I haven't installed any mods, so I can tell you: No, he doesn't kiss you at the gates. In fact if you leave him at the gates his dialogue is singularly unsatisfying, particularly for a PC who he dumped after the Landsmeet. You can say "You and I both know how this ends," and his answer is something like "I guess so; I'll make sure they don't forget you," which to me reads like a big *SHRUG*. Okay! Just so you know I'm going to my death here! Maybe you have something to say to me, about choices? And regrets? No? All righty then! Bye!

I think the reason for this is because you're really supposed to have Alistair with you at the final battle (Riordan tells you to bring him, after all) and he'll take the final blow for you then. And at that point he has great dialogue. ALSO, if you choose the "wait, this is crazy" dialogue option at the end, you get your final kiss. (If you seem more adamant about not allowing him to make the sacrifice, you don't get the kiss, presumably because he feels a more urgent need to beat you to the punch.)

Yeah, I knew it was a mod thing, it always worked before, but not for my Dalish. No idea why. Oh well, I kissed him anyhow...lol

Actually I thought his expression was rather cute, it seemed like a combination of "Wow, that was great!" and "Now I have my love sleeping in my arms". But that could just be my wishful thinking.

Somehow I find myself watching the other cutscenes with that Morrigan o' doom-morph and giggles like mad at that. Oh well I'm so easily entertained I don't know how Alistair managed to look at her with a straight face, or at his fellow Grey Warden for that matter.

It's been so long since I've seen that shot!  I think in the vanilla shot of him watching, he had an odd intense look on his face.  Later I replaced it with ... I think it was BSC Mild?  In that shot, he had a very soft, tender expression.

Well, BSC mild uses the exact same scene. She just tweaked the camera angles for that version.
