If it didn't mean heavily modding Awakenings, I would've happily have taken the GW ending and run off to kill talking Darkspawn on my Cous with her beloved. But since he pretty much disappears as a GW, I'm not entirely thrilled with that ending.

I haven't taken anything but a cous into Awakenings and don't think I will if there was an Alistair romance involved.

Well, Queen Cousland does disappear on her own at the end of Awakening. Very WTF moment.

First, lemme *wave* to everyone!  Did a stupid thing yesterday and clicked a link without having my Virus Scanner on and of course the one time in a billion, I caught a nasty virus that took hubby all last night and this morning to fix.  So, needless to say, I've been having serious DA withdrawals!  It's bad enough to be stuck in an Awakening game with no Alistair in sight, but to be away from this forum as well... it was almost too much!  LOL

Seriously...wtf. She's just gone! Queen of Ferelden (consort, whatever) just....poof!

I've taken both a mistress Amell and Queen Cous. Quit playing after Zombistair, haven't played Awakening since...I just don't have the urge.

@Tigress...yes you can. Harden him and tell him that no one can tell the King what to do...etc. (during the landsmeet break up convo)

Speaking of mistresses, I am headed in that direction but can't make up my mind if I should marry him off to Anora. Better the devil you know or the devil you don't?

Since I play in a chaotic fashion anyway by whatever I feel like doing at the moment I never know from game to game who will be left in 'charge' when the dust settles. Its a given on my Canon Couslands (Val and Roland) that they will be co-ruling (in as much as Anora will share the throne with anyone else) but I have kept Anora on the throne solo, married Alistair to her, put Alistair on the throne solo. All the endings fit my PC at the time and were enjoyable to me. Usually I harden him irregardless of kingship or not. I think my next mage play through I will probably leave Anora on the throne and leave him unhardened just to see what (if any) differences he has in the ending dialogue. I do know I hated how he was unhardened at the landsmeet the couple of games I waited till after the LM to do his quest (Have to have him Unhardened or he will seize the throne if you are trying to marry the queen yourself).
And since its a game, enjoying yourself is really the only reason to do any of those things.

My Amell did the GW ending, but I couldn't stand it due to seeing Anora in Awakening, and not getting ANY cameo of Alistair if he wasn't king. So she's Chancellor. And she's my canon mage. Surana is going to do the worst thing ever and spare Loghain, leaving Alistair exiled. Dreading that, but it's the only ending I do not have yet, and I refuse to have him executed.

My Dalish did the GW ending too. But she isn't a canon at all. May not even SEE Awakening. They took Gwaren together though so at least there's an rp reason he isn't there.

One Aeducan let him dump her, and ended up with Zev, the other made him king and kept the relationship but returned to the wardens herself. My Cousland is going to do Queen, and I'm not sure where Brosca and Tabris are going to put him. Neither are romancing him anyhow.

I haven't done the mistress yet but married to Anora at least everyone knows from the get go what the deal is and there no risk of Alistair feeling guilty.

My original plan with Surana was to marry him to Anora for the reasons Anora knew what was going on an accepted it, she knew Anora wasn't going to touch him, and it kept Eamon from making the Noble Buffet line. IMO that's the only Mistress ending anyhow.

Until the game has him get married and says so. Which...huh, could happen in DA2 I suppose, my Amell woul be displeased...lol

I did it with my first DEF, and I think it's a good ending.  Mind you, don't think any babies are coming out of that one.  Decide for yourself if that's a good or bad thing.  LOL

On my canon, I let him rule alone.  I have them finding a queen who swings both ways and has her own mistress.  Saucy, but amicable, and in my mind she does have the heir.  I know not everyone would consider that a happy ending, but in my idea of DA there is no unqualified happy ending.  Just not how DA rolls.

Oh god I hope that mystery gets solved through DA2! I suspect it may, but don't wanna hold my breath.

I have Queen Cousland, A Warden Ending, and a Mistress.



With my Dalish, she will run off with Alistair. With my Dwarf Commoner, Alistair will be king and she will be mistress.



Like I said, you can play this game anyway you want.

haha it's like at the end of Kotor 2 you find out that Revan just disappeared. So many years with different theories to what Revan was doing out in the Outer Rims. So many Carth fangirls who just wanted a happy ending for Revan and Carth. Then you get the announcement:

"Revan never returned from the Outer Rim but hey good news, we're making a Kotor MMO. That's great" *grumbles...hate George Lucas*

If I return to the Alienage, Alistair can have the family he's always wanted, but I can do so much good as queen for my people. So confused!

Oh wow!  Good grief!  I've been playing this game for 10 months and never knew that.  I even downloaded a mod so that my elf could be queen, just to keep Anora off the throne and my elf could keep her man.  I can't wait to get back to Origins and try that next time!

Well, you can always accept "bann" for the Alienage and do good that way, and with the advantage that it's actually IN the game, no mod required. I was going to use that mod for my Amell, but couldn't do it...sigh

There are many definitions of family. I think what Alistair craves is a place where he belongs and has people he cares about and who care about him. Yes, I think he would like the fairy tale but not necessarily at the expence of, imo, his true love. She is enough family for him.
