And Alistair doesn't give you as much approval for booze as Oghren does, but he gives you a good +6 for wine or ale, and then diminishing amounts afterwards.

I'd love a drunk Alistair cutscene!!Posted Image

There is a banter between him and Oghren in which he expresses first disgust and then jealousy at the fact that Oghren is always drunk; he says something to the effect of: "I wish I could be drunk all the time." It's kind of funny and then kind of not, as depending on your gameplay choices, that's exactly how he could end up.

But tipsy Alistair would be funny. Camp drinking games would also be funny. I still haven't been able to trigger the dialogue where Oghren accuses Dog of stealing his pants, then passes out.

Edit for ToP: Maker bless Google Image search. . .

Credit goes to aimo_ahmed for this one (as for most of the great DA cartoon pix).

So I've been noticing in my most recent playthrough that Alistair objects to most of your new companions. It's understandable that he would object to Zevran, who after all has just attempted to kill you, and his problems with Morrigan are pretty obvious too, but he'll even try to talk you out of recruiting Leliana or Shale. I'm starting to think that Alistair is just jealous and doesn't want his Warden BFF to have any other friends!

You know when Alistair does that "Let's gossip about our companions" conversation, does he ever say anything about Wynne?  I've done that dialog so many times, but I can't remember him ever including her.

Not that I'm aware of. I remember holding off that convo until she was in just to have her included but she was omitted...

Alistair also appreciates it if you buy him a drink after a long day.

Really? Aren't all the alcholic gifts for Oghren or Wynne?

Nah, Alistair's a cheap drunk.  Oghren likes the expensive stuff.  Wynne doesn't like ale.

Not true! Oghren gets Wynne to taste some of his "special brew" in a party banter. She liked it. I was shocked. . .

And Alistair doesn't give you as much approval for booze as Oghren does, but he gives you a good +6 for wine or ale, and then diminishing amounts afterwards.

I can see why Alistair would appreciate a drink. Considering the fact I use him as a meatshield for combat it's only fair I buy the poor guy a drink or two.

Wynne doesn't like the stuff YOU give her.  She's got standards. ;)  Alistair doesn't like if you keep trying to get him drunk, though.

Wynne is apparently omitted from lots of things. Does she have a finale speech before the battle? Because I didn't get any in my re-canon playthrough.

He has one about Oghren even though most people get the conversation before Orzammar. Maybe it's because he likes Wynne and has mostly negative things to say about the other companions?

Did she like you? She always gives me that 'I am proud to call you friend' speech.

Where did you get those? These aren't bad but I like the black on yours.

Seri made them for me.  It's a lil file that has the dress and clothes.

Edit:  I should clarify, the black is not black.  It's dark brown.  Lighting is darker in that area.

I got that speech one time after the Landsmeet - nice little continuity error presented itself when one dialog option involved stopping Loghain, even though he submitted himself to the taint for the greater good by then.

You're right.  I don't remember a final speech from her to any of my characters.   But she does say a lot, even when she's not there.  I still have the bug of Wynne making comments about areas, when she's not even in the party.

She did like me. Strangely though, she didn't even have the griffon dialogue either.
She was not at max, but probably at 80 or 70.
More than Alistair actually.

She did say something about friendship at post coronation though.

In fact she gave Alistair his mother's amulet back immediately afterwards.

So I've heard of several people saying that they do that to get the approval back up and I understand the metagaming reason but what RP reason do you have for listening to him ranting about how you're a horrible person for killing Isolde or Connor and then saying 'Yeah, that's great. BTW, do you want this cool necklace I found?'

Edit: And for that matter, how do you even know it's his mother's necklace in the first place? In-game it's labelled but does Eamon actually have a note attached saying 'Give to Alistair'?

In my case, I just looked at it as

"Oh, here, found this while we were there, thought you might like it"
*Throws amulet at Alistair's head.*
"but you know, I'm just an evil blood mage"
*stomps over to Zev and has tea*

I think Alistair describes it a little bit in his conversation with you, but otherwise it might be one of those "suspension of disbelief" things between in-game and out-of-game. After all, how are you supposed to know that Sten gets all the paintings, or Morrigan gets a mirror, or whatever? [Edit] and if you travel to the Circle without Morrigan in your party, she has no chance to tell you the significance of the black grimoire in Irving's desk. But you give it to Morrigan anyway. . .

My RP reasons for giving Alistair the amulet were that (a) she had meant to give it to him as soon as she found it anyway, and since his yelling at her didn't bother her too much in the first place it wasn't going to put her off from her set intention; and (B) it was kind of meant to be an, "Are you finished? Great. By the way, here." kind of a move. She was even more amused when, in the speech where he accepts the amulet, Alistair berated himself for his selfish, childish temper and destructive tendency to overreact. :P He didn't seem to make a connection, though.

Alistair does describe it, and what he did with it, and where. Then you find it exactly where he left it, repaired but still evident that it had been shattered. It's in both his description and the amulat description that you know .

She has to be at "Friendly" to give a goodbye speech. If you're at warm, she can't be bothered to give you one. Considering even "Hostile" companions go through the effort of at least saying, "let's get this over with", it's just further proof of what a hag Wynne is.

....wow she is a hag.
But it's better that way. The speech was choking me up (for the millionth time, especially Oghren!) and Wynne opening her mouth would have ruined the moment.

Oh, I totally agree! The less Wynne, the better!

About the speeches, after four full playthroughs (and having seen the actual speeches about 3 or 4 times per playthrough), I still get choked up with them. Particularly with Oghren and Morrigan's (friendly) speeches. And Dog... especially if you do the US where you can tell him that "this is goodbye". Oh crap, I'm choking up as I type!

I don't only choke up with Morrigan.
I usually get misty eyed on top of that. :crying:

And yes "You be a good boy now" to dog is choking up worthy.

Shale, Oghren, Zevran and Sten make me have a smile + choke up moment.
And I am actually choking up now too, no joke. :(

Oh, that part was one of the most difficult things to get through. Dog's bond with my mage was so unconditional I just hoped that someone will take care of him after I was gone. But due to the imprinting I'm not sure if that's possible.  Posted Image

It's the way he whines when you tell him that line that absolutely kills me. I admit it, a not so small flow of tears ran through my face at that moment.
