Has anyone experienced video lag occuring right after cutscenes and combat since installing WH? It's killing me. I've updated video drivers, turned off SLI, disabled my hybrid so the integrated video card wasn't holding memory, defragged, cleaned up my hard drive, updated BIOS, cleaned out the game cache, everything I can think of or find on google and I can't get it to stop. It's really hard to enjoy the game and gush over Alistair when I can hardly move after each combat sequence or cutscene. And it only happens, seemingly in DA:O I can play Bioshock 1 and 2 at max settings, no problem, other games as well. I don't even have my graphic settings in DA maxed, and i should be able to easily.
edited: started after installing Witch Hunt and not playing at all for the couple months before that,.
Hmm.... I don't know. It sounds like you've done all the right things. I've never had that problem, even after I (recently) turned off one of my cores to stop the frequent crashing that has been plaguing me lately. Did you install any mods recently that might not be playing nicely with the new patch or Witch Hunt?
Nope, I had it the minute I went back to playing for the first time since July, and at that point hadn't installed any new mods. I installed WH, and it started there. Unfortunately even with WH disabled it's still doing it. There's just no reason it should be doing it on this system.
That's kind of what happened to me, only with different symptoms. Suddenly the game started crashing all the time, sometimes during fights a la Awakening, but sometimes just on little things. It was before the last patch/Witch Hunt. too, like some bug just came out of the woodwork. I actually wonder if this isn't why they've abandoned DA:O, at least in part--some ghost in the machine that they can't track down. Ever since Awakening, things have been unstable. Do you have more than one core? I'd be interested to know if it still happens if you disable all but one.
I have an Intel Core 2 Duo Quad Core 2ghz processor. Running 2 Nvidia 260M 1gb Video cards as well. and 6 GB RAM while I'm at it.
It's not a power issue, if it's a continuation of the Awakening bug. It seems to be some lind of a conflict between cores, or at least that makes it worse. Now, this may not be the same thing, but if it is, switching to one core makes things better.
That is very likely to improve your situation rak72.
If it makes the game too slow, try minimizing to desktop and changing the affinity right before battles.
And some Alistair:
