I don't like to use a tank, myself. But of course, with two or more warriors, they naturally draw fire away from a mage or rogue. I can't help but think this discussion would happen, otherwise.tuppence95 wrote...

About the amount of damage the sword and shield spec does ...
I always considered that the "tank" spec. Alistair's (or any s&s warrior's) sole purpose in combat is to draw enemies to him and absorb as much damage as possible, while the higher-damage-output but lighter armored party members kill them off. At least from too much time spent as a tank in WoW, I didn't think they were meant to do a lot of damage. That's why, as soon as I get my party better equipped, I switch him to dual weapons.
Does that make sense? Or am I just revealing my WoW nerdage?
It makes perfect sense of course!
Don't get me wrong, I know that the S&S warrior is perfect for the tank role. However I really wish that talents for said build focused on both the sword and the shield. All twelve talents are shield related, not a single one is focused on the sword, making the build almost entirely defensive, which makes it really unappealing to use on my main PC.
Also I don't even like to play with a tank, I go for a purely offensive party. Kill them before they can lift a finger!
I also really prefer warriors with damage skills instead of defense. That's why I usually re-spec Alistair as soon as my party gets better equipped and why I am not planning on playing a s&s warrior myself. Once my other melee companions get heavier armor, they seem to draw more attacks and my mage doesn't get jumped on quite as much. But I do love Alistair's Taunt ability. All the attackers are drawn to him like a magnet and he can tough it out. It's hot.
'Okay, Alistair, see all those darkspawn? You go out there and wave your arms and yell stuff at them so the all attack you and not us."
"Ummm...what will you be doing?"
"We'll attack them while they're beating the crap out of you."
"Couldn't we just, you know, fight them?
"This is less expensive."
"Expensive? Seriously? I feel so cherished."
Top of page again--so that's two pictures I'll be making later....
