Which is why I see letting hardened Alistair wipe out Loghain, and get on the throne by himself the happiest, or with the PC he loves.

How he does it is eerily similar to Calenhad and Maric though.

Yes, I see those as the happiest, myself, not that there isn't great poignancy and a good story in the other endings.

Theirin apples don't seem to fall far from the tree, do they? ;)

Do you think his marriage to Anora works out that well?

Personally, no, although I know others see more hope there. To my way of thinking, her father and his brother stand between them in a way that would be virtually impossible for them to get past, not to mention the fact that their personalities and world views seem likely to rub each other the wrong way, or even lead to outright hostility. To me, this marriage is one of the saddest possible endings from an emotional point of view, if not a political one.

Yeah, I kinda get the notion that it's likely to end in a messy divorce.

I think a hardened Alistair will do as good a job as Anora could solo.
Mostly since he listens to people, like the Warden, Eamon, Teagan, and is popular at least.

I have yet to bring him naked or in Calian's armour though, he is usually in the Juggernaught  set.

I have to wonder if he would actually be able to continue on that course if, once married, he saw that it was hurting the woman he married. I have a feeling that eventually he wouldn't be able to stomach it.

I agree, and it's why I don't have much interest in the mistress path. Although I think Anora would probably not be much hurt by having Alistair continue his romance with the PC, so I can see that particular situation working out tolerably well. (In fact if he has to marry Anora I would kind of hope that he got to keep his real love -- the poor boy deserves SOME happiness in life.)

I know the epilogues show the Alistair-Anora marriage as being good for Ferelden, but that sounded like an unreal, fairy tale type ending to me.  Their personalities might balance each other out in a way that's good for their people, but I really doubt that they end up happy with each other.

I haven't seen the epilogue slide in awhile but I don't think it seemed unrealistic. I don't remember it saying anything about Anora and Alistair being happy together, just that the people loved them and Anora was pleasantly surprised that he was willing and able to rule and often deferred to her experience. Nothing there indicated that they didn't deeply despise each other but couldn't end their marriage or else one of them would lose the throne.

Agreed, except that I also think he has pretty decent instincts of his own. There's something to be said for a ruler who cares deeply about the people, is honorable, and has a passion for justice.

In my game, Alistair wears clothes. By Landsmeet, he's usually in Cailan's armor, the Evon the Great mail, or something I've made for him--but he's always wearing clothes. ;)

Lol it looks a bit like MageTarot's character there in the background. It also looks like he's got his eyes on Alistair's sword. And not the one he's holding in his hand

My PC is finally going to be here early next week~ I have been without a real computer for a month... I need to start making a list of what mods I missed (especially since I hadn't played DA for like 2 weeks before I left, too)

I have a mod that upgrades armor worn by NPCs (and all weapons when you sell them and by them back) to be level appropriate. Here's the link to the DA nexus.

I think that having him marry Anora is probably the best case scenario for a mistress, tbh. Two strong rulers, so he won't be under as much pressure, and Anora is perfectly content to never remarry on her own, so being queen is its own reward. The fact that he sees her as being so much like Loghain does not bode well for his ability to fall in deep and abiding love with her, especially if he's already in love with another woman. And I think, of all potential queens, Anora is the one who would be most all right with him having a mistress and that would, in turn, lessen his guilt (not that he seems guilty in the slightest at the coronation).

I concur. You can even tell Anora you're not giving him up, and she simply asks that you be discreet. She DOES try to weasel you into thinking it could grow to be "more" but I think that's just the claws showing a little. The way I see it, the  match reduces the chance that SHE could raise a rebellion or start a civil war (since she refuses to swear her oath),  Satisfies the "omg must have Theirin blood!" people, as well as those that supported Loghain and Anora in the first place. Plus, it keeps Eamon from parading other women in front of a solo king that given enough pressure he marries someone that he COULD fall for eventually.

Hello...
I have a quick polling question. I have someone testing the Alistair Amulet through the whole game and all is going well so I will release it soon, however....I can not at the moment make it be given retro to Wardens that have already played through. It will be given in lieu of the unusable rose Icon to those who play through with new romances, I can make a second amulet that drops in the inventory for those who want the amulet for characters already advanced or finished...would that be something wanted for those whom have played through already?

any thoughts?

and for good measure........
