*sigh* Alistair in Amaranthine <3 I wish he had been there. Oh, such a missed possibility of DA:A, really. And no, Anders is NOT a sufficient substitute

Youre correct about Anders.
He is no substitue...

He is the better in every way!

And with that I bid you ladies good night.

SNIP OF AWESOME
And therefore for me completely irrelevant. Good night :wizard:

I agree with this. I've only done it on that one "oops" playthrough, and he was exiled. So at least THAT part makes sense. But what happens to your relationship if you ALMOST spare Loghain, but instead make Alistair king when he demands it? Are there ANY repercussions then?

In my experience, it just made the post-Landsmeet dumping worse, cause he was all like "I never wanted to be king but I guess I understand why you made that decision"

and I'm like "uh because you ASKED ME TO"

and he's like "But now I have to dump you for the good of Ferelden, and keep in mind that I never wanted this!"

and I'm like "You did! You did want it! You specifically did!"

and then he goes "Need to be alone now bye"

and my PC is all *woecakes*

Oh the first time I had that was an elf mage, she let Alistair behead Loghain, no mention of sparing him, and he friggin claims the danged throne...THEN BLAMED HER!! Bastard.

Wait, wait. This sounds like a hardened Alistair who claims the throne dumps the pc? No mistress? I have never had Alistair claim the throne on his own, he only ever dueled Loghain once and was unhardened.

yeah, if you fail the persuade check (or don't take it), he'll still dump the PC.

If he is hardened and your PC is not a HNF he claims the throne right after beheading Loghain. TIs the reason why I'm always the one killing Loghain. *whistles*

Oh right, the persuade check. Forget about that.

I dueled Loghain, I let Alistair kill him as it felt right, he then declared himself king and tried to dump me. It didn't work, I saw (persuade) and jumped on it with a big fat prayer...lol

I have yet to do a hardened non-king Alistair. I usually harden for HNF and not for my mage, but this time I was going for hardened. So my mage shouldn't even give him the nod after she duels Loghain? They are supposed to run off as GW's but I alway like to let him do he beheading.

How do I get a non HNF to get Alistair to run away with her and do "warden stuff"

I only harden Alistair in the Playthroughs where I already know I will spare Loghain. I rarely go for the Wandering Drunk ending and even less for his execution ending.

I harden him every time, no matter if king or not. To leave him how he is, is like assisting to the mistakes that had been made in the past. He needs to learn to stand up for himself and to care about his needs more. Therefore he's always hardened...but yeah don't let him kill Loghain then. (I know that well enough, because he's more often a Warden than king in my games)

Or hold the Goldanna visit off for after the LM. Haven't tried it, but it should work.

Kill Loghain yourself and then make Anora solo queen.

The way I did it:
DONT Harden him.
Duel Loghain yourself, and kill him.
Give the throne to Anora, and Alistair will GLADLY give up his claim.

There you go!
Everybody wins!

Except Loghain, Eamon, and possibly Anora.

Works. It's especially neat if he's king, if I remember that correctly.

I know we've talked about canon characters a lot, especially in regards to the Alistair relationship. I'm toying with the idea of doing an AU fic that involves my canon Cousland, canon Mahariel and canon Amell and, since my canon Amell was trapped on my PS3, I recreated her for PC:

Don't let the surfer dude hair fool you, Mistress Chancellor Lucilla is hardcore. Of all my characters, I consider her to be The One for Alistair. I actually can't wait to see them in action together with all the tent stuff and additional scenes. It's been ages since I've actually played through the Alistair romance in a traditional way.

My first mage I had no idea you could harden him, that was a WC ending. Next was another mage and  I think I knew but didn't really know what it accomplished other than the possible mistress ending and I wasn't making him king. I always harden him now but since my first princess cous cous I haven't finished mage yet. I do intend to hardnen him from now on, though.

On that note...goodnight and see you in the morning.Image IPB

I'm actually going to play a non-HNF or male warden just so I can see awesomesauce Alistair make himself king. It really bugs me the way it reverts to unhardened to allow the HNF to make herself queen. I sort of wish that was established a different way. On the other hand, when he's hardened you get some good dialogue about hime wanting to be king, so six of one, half dozen of the other, I suppose.

I have Ron and Destructo Mage still out there. I think Destructo Mage is toast since she didn't play nice and fell in love with Leliana instead of Alistair. Lucilla will take her place.

Absolutely beautiful, errant_knight

For KoP:  Morrigan is kicking some serious butt in my current game, lol she's 'walking-bomb'ing' everything in sight and with Deathblows it's a blood explosion fest.   Lol, her friendly fire damage is the most I've ever had in a game and we're only level 16:
