Exactly! And I always tell people to pay the few extra bucks and get the 1GB Card.

I know I will upgrade to another ATI Card after the holidays and this one will get switched to another computer.

We have four computers in the house and the hubby as well as my father and my brother build computers so parts tend to get recycled and switched over during the upgrading process.

Heh, sounds like a fun house to live in!

The funny thing about me and ATI is that there was a time when I wouldn't touch an ATI card with a 10 foot pole. I was too stuck in the "the way it's meant to be played" Nvidia mentality. Oh, what an ignorant I was...

Well, I like my Nvidia cards a lot.... So there! ;)

I'm about to toss mine right out the window. GAH the video lag in game all of a sudden. Every time I exit combat. I can't tell if it's the game or my computer or what. And I DREAD calling dell.

Isn't Alistair supposed to kiss you at the gates before the final battle? It just dawned on me, he did not.

Only with Charsen's mod.

Sooo.... according to the Maker, Alistair's character was based on a character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  Someone who has actually watched the show want to make a guess which one??

I have Charsen's gatekisses installed, not sure why Alistair was all "love you too, always" then sauntering off...lol

Conflict, I guess?  Check if any other party_events.dlg and .dlb are overriding Charsen's.  Like ZDF.

That would be Xander off the Buffy the vampire series a side kick character who grows in the series I believe in the comics he ends up winning Buffy's little sisters heart

I also read somewhere that Alistair also has some Captain Malcom Reynolds from Firefly in him as well...

I think there is a thread somewhere that Gaider actually says who straight out. It's Xander - Alistair is much better. I don't really like the comparison.

EDIT: Image IPB'd again. And I like the Malcom Reynolds thing much better.

Which of course is an abbreviation of Alexander of which Alistair is the Celtic variant...

I loved Buffy but Xander was never one of the most prominent characters either because of his wit or his intelligence or his fighting prowess, unlike our Ali...  At the end of season five where each of the slayerettes has to take a role in the team he is defined as the "heart" the feeling one.... And he does save the world at the end of season six through his love for Willow, which will never be reciprocated because Willow is gay...

Oh Buffy, how I worshipped the show [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/love.png[/smilie] (and Joss Whedon for his great, epic writings) Of course it's the lovable Xander Alistair was based off and aside him also another Firefly character which name I forgot. Gaider seems to be a huge Whedon fan, and this shows, I swear the man has the same cruelity while writing heartbreaking things like Whedon always had. Not to mention that both of them very much enjoy to torture their audience by eating their hearts and tears. Sigh...

I actually dunno if the author is present at the forum here, but I really want to say thanks for all the giggles this little piece brought me (Not completely NSFW, I suppose). Awesome. I can sooo see the banter happening, lol

Yes, m'dear, but Alistair doesn't.  I'm not opposed to blue eyes, I'm opposed to Alistair having blue eyes.

Let me amend that, I'm opposed to not ridiculously AU Alistair having blue eyes.  Image IPB

It was at Dragon Age Central but sadly that is down I found it on DA wiki

In writing Alistair, David Gaider was inspired by Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Malcom Reynolds from Firefly

sorry for being a ninja by the way ^^;

Oh my god, that's awesome, Tori.  And just so you know, I was pondering more ideas today.  Maybe I'll nab you for a 1/2 hour or so tonight and write some more on MSN.  It seems to work well.

I haven't seen a single episode.  I hear "perky blonde named Buffy kills vampires" and my mind immediately goes to Image IPB.  I did like Firefly.  I believe it's Mal that he said inspired him, I did remember that.

BTVS was awesome. Really great. You're missing a lot if you write it off as that. Buffy being more and different than surface appearances was kind of the point. Anyway. Alistair was inspired by a cross between Xander and Mal.
Edit: Oh, I see that Yankee23 already said that.... I can see it totally. Mal has the caring for the people around him and feeling responsibility for them and what might happen to them--and wishing he didn't. Not to mention the scars from his past. Xander has the goofy exterior, and the serious potential that he holds himself back from. Cof course, Alistair isn't really either of these, he's his own self, but I can see the influences.

Hmm I always liked it since it was to the time where strong girls in TV were a rare thing. And it's not only that there is more complexity added with each season (given the first one is a bit comical by now) However, the character development is fabulous and well done. Oh how I fondly remember on "the Hush"- episode, where 40 (!) minutes wasn't spoken a word...or the Musical episode. Or the realistic take on dead in the one episode of season 5 (don't want to spoiler too much). Epic, I really need to rewatch them <3

I really dont see alot of Mal in an unhardened Alistair.

An hardened one definently has the spine and the belief in a higher cause like Mal.

Then again I have the series and film each so I have seen those movies way to much.

Loved Buffy and Firefly!  I can see the similarities between Alistair - Xander, Mal.  Xander wasn't nearly so cute as Alistair though.

I used a Cousland-resemblance mod for my last HNF.  The preset did look a little like Eleanor and also like Anora.  Why is it that presets that are moved from toolset to character creator end up with weird looking eyes and noses.  I saw the earlier nose discussion, and that's also something that always bugs me.

Here's Brin Cousland.  She took her duty to the family very seriously.  She was probably the most honorable character that I've played.

Image IPB

I put two screenshots together so I could see if she looked anything like her family.  I think she does look a little like a Cousland.

Image IPB

She ended up as Brin Cousland Theirin

My next HNF will be a little more of a brat.

Not to put him down in any way but an unhardened Alistair IS willing to have people he sees in authority tell him what to do alot. ie Eamon/Warden.

Strangely enough UH he has is very firm in the Landsmeet, while Hardened Alistair seems more willing to go along with stuff. Or is that because he is taking what he wants though?

BTW, re:  Buffy ... for anyone who hasn't seen the show, I highly recommend it.  But that recommendation does NOT include the movie of the same name!

DA Face Replacer also makes faces look different- they look a little swollen in eyes and cheeks.  I've gotten used to it and make the eyes a little smaller and cheeks thinner than I normally would.  Basically I don't sweat it.  My face isn't perfect, neither is my PC's, I love them anyway and Maker's breath you're beautiful is still uttered regardless.  Image IPB

Unhardened he will also put his foot down, in rather sweet fashion, about not wanting to marry Anora.

Hardened he is just able to reconcile himself better to the harsher realities of life and take a more pragmatic approach to the kingship.
