessaz's long list of projects, she and Grumpy have an Alistair-male romance mod planned.

Well, in real life he's too young for me, too.  I'd be more attracted to Duncan or perhaps Gregoir, but my PC is much younger than me.  Besides, being too young is one character flaw that will correct itself in time.

Yes, like I said, I'm pretty old and cranky.  In real life, Alistair would be too young for me.  But I'm roleplaying here!  If I'm roleplaying a young woman, why not enjoy a gorgeous young hunk?  I get plenty of cranky older men in my real life.  Duncan, however ...  He's ageless.  :D

I am having issues with this as well. It seems to work ok with the Phoenix armor but everything else I had dyed before installing Phoenix changed and are not as nice.

Thats because the tint pack for phoenix will override any other tint packs you had installed I think.
