Hm, that's actually a good idea. I hadn't thought about that. But I'll admit, all the dialogue options regarding the romance with Alistair assumes that the Warden is experienced which irritated me. The original version of Marlana was a virgin of noble origin mainly because she had trust issues. The DAO version just hadn't met anyone that interested her enough until she met Alistair and her heart made this funny little thud.

Wynne's conversation during the inital romance ticked me off, because I really wanted the option to say "What makes you think I have that much more experience?", when getting lectured by her. I honestly believe that Bryce was extremely protective of his daughter in that way. If not Fergus for his little sister. Eleanor, otoh, was ready to throw her at any interested male that would make an offer for Marlana's hand.

And to everyone else who responded, thank you. It's great to have outside perspective.

It bugs me to see F!Cousland (great I'm typing it that way and still don't understand wtf it means) portrayed as some kind of ho. WTF is that about anyhow? Not only in games, but alot of fics too. I don't get it.  I agree her parents would have certainly raised her better. It's been too long since I played one, Elea is sitting in Lothering waiting for Jaina to hurry the heck up...lol

While you can play a virgin HN, I think the fact that your parents and brother are so completely apathetic upon hearing that you've seduced some guy or girl you barely know is more the reaction of people used to such shenanigans than people who learn that their darling child is planning to lose their virginity that night to a virtual stranger.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying that you cannot, should not, or that it is in any way unrealistic to play a virgin HN. I just think the possible ONS and attempted threesome might have something to do with why people (and the game, it seems) assume that that isn't the case.

I think the reason why so many people think the FemCousland is a ho because of the Sweet Dairren quest (which I haven't done on Marlana, but did do when I played vanilla Elissa) and one of his comments is that she has a "reputation" when invited to sleep with her.

I've always ended up seducing one of them (usually Iona because Dairren was too...bleh) but do they ever get upfront enough you need to be noncommital? Since you're the Teyrn's son/daughter and they're either an elf servant or a lesser noble coming along to carry Bryce's stuff, it would really seem a bit out there for them to be propositioning you. Just don't hit on them and definitely don't invite them back to your room and they don't bring it up, right?

What Giggles said, they do mention wanting to talk with you later and the conversations hint around at them being interested. I think the actual proposition comes from the HN.



I did do the Sweet Dairren quest once, seeing the poor guy get cut down in his smallclothes was a trifle disturbing.

Shouldn't a growling dog and yelling be warning enough that something is amiss? Granted, they probably would've died anyway, but still. Just bugs me.

Hahahah - my HNM honed in on Darrien like a shark who senses blood in the water. I wanted to establish right away what team my noble batted for as well as basically telling Darrien "you too can be had".

I could be really evil at this point and make some sort of karmic comment about how an arrow in a chest trumps a conversation about someone's "rep"...but I won't.

I played my first Cousland girl as a virgin too. You can say "No, I haven't" in the lamppost conversation, at least.



I'm running an Aedan now, and he did seduce Iona. That scene was harsh, though not as harsh as finding Oren. I kind of still can't believe they did that.

Correct.  I wasn't even aware you could bed them my first couple of play throughs.  I have 3 HNs.  My canon, who is a virgin.  Aeryn who seduces Dairran, but she doesn't just sleep around.  And Aedan who will try for anything that walks by.

I've played one virginal Cousland (my first "real" PC) and had no problems role-playing that with Alistair, even given the dialogue. I would think, too, that Wynne would assume anyone who had been raised outside of the Chantry would be more worldly than someone raised in the Chantry, even if both parties were virgins. 

Ironically, I'm writing a bit about my amoral Cousland and some of her pre-Blight shenanigans...I know that Alistair knew what he was getting into with her (since she's not exactly ashamed or shy about it), but it definitely changes the relationship dynamic when you play someone who is very, very experienced (and who is sexually adventurous and not one to need any sort of emotional attachment to jump into bed) versus someone who has the same views on physical intimacy as Alistair.

Re the lamppost bit, that I freely admit I'm having fun with that option because Marlana did lick a lamppost in winter. A real lammpost, when she was 8 because Fergus dared her to do it. 

And yes, there is a very big difference in dynamic between an experienced person and inexperienced. I've RPed from both perspectives, just never had the inexperienced and inexperienced setup.

Well, at the risk of TMI, my first time in RL was with another virgin (on my 18th birthday!). We were in love, knew each other well, and had been building up to it slowly, but we still had no idea what we were doing. It was painful for me and I think a little distressing for him because of that, but we still both felt proud of ourselves afterwards, and it was definitely a very intimate bonding moment.

I think the thing to avoid in that kind of a fic is having it be OMG AMAZING AND PERFECT, because with two people who don't really know what they're doing, there's going to be awkward moments and they're not really going to know exactly how to get each other off, even if they are totally in love and totally thrilled with each other.

I played none of my Couslands as virgins. It just doesn't seem right ... or rather ... it's a bit too much sugar for my tastes. My favourite Cousland is at bit older than Alistair, it's natural for her to have some experience. She's discret about it, so Dairren or Iona were out of question.

There is a line you get from Dairren when you tell him your passion is making love and he tells you he is aware of your reputation. 

I've played my HNFs as virginal & worldly.

There's only a scene for the HNF and Iona. It's from "that" mod (look for the most popular one on the projects page). The only thing truly worth it from that mod in my view. Then again, the scene was done by a different modder and it was simply included in the package.
