Most likely I will ignore the entire segment and pretend I did the Harrowing long ago (and what was shown is a flashback) and this kid Jowan wants some tips.

That is a really neat idea, I like it!

Considering I've also come up with some contrived explanations for some of my characters (some of them REALLY contrived), I say go for it.

Still wouldn't explain why I am in the apprentice quarters :?

Makes me wonder why the game has old skin tones in the first place.

Ah, to hell with it. You're a mentor to the apprentices or something like that.

Although I agree about the old skin tones. A HN can look older than their parents... <_<

EDIT: Top... if it wasn't for Deviantart, I wouldn't have anything to post for tops.

I had to spare loghain for the first time today. I did it for role playing reasons, and I took the throne. I almost didn't go through with it because I would lose Alistair. He is my favorite squad member in DA:O.

Congratulations on seeing it through, DYL. I still have yet to add the Loghain accolades to my list but every time I get to the Landsmeet...I just can't do it. I tell myself "it's only a game" but you go through so much with Alistair and to betray him like that...

Oy.

I first saw the ultimate betrayal (Loghain spared, Alistair sentenced for execution) play out from a clip on youtube. I was depressed for two days after. Image IPB

I felt the same way when I watched someone spoil the urn, and show all the ways he killed Leliana.
Made me sick inside.

Bioware is the master at emotional gut punches.

Wear earplugs and go "LALALALALALLALA" loudly until the mage origin is over?

Quite frankly said out of those simple reasons (and because I romance Alistair in 98% of my games) Loghain dies every time. I don't want to miss my Alistair, plain and simple.

I can't say that I hate Loghain, exactly, I just don't want him to be in the same camp like me/my character. Lol. Playing it the one time for the achievement and got to know Loghain's lines was enough for me. Good my Warden hated his guts and fed him to the archdemon with a smile in her face, but it was still bleh. :pinched:

I thought for a moment (after Loghain baffled me with his "don't let anyone tell you you don't belong" comment at Ostagar) that Eilis might spare him this time. Since she's romancing Zevran. But then I remembered she'll have to rescue her father from the slavers thanks to him >.<

Though, I suppose...I could believe it was HOWE'S idea, and Loghain was so wrapped up in his paranoia and guilt and grief by then that he really didn't know what he was agreeing to, and Howe was taking advantage of his clouded mental state.

Ohhh I could also romance Alistair til we find out he's going to be king...how do you end it and get the "still in love"  flag set? And does "still in love" get removed if you trigger another companion's "love" level?

(considers making Eilis the most complicated Warden she's ever played)

That sounds fukked up lol. Errm afaik you have to end it with the "where do we go from here" dialogue after you got to know he will become king or is a candidat for that. Should work.

Isn't there a part where Jowan mentions the PC is younger than him? I can't remember that well since I hate the mage origin so much I block most of it from my mind.

*high five* :wizard:

I love mages, they rock. But playing the mage origin makes me want to kill a kitten. And I like kitten, actually.

Oh I wanna do bad things to Jowan and this is meant in a total gory flame him to death - way. Nothing else. BARF

Although I am curious why he wouldn't have taken his Harrowing until he was late middle-aged. Wynne's dialogue about her age and yours would be fun, though.

That too. Sigh. I don't know how I can explain this.
Maybe his harrowing is responsable for him looking so old? Or some magical experiment? I have no idea.

Most likely I will ignore the entire segment and pretend I did the Harrowing long ago (and what was shown is a flashback) and this kid Jowan wants some tips.

for my mage I play her as being partially blind. It was brought on by a tragic event. The event  is her father was away because he's a soldier in Highever . Her mother and her were at there home when they were attacked by bandits. Leonai was being held and witnessed her mother being "touched" ( I won't use the real terms on how it plays out because I don't want to offend anyone who may have gone thru it) . Leonai freaks out and explodes a spell out of her (before this she never knew she had any powers,it was kind of like "Surprise your a mage!!"

