Anyone play a male prince consort and betray alistair? did you have a valid reason to betray him? I'm trying to write a fan fic.

Since Alistair takes simply sparing Loghain as the worst betrayal that could ever happen to him ever and Anora's the one who wants him dead but can be talked down to exile, you might want to consider less reasons to 'betray' him and more why you'd want to keep Loghain alive.

Keep in mind, if you're writing a fanfic there's no reason not to sit Riordan down before the Landsmeet, explain that you have no idea about any of the GW secrets, learn that the one who kills the Archdemon dies, and want to recruit Loghain for that.

In one of WiP's my Suranna has a nice chat with Avernus, much to the same purpose. Of course she also never let Alistair anywhere near Soldier's Peak. She took Team Pragmatic (Sten, Zevran and Shale) to clear it with her.

I intend to have Alistair well-aware of the GW sacrifice requirement by the time of the Landsmeet. Of course, I can't imagine that he'd think it was worth it but at least he'll have some sort of reason he can understand (though not agree with) instead of 'WTF? Why did she just spare our mortal enemy and make him one of us?'

Sad that Riordian didnt tell him to cork it, and wait for a reason why.

Than again I doubt he would have listened to him at all.

Ah yes, the delightful fellow who suggested that Cailan had mistresses because Anora must therefore be crap in bed. Such an enlightened chap.

I have to say I've avoided the DA2 forum due to all the trolling that goes on there. Despite my stance on certain characters in Origins and the debate they cause, I find this a more welcoming place.

Agreed there are far to many fanbois and trolls there to even consider going in there.
Mostly I read the zingers Gaider has, or what Mary K has to say.

Hmm Giggles - I think Alistair was too angry to listen at that point. Shame they couldn't have a recess.

On my few visits to the Mass Effect forum, I've noticed that it's more...let's just say aggressive. The DA2 forum seems to be more like that than like the DA:O forum.

This place is sort of a safe haven for me. Here you can have healthy (and a few not so healthy) debates, without the discussion resorting to name calling within five minutes. Also, most of the topics here are meaningful discussions, not crap like "are the elves jews?". If you must know, that troll did create that topic on the DA2 forums. He also created a topic asking why one of his "friends" (his other accounts) was banned.

That's why I'm so bothered with that troll coming over here to ruin things. I'm reporting him the next time he does something stupid.

Because I am feeling a bit random today, I thought I'd share this with the Alistair thread. It's proof that all that NBA'ing I make Alistair do is for a good cause:

Somehow we have to figure out how to get NBA to point at the screen so we can do an I WANT YOU Grey Wardens poster.

The girls will be running for the darkspawn cocktail.

Just use the pointing animation that Teagan uses, with a cutscene editor.

Oh holy crap! A while back I found a mod called Glory of the Griffon, but on my 1920x1200 laptop screen it looked like attack of the sparkle fairies! I just tried it on this monitor, which is HD, and at 1920x1080 and it looks so much better! I don't know what made the difference but yay!

We need this but in NBA attire. If I wasn't  at work right now I'd give it a shot. Only 15 more minutes, perhaps when I get home.

I think Gaider basically summed it up best.

The bad thing on Alistair's part was not feeling angry and betrayed by the Warden sparing Loghain, and thus, leaving the party. He was justified from his side of things and from other perspectives. Gaider said the bad thing Alistair did was abandoned the Blight. In otherwords, even if he left your company, he didn't show up later on the rooftop fighting the AD like the others. A descision that, if he's not executed, he will grow to regret.

And I agree with gaider on this one. I believe Alistair is right in leaving the Warden if they spare Loghain, telling you to get stuffed. But he should have, at least, as an army of one, so to speak, turned up for the final battle one last time to fight off the darkspawn/AD. Of course, if Alistair has been exiled, this would be pretty hard for him to do, but if he was made king, then he could have, as a king.

I agree with this. I've only done it on that one "oops" playthrough, and he was exiled. So at least THAT part makes sense. But what happens to your relationship if you ALMOST spare Loghain, but instead make Alistair king when he demands it? Are there ANY repercussions then?

No. You lose approval, but you can pretty much get that back (I could, I had so many friggin gifts left over), as well as in dialogue choices and such. It isn't unrepairable. It's like many other things in the game, your companions have short term memories alot of the time.

My feeling on this is that while the fact that Loghain was spared and he was betrayed drives him to drink, it's the fact that he wasn't there to fight the archdemon, that keeps him drinking years after he might otherwise have stopped. We don't know how he might deal with that guilt if king and married to Anora, but there's probably something. Hopefully it's more constructive.

I don't see any way that he could have stayed with the party and kept any self respect, but he's certainly going to regret not finding some way to fight the blight.

Okay, y'all, I"m back. Along with a 'changing language keyboard' it seems, so forgive the strange punctuation at times.

It took me quite a while to read everything I missed as you've been very busy. The awful news is about the MIA Grumpy :( Hopefully that won't be forever.

Still catching up, and I have a screen to find to compare with one of the Alistair mod heads I saw here, but glad to be back.

@errant_knight....some really kickass screens you've created!  Congrats, they are seriously fabulous.

@Giggles ... lol. I mean, I can understand huge approval bumps for special gifts like the Andraste's Grace flowers for Leliana. Oh and those blue satin slippers should have been a special gift too with the way she likes shoes. Or Alistair's mother's amulet or Duncan's shield. But hey look at this pretty shiny ring! oooo! Yeah those should have had like no rewards based on certain actions. But I'm not sure how complex they could really make the approval system.

Or, if you game Bodahn, you can give Morrigan three shiny gold necklaces in rapid succession. I'm pretty sure my approval would drop if I were given three identical necklaces by the same person one after another.

Speaking of gifts was anyone else surprised that the Joining Chalice from RtO wasn't more of a special gift? I mean I was kind of expecting some sort of short cutscene or some other acknowledgement than the standard "I could get used to this" or "Is this for me? Wow!" response that Alisatir gives. I was like seriously? Oh come on!

@inclemency - lovely Warden you have there.

Hmm... could Leliana be turning to Sten for companionship since my Warden didn't hook up with her?

This was just a general return to camp scene and not after the darkspawn fight or anything. And, to stay on topic those little pixels in the background are our leading man.
