We can only hope it's not just drunk Alistair.

New screen manipulation: Self Portrait  (30 more days to go *fingers crossed*)

wait ... self portrait?  30 more days?  What happened?  Did I miss something?  Are you ok?

Very striking picture!

Thanks for the comment about the pic.  I had a riding accident, my horse fell at a jump...on me.  Recovery has been a bit boring. :)

Eek!  Glad you're recovering!  It's good that you've got something like DA to give you a little distraction.

*SIGH*  ToP again, and I just discovered that photobucket removed the last two pics I uploaded.  That does it.  I need to move off of that site now.

Since we're on the subject ...

Sorry if this has been discussed before but has anyone NOT taken Alistair to Redcliffe the first time? So you don't find out about his background until Eamon wakes up mentions making him king? I haven't tried that path cause honestly it's never occured to me to NOT take Alistair everywhere heh.

I did that in my last game because, like you, I take him everywhere.  It was interesting.

Several replies from fans, nothing from him. I doubt that he'll elaborate on it...

@ Reika .... YES! I was sitting at my comp going, You are so going to die horribly and slowly you *expletive*!! Then I killed all his lackeys, got everyone else out of the room and solo'd Howe.
@Merilsell ... I also think that's a little ooc for Alistair to get all romancy when you tell him you think him being a prince is thrilling. Especially since he kept going on about how he never wanted it and didn't want to be king, etc.

Edit to add:
inclemency thanks for that, I'll have to try it in my next run through.  I can imagine my char going err why would you want to make Alistair king?  And how?  What?
And sorry to hear about your accident!  I had a horse refuse a jump which ended with me flying over the horse's head and onto the jump.  Never had one fall on me though.

I just did something I've never done before. I took the party to the entrance of Redcliffe before my PC was in any kind of relationship with Alistair. The conversation encompassed several separate conversations you have if you are in a relationship, or maybe if you are somewhere else, was strange. I got -6 out of the whole thing, too! lol Reload time.

Redcliffe is where I start the relationship on my HNF.  The whole "I wanted you to like me for me." and you respond with "I do like you and not for your blood."  I think it really fits for a noble and he's so pleasantly surprised.

Several of us did, none of us have gotten a response yet nor has he sent out anymore information publically.  So as far as  I know, that's the only info we've got so far.

@ Elessara - Very glad to know I'm not the only one. Unfortunately he didn't show up on my killsheet because I'd killed something that was a "higher level".

The romance thing with the prince comment is a bit of a stretch, but the way I see it is that he's already starting to feel something for the FemWarden and that she's expressing interest in him really is the one good thing about his heritage.

Or perhaps BioWare won't let him elaborate on it.

Maybe Alistair's appearance in DA2 is a side quest where you have to rescue him from a  torture chamber where you find him naked, sweaty and in some sort of kinky bondage pose...oh, sorry. Got a bit carried away there. Posted Image

It's quite amusing, actually.

The dialogue:

Eamon: Those claims will give Loghain's allies pause, but we must combine it with a challenge Loghain cannot ignore. We need someone with a stronger claim to the throne than Loghain's daughter, the queen.
Teagan: Are you referring to Alistair, Brother? Are you certain?
Eamon: I would not propose such a thing if we had an alternative. But the unthinkable has occurred.
One of PC's lines: What about Alistair? What do you mean?
Teagan: You don't know?
Alistair: I, ah... meant to tell you when we were approaching Redcliffe, but...
Eamon: Alistair is King Maric's illegitimate son. He is Cailan's half-brother and has a claim to Ferelden's throne.
One of PC's lines: What?! Why didn't you tell me this earlier, Alistair?
Alistair: I never thought it would come to this. When Cailan got married, everyone thought it was best to just... have me step aside. It was a relief, actually.
Alistair: I don't want to be king, I never did. Even when Cailan died I... I guess I hoped that something else would present itself...

That's the line I used on Jaina...for once it felt right, and like she was teasing him a bit.

Yea, I actually replied to him as well, but he usually replies or retweets if you end up making some sort of witty comment he happens to like :) I just complimented him, so..I don't really expect an answer

Out of curiosity, how does he respond? I never liked the way that line sounded either (as if you DO only like him for his blood) so I never chose it.

He says something like this, "Did I just find the only damn decent thing about heritage? I think I did!"

Or close.

It could be an Awakenings-esque cameo, and it could be taking place during the Blight (Origins)

Heh, that's true, DA2 will begin somewhat parallel to Origins after all... bumping into Alistair in Hawke's hometown of Lothering could be fun. Maybe we get to see him picking the infamous rose :)

It's why I've been writing my fanfic, there's certain things that felt a little limited in spots, but I know when designing a game there's only so much they can put into it. So there's mad props for BW for coming up with a story compelling enough to make me want to write how I saw things from my character's PoV.

Same here. As everyone knows here I'm a Dalish girl all over, but I disliked the lacking of depth in that origin. THis is why I started my FF back in the days. And a bit the lack of good Mahariel stories to read was a motivation too. It's actually a playthrough ficlet but I found myself adding a lot more scenes to give my character and her really fascinating culture the missing depth than dealing purely with the game happening.  It's nice to have a character slowly evolving in a process of writing, to see her falling down but eventually overcoming the struggling as a Warden in a world that is not her own.

I also thank BW foir being so inspiring with a video game.

One of these days I'll finish a playthrough on a character other than my HNF and it would be interesting to see how things go that way. But my Cousland could never spare Loghain (Like another poster said, I didn't pay too much attention with my warden and the origin before realizing the major impact of Howe, that version didn't stay around long) because of him siding with the murderer of her family. And Riordan failed spectacularly to sell at saving Loghain.

Oh please do so. It's much fun to see the world from another POV with another origin. I have played all origins so far but my dwarves are quite behind, I have to admit. And have still to get through with an Amell, because elf mage is more fun too me . Guess I won't bother to play DA much on my XBox anymore or even to start a new game. I rather wait for the PC version to give it all my love, heh :wizard: As for Loghain, well he dies. Every single time. I spared him once for the achievement, but I felt not very comfortable to have him around me overall. :bandit:

Loghain dies in all of mine because I can never rp taking someone whom I don't know will survive the joining when I know I'll lose someone who is already a Grey Warden.

In my last game I let him live, while Alistair married Anora, and my used-to-be-in-relationship-with-Alistair PC did the US.  It was interesting taking Loghein through RtO along with Wynne, I'm glad I did it.  I'll never do it again, but glad I did it once.

Hello and welcome to the thread *waves*

It makes me squee every time as well. BUT in cases of an US and leaving Alistair at the gates I'm reduced to a sea of tears at that point. :crying:

@Jess: Good to know. She was fun (to read of) after all. If you hadn't an idea already I'd have probably advised you to write a dialog down. A talk Jaina and him could have to clear things up. It would help, I guess....or not

Thankies! I saw this gush thread and I am a huge <3 Alistair fan~!

Same here with Aeris.

She just wanted to tease him a bit. She couldn't have cared less if he was a prince or not. But then things got flirty and Aeris didn't mind to step back from that ...advance. . Hell I indended her originally for Zevran but after one night she told him to bug off on her own account, Turned out that she was all over the moon for that Shem already, yet in denial. So that flirting of him afterwards confused the hell out of her, but was certainly welcomed and the needed push for her.

I never intended to start the romance this way, it was a nice surprise and in hindsight very fitting. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]

(Which reminds me I have to replay her asomeday, she was lotta fun <3)