(my refrence from this is in a book called Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson where they don't know there powers til something traggic happens. )She paralizes the entire group and her mother and people find her unconcious on the floor. Leonai later on when she recovers is taken to the Circle, told her eye sight would return but it never fully does. leaving her with limited sight. She can make out outlines and shapes, and she can see bright colors but relies mostly on her other senses. Hence why she is fond of Mino the mabari. Phew !!:D

@ Briell. Huh, that is a very interesting backstory. I should focus on those more, I usually focus on the story in the game period. Thanks for sharing! :)

Welcome:D. I just always see my gals that aren't nobles as having come from somewhere at one point. I started off my fanfic with Leonai having a nightmare of that night. Course she wants a leash for Jowan so she can chain him somewhere and he can't bother her anymore. She finds his voice whiney and piercing on her ears.:pinched:

I couldn't do it. For the first time I let Jowan use blood magic on Isolde to save Connor. I felt so guilty that I went back to a previous save and let Jowan go instead. It just felt so wrong. What surprised me the most was that Morrigan disapproved. Maybe on my next mage playthrough I'll have the stomach for the rutial, but I just can't do it now. especially with Alistair frowning with disapproval. (Heavy sigh). At least I persuaded him that letting Jowan go wasn't a bad thing.

Yeah, playing a mage is fun. Getting a mage past the freaking origin is awful.

Yeah I know, but the only drunk Alistair ending I have is on my first HNF and her saves are all fubar. I'd like at least ONE just in case, but probably has more effect as his LI than someone that already broke up with him. I guess Surana could do it...Ugh.

I looked up Rica's in the toolset when I created my Brosca, same with Shianni, Tamlen, Couslands, etc. The only ones that were out of whack in the toolset are the Couslands and Alistair (32, that means twenty years in the chantry, training as a templar without taking vows...just not plausible given their controlling and demanding nature)

I understand that you took those ages from the toolset.  My point was that I, as a regular player who has not dabbled in the toolset, judged the characters in my stories to be of different ages based on how I interpreted the storyline as I played through the game.

I think the difference between you and me is that I don't care if what I want to pretend about fictional characters is true to the devs intent or not.  I like playing my game, creating my fantasy, my way and thanks to the beauty of this game being so versatile, I can do just that.

As I've said before neither do I. I in fact clearly stated I'd play mine as younger regardless because it is in fact MY fantasy world, and IRL I am 36 and have big fat real life marriage and family responsibilities, so I don't want to be middle aged in my fake world. Not a single person has said "no you cannot do it that way, that's wrong and you suck!"  I was simply saying where I found them the first time, and what prompted me to do it in the first place, my view on my playing of said game, and what I found in the process.

LOL at Jess. Yeah, I can see how being 30 something you'd prefer playing a 20 something. I'm 41 and am happy as a clam to be playing a 30 something Warden. Would I want to play a 40 something Warden? No way! For much the same reasons you don't want to play a Warden closer to your age.

I am actually happy with my age. When I hit 30 it was like something clicked and I stopped caring about all the silly stuff that you care about when your in your teens and 20's. I think some of that is because of where I live tho. In my 32 yrs I have seen more of the world than most. I have been to all the states and a good portion of the overseas countries. Course that was because my dad was in the military. I remember moving back to the states after living in Germany and not knowing any english. So i'm happy where I'm at and wouldn't mind playing a 30 something Warden.

Some is also that I have younger friends and I see the "crisis's they go thru right now " heck I know some women around here in there 40's that still haven't managed to get past being in there 20's. But I digress

I like playing my characters tho in there mid to late 20's . I can relate better. That's how I like it tho.

He can't help it that he's so ... well ... stupid.  But he means well.

I used to feel like you do.  I couldn't stand him.  But he grew on me after doing the Jowan's Intentions quest.

My 30th birthday was awesome, and don't take it the wrong way I'm not unhappy with my age, I just portray IT every day, so when I get to play a video game, I want to do things I don't do IRL. Run around with big swords, stab people that get in my way, be a young hot heroine with awesome skills.

I think if I hadn't Lenya's story, Tamlen could have ended similiar in my likings as Jowan does*barf* The stupid friend who can't frikkin listen to reason for a second. Thanks to my Warden I grew attached to Tamlen. Still I want a "slap Tamlen" mod for the DE origin.

Tamlen: "Oh look a mirror, sooo shiny :o
DE: "No touching, idiot *slap*
Tamlen: Ouch...okay. *pout* :crying:

My friends always tease me because I do this as well . I like playing short females with huge weapons that look like they can't or shouldn't be carrying them. I played this game called Torchlight and my gal was packing these 2 HUGE pistols. When I would blow stuff up I'd get all excited . I like being  in the games doing that kind of stuff .:o:O
I swear Alistair is getting tired of me blowing up stuff with walking bomb or virulent bomb...:whistle::wub:
