If I'm not mistaken, he runs to the Chantry. According to the strategy guide, there's no reward or penalty regardless of what you tell him to do.

This evening I tried something new for part of the "Arl of Redcliffe" story arc. I sent Jowan into the Fade to defeat the demon possessing Connor. First Enchanter Irving almost dropped a hot stack on the Arl's Main Hall floor when I made my choice. Funny thing is that I got a +2 approval from Alistair and Wynne. I think it had to do with choosing the "Here's Jowan's chance to redeem himself". Still, I think I made Irving's ticker skip a beat or ten.

I never got the approval from Alistair or Wynne the one time I tried Jowan in the Fade. That was mess, he kept getting his butt smacked down. So I reloaded and sent Morrigan instead who proceeded to kick demonic ass.

Hmmm....maybe it wasn't from sending Jowan in then. I remember choosing dialogue like "I'd never kill a child" and something to the effect of "That is not an option" when discussing sacrifcing Isolde. Maybe those got me the approval bumps.

I think that's the "solution".  I always talk to him, just to get him to shut up.  I hate all the kid voices in DA, they grate on my nerves.

I always send Jowan in now that I've found the possibility. I like letting him redeem himself and take responsibility for fixing his mistakes. The fights get a lot better with the right combination of his available spells, and now I find them fairly easy.

You may get approval from those, I don't know, but you definitely get approval for sending Jowan in sucessfully.

Yeah, I know I got approval for those options. Even on my very first play through I was thinking "Um, blood magic is bad, I just went through the damn tower and I'm not a mage. Blood mage is BAD. Not happening."

LOL!  I can understand that.  I think I just like hearing Alistair yell at me... we always find a sweet way to make up after the fight.
