Good morning!

Someone yesterday was asking about less revealing mage robes.  I'm too sleepy to search back to find out who.

I like this collection - http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=118

Yes, something like talented mage steps out of line and insults Templar Commander so has to choose between being disciplined or joining the GWs and getting the hell out of Dodge...

Er Clones are iffy, mine keep trying to kill me and its hard for people to keep track of them all.
I just build androids know, because at least they have an off switch.

Can you imagine what a dozen of me could do?

Agreed about the alternative to getting out of the Mage Tower, I can't see any character of mine being a friend with Jowan.

I don't find it impossible that Alistair and Leliana hooks up if the PC dies during the joining. Leliana is compassionate at heart and I think they would understand each other quite well.

That is still is a delicate subject for most Alistair fans. You should of seen and read the old gush thread... Leliana was killed quite a lot or not recruited in many playthroughs after that DLC.

Kinda annoying that people got offended over a two bit recycled AU DLC that didnt even amuse for an hour.
Horse Armour was a better buy that that.

Also I ducked out for a while when that was going on.

Or a very awkward silence where every one is just standing around and not doing anything.
Then we could spike the punch and watch the hilarity ensue.

I love those parties.

Oh my god I completely agree with this. I have ALWAYS hated Jowan and I have said many times before the the Mage origin is completely lacking emotionally compared to the other origins. It sucks.
I mean
HN: Their family gets killed by Arl Howe. They barely escape.
Dalish: Their best friend/lover disappears after having released the taint from a mirror. PC gets sick and gets recruited to find a cure. They still don't know what happens to Tamlen until you know... that scene (don't want to spoil)
Dwarf noble: Either kills their brother or gets accused of killing their brother. Get exiled from the only place they know and escaped because they are lucky to find Duncan.
DC: Well, its a hellofalot more awesome than Jowan.
CE: Either future wife gets kidnapped by Vaughan, or PC gets kidnapped by Vaughan. CEF fiancee gets killed after having infiltrated the estate to save her. A lot of emotion there, depending on how you play it.
And then ofc, we have Mages. Mages.
Jowan, a high squeeking whining dork who just generally sucks at being a mage is shagging an initiate and wants your help to escape otherwise he will be made tranquil. EIther you help, or you're forced to help. You leave the Tower either way. Um.... ok.

I decided to pass on the Darkspawn Chronicles, i've never been a lover of hack/slash games. I have no intentions of ever buying it.

I think that's why I haven't been able to connect to playing a mage character. Honestly, I would've told Irving to go shove his staff up his butt for playing games with Jowan like that. Provided I was even friends with him. I've known guys like Jowan irl, I can't stand them there and can't put up with them in my games. Then you have the jerk show up again in Recliffe and in the Urn of Sacred Ashes. It's like you can't get away from him.

I would've preferred getting recruited from Duncan straight after my Harrowing. After going through that, I would've been ready to tell them to go sod off.

Though I loved the irony of the Alistair romance with a mage warden.

IMO they could've given it so much potential. With the Harrowing and the tranquil. They could've made it so that a good friend/lover (NOT Jowan) dies in the Harrowing afterwards OR they could've played around with the Cullen/fem mage story. They have an affair which is discovered and Duncan saves you from punishment and by the time you're back at the Circle, Cullen is so traumatized he doesn't even want to look at you anymore. Something along those lines.

ONT though. Why did people get so upset over Alistair/Leliana. I mean if your PC was dead what was the problem? It's not like your PC is going to come haunting the camp and sneak into Alistair's tent from some ghost sex.

Yeah, there really was a lot of potential there. But they went with Jowan.

Not only that, your PC died in the joining, Alistair wouldn't have had a chance to even get to know her for a kiss much less anything else. That's not why I didn't get DSC, it just didn't have any appeal for me. Heck, I'm regretting getting WH.

Leliana's Song was interesting though. Makes you wonder which is the truth, the story she told the Warden or the story in the DLC.

I agree about the mage origin story.  It's really lame and it forces the player into going along with Jowan, even if you do report him to Irving.  That's why I usually play a Dalish mage now that I got the mod.  That said ... I actually found myself kinda liking Jowan after a few playthroughs.  Yes, he's a total idiot.  But he means so well.  And in some playthroughs, it's nice that he goes off to help refugees.

And Leliana ... I guess I might be one of the few Alistair lovers who is kinda happy that in that awful AU scenario, he had someone to be close to.  I didn't like her character much until I played her dlc, but I think I have a better understanding of her now, and she doesn't sit at camp nearly as much these days.  I still won't play DSC though.  No interest.

I was actually glad to read that in the codex. I'd rather Alistair had at least some happiness in that awful AU.

Edit: Heh, count me as another one of the few, tuppence. *fistbump*

Hm, what's the name of the Dalish mage mod? I'd be interested in trying it out since I normally love playing casters.

And no, I couldn't blame Alistair and Leliana getting together, they've got quite a bit in common. I've always liked Leliana, in my head I could see her being the one (Besides Alistair) to remind my Warden that life is more than just death, destruction and tragedy.

Excellent, thanks, I was interested in this, as well.  What I really want is a Human Noble Mage, but that's never going to happen.  Love playing an AW, and love the HNO, but can never combine the two...aww poor me...lol!

I, for one, was so hesitant in playing DSC, but found I had an absolute blast killing off my former party members.  And since Alistair had 'gotten together' with Leliana, whom I have little love for, I had no compunction in making the deathfest a clean sweep.  Really, it's so divorced from DA:O reality that your emotions for your former team members/love(s) play no part in it.   It was simply fun to play once.  I'd play it again, but there's no 'Haste' and I found movement SO slow.

Speaking of Jowan going off to help the refugees, my current Dalish mage released him at Redcliffe.  Once she finishes Orzammar and Sacred Ashes, she'll be ready for LM.  And Jowan's quest still hasn't triggered.  I know it was always buggy and in the past, I'd have to use the console to get there, but I always was able to get the quest.  I've been checking the chantry board, and it never showed up.  I wonder if they removed it in the latest patch?

I like to pretend that the AU never happened for different reasons, it was the worst thing BW have ever churned out. The DLC had no story, character development or replayability. The leliana romance didn't bother me at all, because it was only implied in one codex. You didn't actually hear or see anything, like romantic dialog or them kissing on the roof of Fort Draken.

I've seen it since 1.04, tuppence

Edit: Let me clarify that, I've seen it in my quest log, not on the board itself since 1.04.  (I was playing a mage)

I just ran that game again, and the Jowan quest was there after redcliffe.

Well for one ... it was only *rumored* that Alistair and Leliana were lovers in DSC. Doesn't mean it actually happened though for one I didn't care as it was an AU.

And yeah it was fun running through and killing former companions and some of the npc's hehe. Until the end. The end was just omg ><
