Ok, there are definitely buts. Of a sort.

Sadly, I can believe the dwarf comments. I'm a thirtysomething at just around 5'2" or 5'3" in my shoes, I have people asking me when am I going to graduate highschool. Grrr.
I'll admit, there's times my neck hurts in sympathy when my warden is looking up at Alistair or Sten.

Hello...
I have a quick polling question. I have someone testing the Alistair Amulet through the whole game and all is going well so I will release it soon, however....I can not at the moment make it be given retro to Wardens that have already played through. It will be given in lieu of the unusable rose Icon to those who play through with new romances, I can make a second amulet that drops in the inventory for those who want the amulet for characters already advanced or finished...would that be something wanted for those whom have played through already?
any thoughts?
and for good measure........

It's silly, really. I'm 5'7 with a large frame, my husband is 6'1 with a medium frame, and proportion wise (height and build) we look like a dwarf and Zevran.
Yup. He has to be warm to you before you can get the option to swing him into being interested during the confession speech. I like doing that but I like having him already interested in me so he can tell me that he feels lucky to have survived with me. (I'm such a sucker for compliments!)inclemency wrote...
Lol, just tried to spark the romance at Redcliffe while Alistair was telling my PC about being the king's son. Well, it didn't work, then I looked at his approval, which had only been at +12 neutral. Guess I have to wait juuuust a little bit longer to do that conversation!
LOL I don't think so. I spend more time here in the forums than I do actually playing the game these days. Doing this, much like your writing of fanfic, just makes the game more appealing, I think.Reika wrote...
Speaking of which, is it sad I've been writing more fanfic than playing said game? Except for loading up various saves to remind me of certain conversations I want verbatim. Ususally those involving Alistair.

I'm going to have to try that with my next hnf. I'm also so torn about the swooping kiss. I love that, but I also love hearing SV's voice saying, "So I fooled you, did I? Good to know." It goes into that deeper register that ... well ... is it getting hot in here?

Makes no sense to me either, but I've never cared because that voice just melts me, every single time.Yankee23 wrote...
Ok, I know this is going to sound really dumb and you're all going to explain it to me and I am am going to feel stupid but...I never understood the "So I fooled you, did I?" line. The response makes no sense to me in the context of the convo.
And here I thought I'd be the only one to do things like that!tuppence95 wrote...
My routine now is to listen to him say the "fooled you" line, then reload and let him swoop. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/love.png[/smilie]

Hm, so thoughts for my fellow fanfiction writers. Do you think Alistair would freak out more if told beforehand that the Warden who has been hitting on him has about as much experience as he does, or after the tent scene when he finds out in a different way?
Yes, I'm evil, but I like poking people. Probably why all my saves for conversations involve things like "Poking Zev" or "Annoying Morrigan".

Hmm..
Considering what you've written thus far? After the fact definitely..
You know what they say.: "Two virgins in a bed is one too many";)

Thank you for sharing!! I joined Twitter a few months ago, JUST to follow SV (told y'all I was a HUGE Alistair fan) but I can go a week or more without checking it. Needless to say after reading this I headed right over to Twitter and made my very first Tweet ever, in reply to his.TS2Aggie wrote...

I wonder who holds the record for most played PCs in this thread? I've completed 22 playthroughs over the last 6 months.
Yeah, I've only managed to get through one Awakening playthrough. I keep promising myself I'll do another one but haven't managed to pull it off yet. I think not having a romance option makes that game seem boring to me.Reika wrote...
I've done, um. 7? Playthroughs, all Couslands I'm afraid, though Marlana is my "canon" Cousland. 2 Awakenings playthroughs, but tbh Awakenings doesn't have the replayability Origins does for me.

Oh yes, I'm definitely dwarflike in that regard myself. Disposition too from what I've been told.

I would have -- probably not on my cannon save but somewhere along the way I'd have done a PC or two that would have romanced Anders if that were possible, despite being queen or Alistair's love. *bows head in shame*TheGrumpyOne wrote...
Would any of you cheated on Alistair given the option?

THAT is too funny! Just goes to show that someone mentions the magic phrase "Naked Alistair" and I'm there!

I don't think he'd freak out. On the contrary, I think he'd be incredibly touched and honored. Conversations leading up to First Knight lead me to believe that he takes physical romance very seriously. The fact that the PC is not only ready to experience physical love for the first time but ready to experience it for the first time with him no doubt must be a "wow!' moment for him.
I just wish there was a dialogue option for that too. We have a "Follow my lead, Alistair" option already. Why not a "This is my first time also but I want it to be with you"?

Oh my... can just imagine the scene right now.
Denerim Market District. Everyone is going on about there business as usual. A couple of people are gossiping about the darkspawn.
Suddenly a man appears, flustered and catching his breath. He stops in the middle of the district, looking around with wild eyes. As soon as his breath has gotten normal he lifts his arms up and shouts to get everyone's attention.
"Alistair is duelling Loghain!!!!"
*Silence*
"And he's nak...ooomph"
The man crumples to the ground. His attacker is none other than MageTarot. He glares at the group of Alistair fan girls who have appeared from nowhere.
"Back down ****es. Naked Alistair is mine!"
*MageTarot runs to the Landsmeet chamber with hordes of squeeing Alistair fangirls behind him*

Hm, that's actually a good idea. I hadn't thought about that. But I'll admit, all the dialogue options regarding the romance with Alistair assumes that the Warden is experienced which irritated me. The original version of Marlana was a virgin of noble origin mainly because she had trust issues. The DAO version just hadn't met anyone that interested her enough until she met Alistair and her heart made this funny little thud.
Wynne's conversation during the inital romance ticked me off, because I really wanted the option to say "What makes you think I have that much more experience?", when getting lectured by her. I honestly believe that Bryce was extremely protective of his daughter in that way. If not Fergus for his little sister. Eleanor, otoh, was ready to throw her at any interested male that would make an offer for Marlana's hand.
And to everyone else who responded, thank you. It's great to have outside perspective.
