Morning all. I forgot I did have a newshot. Cme has revealed that Alistair's favorite toys are not his action figures!
In my shot, he's trying to figure out how to install Natural Bodies.

Anyway, since there are a lot of talented modders in this thread, I was wondering I could get some help with a toolset issue I am having which is breaking my game constantly. Basically trying to add a simple item makes me get the module "single player" is missing so I have to reinstall the game. I am not new to the toolset, have added many items before but then I had to clean my harddrive and after I reinstalled the toolset hell broke lose. So.... anyone have any advise?

I agree that leaving Alistair at the gates is a form of betrayal, but I wanted an US ending on my second playthrough. It was kind of hilarious because my second Warden was romancing Zev (I wanted to see his story play out) but of course I couldn't resist Alistair this time around either, so I started getting *angry* at my PC for two-timing Alistair, and then she dumped him and -- well, she just had to die. Really Alistair should have gotten the hint about her when she started throwing the blood magic around.
Anyway, my offering to this thread this morning is a sliver of fic. Just something that was running through my head last night as I dropped off to sleep...
"The arl used to come here in the winter when I was small," Alistair remarked. "I, uh... slept with the hounds."
Elissa stopped short, struggling for control as a wave of murderous rage rose up and threatened to swamp her. The anger came readily ever since the Joining -- ever since Howe -- and though Oghren was teaching her to harness it in battle, she feared sometimes that it might sweep her away.
"What?" Alistair asked nervously. "You have that look -- you know, the one you get right before you start killing things."
When she spoke her voice was very, very calm. "I think I might kill Arl Eamon," she said.
"Don't do that," Alistair said earnestly. There was only a trace of true concern in his voice: he must have no idea how serious she was. "He was always kind to me. It was Isolde who...didn't want me close to the family." He scuffed his foot, obviously uncomfortable with the turn the conversation had taken.
And just like that, the killing anger broke and dissolved into simple sadness. Elissa stepped close to Alistair and brushed his cheek with her hand. He watched her, wary and embarrassed -- but she was looking for something else. "That poor little boy," she said softly, and then for a moment she caught a flash of him, looking out at her through Alistair's eyes. Starved for love, and grateful for any kindness.
"Oh please," Zevran said contemptously. "So he slept with the dogs. I was literally tortured at the age of seven." As all heads turned to him, Zevran added hopefully: "Do I get tender caresses now?"
Elissa dropped her hand. "Sorry," she said, "Alistair has a lock on the tender caresses."
"Yay," said Alistair.

Did someone actually suggest that leaving him at the gates is a betrayal? That's... a bit ridiculous.

I think it is in his mind, though it may be a noble thing for the PC to do. Being a Grey Warden is the most important thing in his life. It's the core of his identity, really the one thing he's proud of -- and battling the archdemon is what Grey Wardens are for. If you leave him at the gates you're denying him the chance to fulfill what he sees as his true destiny.

Yeah, I don't see how it's betrayal, especially if he's going to be king.Zjarcal wrote...

Yeah, this. Upset because he feels it is his duty...Upset because it means the death of his love or friend, but betrayal is too strong a word.

Hrmm, I now have the same problem folks were talking about yesterday. My new morph's lips aren't quite closed. I didn't see the solution looking back, hopefully someone will recall what it was.
This worked when I tinkered with Eleanor Couslands morph last night when Lady D brought it up, no guarentees. For my mage it was the teeth sliders. Anyhow. Mouth- make sure "mouth-upper lip fat" and "mouth- lower lip fat" sliders are at zero. Then mess with the "mouth- lips fat/thin" slider and see if that helps. It might take both mouth and teeth, each face varies.

I really really REALLY want to throw my usual objection and question how being a Warden is supposedly the most important thing in his life that he would put above all else.
But...I am not going to.

Lady Jess: I tried it, but the corners of the mouth still don't meet for me. It could be because I've made other changes. Not to mention, lips of that thickness are too thick for me. I did manage to fix the profile issues and angles on the cheeks though, so I might just suck it up about the corner of the mouth thing.

Yeah my mage still has corner issues I had to make her look like she has a permanent impish grin. Which is OK for a mage coming from the tower, but not so much a Cousland girl. Kasha's face is from Eleanor's morph too, I agree, wierd ass face! I think naturally though, noones lips are fully clamped closed.

Honestly, I don't think that being a Grey Warden is the core of his identity - it's the thing he latched on to in seeking his destiny. Alistair can become very disillusioned with the Wardens, and I think he would have even become disappointed with Duncan had he continued to lead. Alistair says that he knows that Grey Wardens make grey choices, but I don't think that the reality of that statement has really hit him in Ostagar - after all, he's only been part of the order for six months.
As long as the Grey Wardens continue to be heroic, Alistair is quite happy to stay there. What he really wants is to be wanted and needed and to make a difference in the world and to someone. If these opportunities don't manifest themselves in the Wardens he does leave the order. And in the same vein, I thnk (hardened) Alistair can find all those things in being king and be quite satisfied in the role once he quits being afraid of it.

You must have hardened Alistair, have spent the night with him once in camp, and then you're free to go. It's not really about how far you're into the game, so long as those conditions are met.
