That char doesn't have the cailan mouth, does he?

No, thats my Alistair morph, I made him a cousland because I was running experiments with his character portrait.  I did make his lips fuller, and I think less wide also.

I hate the cailan mouth, that's why I like my Alistair so much...he has a top lip.

So cute in his noble cloths.  I could put My HNF's head on Leliana, and do a reverse romance.

Opinions??

I've never done a complete playthrough. Started dozens of times as an HNF, determined to get through it but I never do. This time I'm really gonna do it. (I swear!) and I was gonna get opinions on which ending I should go with for a first playthrough. I was thinking the Queen ending, just because it's less er.. emotionally draining than the others, and I figured it'd be a first ending. Thoughts?

By the way, did we ever find out if you could offer to be queen even without originally being romantically involved?

You can be Queen without romantic involvement. Just make sure he doesn't hate you and it'll fly. If you're planning on switching origins at some point then you should probably do Queen Cousland now as that's the only mod-free way to become Queen.

I like being Queen. You have all of those other origins not to be queen, so you might as well be the queen when you get the chance. You canhave a political marriage with Alistair.

Oh you really didn't have finished the game? o.O Wow. You do realize that you have spoiled yourself much by reading this forum right ;)

Anyway, the queen thingie is (almost) the most common choice for the first playthrough and a nice one. Not by far my favorite ending, but nice nonetheless.

@Jess Glad I was able to help with that. Yay for Jaina/Alistair smoothies and ficlet :D

Oh I've played long enough, there was pretty much nothing mentioned that i haven't done that haven't already spoiled. Except for maybe some dialogue choices, etc. It wasn't a huge deal. ^_^
Gah. I spoil everything though.

Lol, just tried to spark the romance at Redcliffe while Alistair was telling my PC about being the king's son. Well, it didn't work, then I looked at his approval, which had only been at +12 neutral. Guess I have to wait juuuust a little bit longer to do that conversation!

Just did the 'battle with Sten' in Haven...he was tough!  I respec him into sword&board and he kept knocking me on my butt.  However, a few backstabs later and he capitulated.  That was fun, had never done that before.

The Sten fight is fun to do at least once. And you get massive approval for kicking his butt. It is kind of funny how the other companions don't react at all in the game, but I like to think in my head my character told them she was going to settle it.

My friend who got me hooked on this game said he felt that Sten was one of the most underutilized characters, I tend to agree.

Yeah, she had to do the battle alone. I use Sten alot, especially if my PC is an AW. I'll take Alistair, Zev and Sten. Its pretty much a bladefest. Alistair as DW, my AW with dual daggers, Zev with dual daggers and sten with sword 'n board. I may have him DW as well one of these games!

I'm afraid the DW rogue spec has my heart which is funny since in most games I tend to play a caster. Hm, I think might be because it was like the rogue from WoW before their *ahem* improvements.

Me too. I love Sten and I love the fight in Haven. I usualy do Haven late in the game and taken with Sten's dialogue I consider it to be a final test, so to speak. I think he's proud when you stand your ground and kick his a**.

It took me awhile to warm up to Sten, but after awhile he did grow on me. I usually do Haven about halfway through since I tend to play the game from a sort-of RP point of view.

Speaking of which, is it sad I've been writing more fanfic than playing said game? Except for loading up various saves to remind me of certain conversations I want verbatim. Ususally those involving Alistair.

I think last time I was at 30 neutral when we went to Redcliffe.  Gave him the line and it triggered the romance.

Agreed. I usually play casters first but after getting dumped by Alistair I kinda lost interest in my mage and rolled up a noble rogue (!) that dual wields, backstabs bosses with poisoned blades and can pick locks on just about any door or chest.

I really should do another type of character for my 3rd runthough but I'm so tempted to to another rogue since he was so much fun.

Oh, and earlier this evening I sent an e-mail to Aimo Ahmed (the artist who did the drawing of Alistair and Bann Teagan toasting with the mugs of ale) about a possible commision. Unfortunately it may take a while since she has a waiting list up for larger-sized artwork. I'll keep you posted if I hear from her. Posted Image

I don't know but I'm certainly not one to judge. I don't even remember the last time I actually played the game (well, aside from doing WH which maybe a week and a half ago).

I'm going to have to try that with my next hnf.  I'm also so torn about the swooping kiss.  I love that, but I also love hearing SV's voice saying, "So I fooled you, did I?  Good to know."  It goes into that deeper register that ... well ... is it getting hot in here?

I guess I'm fussy about Sten.  I can't take Asala away from him, so he stays 2handed.

That's exciting!  Promise you'll show it to us!

You should try the "running off to be wardens together" happy ending with a mage + Alistair.

Oooh, I hope you do share when you get it MageTarot, I love Aimo's stuff.

And I know what you mean about the "So I fooled you, did I?" line. But then again SV's voice is one of those voices that just gets under your skin in a good sort of way.

I, too, am fussy about Sten.  He stays a 2 hander for me.

Ah, the swooping kiss.  There's no real wrong way to rp that, so it goes depending on how I'm feeling at the moment.

Ok, I know this is going to sound really dumb and you're all going to explain it to me and I am am going to feel stupid but...I never understood the  "So I fooled you, did I?"  line. The response makes no sense to me in the context of the convo.Posted Image
