My first mage I had no idea you could harden him, that was a WC ending. Next was another mage and I think I knew but didn't really know what it accomplished other than the possible mistress ending and I wasn't making him king. I always harden him now but since my first princess cous cous I haven't finished mage yet. I do intend to hardnen him from now on, though.
On that note...goodnight and see you in the morning.![]()

For KoP: Morrigan is kicking some serious butt in my current game, lol she's 'walking-bomb'ing' everything in sight and with Deathblows it's a blood explosion fest. Lol, her friendly fire damage is the most I've ever had in a game and we're only level 16:

That's how she rolls.
She's the epitom of badass
And her love for explosions is put to good use in other places.

Oh well, in my first CousCous playthrough I didn't know about the hardening mechanics, so Alistair ended unhardened on the throne *wince* but at least he had a wifeySince then I learned my lesson and do the "Stand up for yourself"- option right

He is very cute there, but I'm pretty sure he's thinking 'Maker! What an ass.'Merilsell wrote...
@errant: Awwwww, I think I just died of cute. Especially that one in the middle. Puppy dog eye- attack deluxe. His weapon of choice xD

(I know that well enough, because he's more often a Warden than king in my games)
Or hold the Goldanna visit off for after the LM. Haven't tried it, but it should work.
I dislike the whole idea of hardening, and think the whole experience of losing the Wardens and fighting the Blight would harden Alistair naturally with or without my PC and her reaction to Goldanna. So I always harden him and just ignore the game mechanic.Riona45 wrote...

To be honest I dislike the "hardening" option--or, more specifically, if I had said the line that you have to say it would have been completely out of character for my (mage) PC.
I just made Anora the queen and Alistair stayed with me--perfect ending IMO.

The last of my reworked images of Alistair in Amaranthine....
I didn't mean for these to be Alistair trying to be polite, but about to fail utterly, but that seems to be what happened.
It's not the dialogue, it's the whole idea that in one conversation Alistair changes his orientation to life based on something my PC says. That is... ridiculous. I know the Warden is god almighty, but like I said, I think the whole experience of the Blight is a hardening one so I just ignore it. I'm not sure about Leliana, it seems a different setup for her but since I don't pay attention to her character anyway, can't really compare the two.tuppence95 wrote...

cmessaz's mod helps me rp the hardening process. The dialog choices are much better for my warden!

This used to be my position, but the more I play my Dalish, Carys, the more I'm coming to realize that she's not going to harden him. I don't know what it is about her that's made me change my mind. I think it's that after everything she's lost, she feels the need to provide him with that sense of complete acceptance she had with her clan.
