It's so strange. Alistair doesn't like my human noble. She's probably too much of a no nonsense type, not very patient or gentle. But he approves of my city elf who is walking around asking dumb questions and cracking jokes.
Yay and another good reason for me to get the PC version.I have some good news to report-- SynysterLyfe is working on a Skip the
Deep Roads mod. You should see it within the next couple of weeks.

It's always fun to hear about ways you've not played DA. Even after all the characters I've played, it amazes me to find things still not done!

I have a question -- I've heard the HNF can declare herself Alistair's queen even if she's not romancing him. Has anyone done this? I'm really curious as to what the dialogue is like afterwards, but it would be soooo hard to go through almost the whole game without swooping on Alistair! And then if the dialogue is the same I would be a crankyface.

I did a political marriage ending just for testing for DahliaLynn. It was interesting, and yes the dialog is a little different. My warden and Alistair were best friends. He thought the marriage idea was ok, but a little awkward. He got a bit embarrassed talking about the heir thing.

Speaking of swooping on Alistair, I think I've found my favorite romance trigger. It comes when you ask him about "what changes after the Joining," and he says something like "When I asked Duncan that, he just looked at me and said 'You'll see.'" There's a dialogue option to say "Just try that line on me," at which point Alistair gets totally saucy and says "Oh, I can think of better lines for you." Then you can either shut him down or flirt back. I like that romance trigger because it actually lets Alistair make the first move.

I haven't played since yesterday morning. Even after a dozen playthroughs this game and it's writing can make me go "Damn you Alistair" and turn it off in a snit. I seriously got the lecture over Isolde, headed to Haven, fought Sten, and by the time that was over was so mad about him thinking blood mages were evil, and by that Jaina is evil I LITERALLY flipped him AND Sten off behind my screen and quit. I knew it was coming of course, but that didn't make it any less ...personal. Damn you Gaider!!

Okay, this I'm going to have to see.
Is it possible to trigger a romance during that conversation? I know it's late in the game and you probably wouldn't get all the romance scenes, but it seems like a sweet way for two characters to start falling in love.

Aw, LadyJ. Sorry you are having trouble. That's interesting. So he really does react to her being a blood mage. My Dalish mage was having a hard enough time getting along with him without the blood magic issue. I wonder if it's possible to have a happy ending with him that way? My blood mage could care less what Alistair thinks. He's more interested in Zev. I thought it was fascinating though when Wynne confronted him about the mysterious spells he was using in the tower and Irving covered for him.

I'm definitely finally getting that Castle Cousland mod for my upcoming HNF playthrough!

Sounds like we're all having trouble with our mages. I just finished my latest mage game and there was trouble between Alistair and she. I ended up saving Loghein, marrying him to Anora and my mage did the US, which was NOT the ''go off to be grey wardens together' ending I had planned!

I like the convo with Irving as well.
For some reason he was just awsome there.
There is a cut dialouge in the tower where Wynne calls you out on being a blood mage.Merilsell wrote...
Addai had played a Dalish blood mage who did come around with him in the end and they ran off into the sunset together. Maybe she can help? Haven't played a BM yet, so I'm a bit on a loss here... o.O

So you guys don't think that if Alistair were aware that the Warden was a blood mage it would be a huge turnoff for him? Game mechanics allow him to date anything that is female and doesn't spare Loghain but you'd think that he would realistically have to take a stand somewhere and I think that, as an almost-templar, he wouldn't be able to deal with his gf's blood mage status.

I'm pretty sure I said if we could discuss it with him it would be easier, and that yes I do hence my problem. There should have been an option during at least one of the "blood magic is evil!" moments he has (which are pretty frequent) to discuss it if you are one. I actually think given the oppurtunity, and your answers he'd be alright with it. Being that you are, in fact, a grey warden and it's common knowledge they don't care about blood magic. The joining itself is blood magic, in a way. So if you ARE a blood mage but only use it for GOOD (IE: being a grey warden, healing, self defense) he'd understand that. It may involve a persuade check but it would be nice to have it.
