QFT.  It's one of the things that draws the PC and Alistair together, I think.

Love the Ali-dragon!  The hair, that is awesome.  Posted Image  Too bad there's no dragon riding in DAO like in SoIaF.  Though we could institute the notion!

Agreed, the Warden and Alistair while having a dreary no heirs and etc without help, have the happiness of similarity, understanding, and baring the burden of the taint. Things like that show why it might be easy for them to fall in love- they understand each other in a time when they are both very alone.

Apropos all the crap the two Wardens go through together...  Fort Drakon

Since the first time I lost the Landsmeet vote, I've tossed around writing a piece about the execution of the Wardens in the palace courtyard.  As of now, I've not brought myself to do it.

I don't know, it's THIRTY YEARS. That's a really long time. Honestly, I can't see Zevran living until the Warden's Calling although Leliana might. A lot of things can happen and how many people would really go 'You know what? You're going to die in thirty years so let's not be together now'? Hell, for those non-HN that don't like the mistress ending but make Alistair King they only have a year with him and they don't shy away from it.

It's not like the Calling is coming up anytime soon and either one of them could just as easily be killed in battle, waste away from disease, or suffer a massive fatal heart attack before then.

And it's actually 30 yrs as a max timeline.. It could actually be more or less, depending on how the taint spreads.

It's more that one person gets left behind.  I suppose it depends on who they're with, but take Alistair.  If he got married and he and his queen loved each other, she wouldn't go with him for his Calling.  He would die alone in that case and she would be left behind.  As for the other LIs, I would be surprised if Zevran didn't make it to the Warden's Calling.  I do think he would go with the Warden, as would Leliana.  If the Warden moves on to someone else?  Who knows?

As for 30 years being a long time....  My parents just celebrated their 36th anniversary and have been together for 42 years.  In same cases, especially with young Wardens, 30 years isn't very long at all.

I know.  I figured that would grab you.  Posted Image

Twist the knife a little deeper:
- Alistair is executed because he's Anora's rival, but the Warden is spared and imprisoned.  Warden has to say goodbye.

- The Warden is executed as a traitor.  Alistair is spared because you've arranged the marriage to Anora and the nobles want a Theirin.  Alistair has to say goodbye.

I'll just be over here in the corner.  In a little ball.

Awesome job capturing Alistair's essence in dragon form! I must admit, despite the expression on his face, He's still quite adorable...I kind of want to put a leash on him, feed him treats and let him sleep at the foot of my bed.

Why do I get the feeling that this is what you would do to Alistair regardless of form?

QFT. It's just like those youngins everywhere who haven't truly grown past a superficial understanding on their Carpe Diem or what does it really mean to "live every day as if it were your last". Hopefully some day they'll be right.

This expression was the easiest to "transfer" to another form.

Now if I can get a sweet happy expression to work with a dragon... I've done it before...  I think I will just draw the head this time though.. I always run out of room when drawing wings.. and stuff.:D

On average, you only could expect a 40-50 year life span if you were lucky.

Disease

Plauges

Starvation

Wars

Cold

Heat

etc.

These all carried people in greatere numbers until this century than old age.

Also unlike Wynne says, you should just live your life and live it to the fullest before the end. Not just sit around nobly suffering in your duty. <INSERT FLEMETH <BAAHHH!!>>

True that, exceptions like Avernus notwithstanding. However, if you look at 30 years ahead of you, it feels much longer than 30 years behind you. *sigh*

Not necessarily.  A lot of the lower life expectancy is in part b/c so many children died.  If you remove childhood deaths from the equation, average life expectancy gets a lot higher.  Also, keep in mind this isn't a true medieval setting.  Not only are the people involved physically in great shape, they have access to medicine, magic and better overall levels of health, including hygeine, which is a big one.

Wow. This idea really gets me. Mind if I put that on my "Things to write"- list? I love this kind of hopeless angst/tragedy and am a sucker for putting my chars through the hell and back. Yes, I'm weird.
