And the Dalish are irritating (I once talked to Sarel before completing the quests - I was in such a rage after that conversation that I actually considered siding with the Werewolves. Was too much of a chicken to see it through, though -.-)

My Mage did side with the Werewolves. I thought it was going to be a tough RP decision to make, but if you play the human origin (and especially if you talk to Sarel before completing the quest), those elves sure do their best to make it easy. Plus you get Witherfang/Lady of the Forest to fight with you, which is pretty sweet.

Alistair is bored because we're not talking about him. . .

So a group of people who were persecuted and enslaved by yours for centuries (and still occurring) being suspicious of you (and on occasion rude) means you should kill them? That's making it better how?

Fixed.

Why wasn't that an option too?

But NOOOOOOO. . .there's *more* political crap to go through, and intrigues to be plotted, and other peoples' intrigues to be discovered, and OH FOR DOG'S SWEET SAKE CAN WE JUST GET ON WITH IT. If I haven't already, I really start to bond with Sten and Shale at that point. I want to crush heads and scream in Qunari.

Heh, oh I feel you. I frikkin HATE HATE this tedious dwarven politics. I loved Shale in my FF, who has suggested "to throw all the midgets into the Proving arena and the last one alive shall be king" I have a sad that this is not an option in the game :crying:

It's funny, I had no problems writing up the Orzammar politics thing, only because writing it up can be more interesting, I'm stuck at writing up about going from Ortan Thaig to the Dead Trenches and I'm not sure why.

'Tis a fairly long way, isn't it? On the map it looks like a two weeks trip at least, if I'm right. Writing about the politics is more fun because you actually have the possibility to tell STFU to everyone. I miss to do this dearly in the real game.

Frustrated Lenya is frustrated. Honestly that she didn't go on a killing spree so far is a miracle to me.

It doesn't. It's an extremely bad move politically. But my Mage doesn't care about politics. All she saw was on the one hand, a suspicious, blindly prejudiced group of people whose solution to a problem was to hide from it (and then snark from behind a tree), and another group of people whose attempts to resolve their problem peaceably were being ignored, so who therefore had decided to fight in order to defend themselves. As someone recruiting an army, I chose the fighters.

Before he vanished, Grumpy said someone was working on a Skip Deep Roads mod.  But that would only take care of half the problem.  When I'm feeling my worst Orzammar hatred, I even sometimes choose not to side with Bhelen, not for any rp reasons, but because he makes me go into the Deep Roads an extra time.  And I WISH I could use metagaming to dig my way into Jarvia's headquarters from that shop, so I could avoid the rest of that long quest.

Actually, I wish this could be a mod!  I know it would be using metagame knowledge, since you don't find out about the tunnel up to that shop until after you finish killing Jarvia, but I sure wish there was some way to open up that entrance so we could simply go down there and kill her.  I figure the rest of her men would wander off if she wasn't there to lead them.

At this point I just wish the game would play itself, only bothering me when it comes time to make a choice xD

I'm beginning to feel more and more like this too after all the playthroughs I've done.  Actually, with Advanced Tactics and the Catonas cheat set, it almost does play itself.  I promised myself I would play this current character straight through, fighting all the battles without boosting my stats ridiculously and listening to every piece of dialog.   And I have ... mostly.  But with some of the bigger battles, I'm getting bored, and last night I equipped Catonas again.  I can sit back, and let the game play itself until the combat is quickly over.  I'm a cheater.  I admit it.  But it's better than losing interest in the game.

Perverseness seems to be a KoP character trait, so I'm not surprised, either.

If the Carta quest was deleted, Orzammar wouldn't really be that bad. It's that bloody Carta quest that makes the whole place dead boring, the other stuff can be dealt with fairly quickly.

But that final battle is one of the best in the game!

The one with Jarvia? I agree. On my first run that battle gave some serious trouble.

It might be interesting for me on my Brosca, but on my others Jarvia was just another enemy to be killed.

I have never played it with a Brosca (I've never played a Dwarf for that matter), but I still find that battle highly enjoyable. And whether you have a history with Jarvia or not, shutting her up is always a pleasure!

But they aren't BLINDLY prejuduced. It's very much deserved after what humans have always put Dalish through. The only time they tick me off was when Sarel jumped down my Dalish rogue's throat. THEN I wanted to kill him.

I enjoyed the Deep Roads, I didn't care for the Orzammar garbage. Yet it's been more fun to write up vice versa. But as a previous poster said, you can tell everyone to go stuff themselves.

What I found interesting is that Alistair didn't comment about making Bhelen king, yet he approved of Harrowmont being crowned, which I thought was interesting. Of course Harrowmont reminded me of Eamon, so that might be while Alistair approved.

I can understand their reactions to humans. And while I found their attitudes to my HNF annoying, they really ticked me off with the first CE I tried playing. It felt like they looked down on her even more than my human.

I've never taken Alistair to Orzammar (so I don't know anything about his reactions there), but it would make sense for him to approve of Harrowmont as King. Harrowmont and Eamon do share some traits... which actually makes them even less endearing to me!

On Nightmare with the Dragon Age mod, it still gives me fits if I don't cheat and grab lots of potent health pots from the AIS vendor.  That fight is just seriously tough, but fun, imho.

Probably why I didn't keep the save where I did make Harrowmont king. Couldn't stand the thought of two Eamons running around. :bandit:

Since you like the Jarvia battle, you should play at least one DC origin.  It will... enlighten you to one of the NPC's you meet on your trip through her hideout.

Actually the blindness I mentioned was in reference to the werewolves. They refuse to entertain the possibility that they may have evolved into anything more than mindless beasts or monsters.

I think that prejudice came from Zathrian who took the phrase "Revenge is a dish best served cold" a little too far.

As seeing it through my character's eyes, there is a reason for it. They are kin, perhaps, yes but they are elves who have submitted to the humans, adapted their religion and have forgotten about what it means to be elven. City elves are willingly at the mercy of men in their cities and this is something a Dalish elf (also my character) can't grasp and understand. Or how Morrigan once said. "Better hardship and danger than slavery."

LOL!  Yeah, I agree!  I'm terrible... I can't keep from metagaming that encounter, despite the character I'm running atm and I always leave Leske in the cell to rot.  Same with Vaughn.

And, it's why, even though I'm not overly fond of Harrowmont, I can't put Bhelen on the throne knowing that he framed his sibling for murder.

I really want to try a game where I can set all of that aside and stick strictly to what my character knows... but I haven't been able to let myself do that, yet.  Maybe once over the next five months, I'll succeed, but I'm not holding my breath.
