Agreed. I know someone else put it as the Warden's evolution, mine just saw it as all her choices (what few there were) being taken away from her. Then a huge, unwanted burden put on her shoulders.

Yeah, I suppose if you play a Cousland who is defiant about being a warden (which yes I do play ocassionally). My current one had accepted it.

Uhhh...top

Lol, Amedyr!

I've only been able to look at that pic for a second at a time for fear of doing the same

not so much defiant, I actually played as wanting to become a warden. But there were too many shocking events associated with the Chalice to make me want to see it on a daily basis.

To me, it would remind me of my loss of family . Alistair's painful loss...and so many lives lost. Not to say that the joining was a bad thing, but, it would be pretty painful for me to keep it around.

I suppose you could look at it that way.  It's perfectly valid.

But for me, even with all the crap that came with being a Grey Warden, mine also got something totally awesome out of it:  Alistair.  It would always serve as a reminder of everything that was lost, and also as the beginning of probably the best thing in her life.  All in all, I think the scales tip more in the favor of it being something worth holding on to.

This is a valid point of view as well (well, for my Warden it's not Alistair obviously...). Personally, I still wouldn't want to hold onto it either way, since my PC isn't exactly fond of being a warden.

Many of my wardens saw that so many things in their lives were ending, but the joining (once successfully completed) represented a door opening.  Before the joining, she was left with little to live for, but the Grey Wardens gave her a purpose ... and most of the times, love.

Omg, I just ran the Landsmeet of a previous game and did the Ultimate Betrayal to see Alistair leave the chamber with Anora's guards. I'm feeling slightly sick now, that was just awful to see.

Would rather have him yelling at my pc

Well it took a long, long time and many many many games to be able to do that. Never doing it again...ever!

I've covered most of the the things I've never done in the game as yet, one still awaits, though, which is the GW ending.

One of mine has to do it, since the only one that did has corrupted saves. I just don't know who...either my Brosca or my Tabris. They both romance Zev.

It's more emotional when you do it after romancing Alistair.

One of these days I will probably do the drunk Alistair but never the execution. I don't understand the reason for it, especially after romancing him.

To me...the only real reason is to secure the throne. While it sucks for Alistair, it's true that many would be loyal to his blood and follow him. Mind you, I don't do it either, but I can see it.

It was pretty heartrending since they were in a romance. The game I did it in was pretty heartrending, too. She and Alistair were in a romance, he objected to keeping Loghein alive, left the wardens so made him marry Anora. My warden was so betrayed by Alistair that she left Loghein down at the gate and did the US.

The game was supposed to have a GW ending, but that warden took a left turn somewhere.

Brosca I would say, since I can't see an City elf sparing Loghain with all the slavery crap.

I'm pretty much sure that Lenya would scream "DO NOT WANT" if Alistair would present her the chalice of her Joining, or throw it on his head more likely. It is a far too painful memory of a time where she was overly confused and bitter of the events thrown into a world she didn't know. And all the burden that followed that.

Granted the good thing about is having met Alistair in the end but for her recognizing that, well that's another pair of shoes and takes its times.

I suppose I get that for a HNM marring Anora but for a female pc who is in a romace with Alistair...I just can't imagine.

Alistair: Why? Why would you let be me executed?

I think I would bawl like a baby . I have a hard time being mean in my games . I may make a human male noble to try a mean approach but I would prolly still cry.
