But, this being a game, it's what makes the player happy that really counts. King Alistair makes me happy.

Yeah, unhardened... not a good deal. I try to convince my husband of that. He sees marrying an unhardened Alistair to Anora as a good thing, since Alistair can goof off while Anora rules.inclemency wrote...
I saw an awful ending slide as unhardened king. It said something about avoidance of his duties, or something like that. Think I took a screen of it since it shocked me a bit.

Unhardened sure, but if he's got his love by his side he'll do alright as king.Giggles_Manically wrote...
I think that Alistair is by far happier being a Warden than a King.
Unhardened At least.
Dunno, not telling anyone else what to do, but the Warden ending feels empty to me. Something's not right. That's beside the WRONG I feel in the final pep speech or when the trumpets in Awakening play and it's not Alistair you see there.
I think it's being a Maric fan that does it to me.
Yay!! Long live the king.Zjarcal wrote...

Alistair as unhardened king is my second favorite playthrough. The perfect king in that situation.

I rather like Anora. I've only put Alistair on the throne once and that was with my HN as Queen. I think Alistair would be unhappy as King, despite being hardened. I mean he's obviously a Grey Warden at heart and being King would just take that away from him. It's like watching a Police officer do a desk job or something. In my opinion anyway.
I share your opinion as well.
"I like being a Warden."
That's what he says when asked if we still doesn't want to be King (unhardened). I don't know, when hardened it just feels that he's doing it out of a sense of duty but not because it's what he really wants.
But I don't think we'll find much support here.

It does seem like it was. GW Alistair seems to be loved just as much.

Well, I for one only make him king on 2 playthroughs, as I consider rebuilding the wardens with him as the best outcome of the relationship. Of course Queen Cous is my favorite playthrough, but that doesn't mean I feel that ending is the best.Zjarcal wrote...

Not much support for liking ANora or not much support for not making him king? The two are very different. My PCs who run off with Alistair don't really like Anora, but that doesn't stop them from kidnapping Alistair.
Not much support for not making him king.
It seems there are a few supporting voices.

Heh, well I'm pretty hard and fast. The only GW endings I had were my very 1st pt where I didn't know about hardening and was playing an elf romancing Alistair, and my Dalish blood mage who would not have been able to stay with him otherwise. Even though I wrote about her, her game was not my fave.Yankee23 wrote...
I think it depends on the pc and the rp you play. I don't think too many of us have hard and fast rules on what we do with Alistair.

It's not that there's anything wrong with being a Warden, it just seems kind of dull I guess, and few of my Wardens are happy GWs. Also since Warden Alistair drops off the face of the earth game-wise.
