See, the thought of being something someone needs to LIVE and if they don't have you they'll DIE strikes me as creepy.

Depends on how "Live" is defined. As in literal breath to breath living, then yes, creepy. But I never look at it that way when I say I couldn't live without my own guy. I SURVIVE a months and at times a year at a time without him, but I wouldn't exactly call it living. I breathe, I function, I get done what needs done, I keep insanely busy but It's not LIVING.

If anything, that is a little more creepy to me. It reminds me of Bella going all zombie when Edward left her in Twilight. It implies, to me, an unhealthy relationship.

Note, I know that isn't what you are talking about but I'm saying that if someone were to say that to me, I would be freaked out with either definition.

I could never go Zombie...then again, spending hours playing a video game could be considered such. But screw Bella and Edward, they can talk to me about seperation when they've been together almost 19 years and YAY YOU POSTED!!!!

HI!!!<3

Yeah, I know that isn't something you'd do, but that's how I view the sentence. I know what you mean, but someone saying that to me would make me feel very weird.

Sigh, why are people so literal minded? What happened to poetic metaphors? :P

Poetic metaphor leads to people thinking Romeo and Juliet is romantic. Though, I think it is more of a personal preference. I don't really like romantic stuff like that, it makes me uncomfortable.

So....personal preference.^_^

I feel very meeh about Romeo and Juliette tbh. So that's not what I personally am talking about.

I like it when it's subtle and rare. Obviously too much kills it and makes it absurd and ridiculous.

Like I said, Morrigan admitting that love is a weakness is to date, the most romantic thing I've ever heard.

Indeed. Might be a cultural thing I guess.

Well yes, in my culture so long as it's not done in public :D

But then imagine the guilt of having left her dying husband to the fate of Howe. I don't understand it either, but I would not like to have Eleanor Cousland's thoughts if she had fled.

But imagine how guilty Bryce must have felt pretty much causing the death of his beloved wife? At least Eleanor could have had a chance to be with her children.

Well, Bryce doesn't seem to make much of an effort to make her go. He does encourage his daughter/son to leave.

You know, sometimes I really do wonder what my life would've been like if my father had decided to stay in Jordan and not move to Sweden.

I agree. I do miss the old days when suitors proved themselves by presenting me with piles of skulls.

Men don't make such gestures anymore. Sigh.

Now that was funny!  Bringing the thread back on topic... I can see our lovely Alistair doing just that.

"Close your eyes," Alistair says, covering your eyes with his hands.  "Don't peek!"
He guides you behind your tent.
"Surprise!" he says, pulling his eyes away.
At your feet lie 100 darkspawn skulls in the shape of a heart.

And he should have!
For all he knows, Howe's men could subjugate her to the most horrific acts imaginable.

I think he should have insisted that Eleanor go as well. I think she should have went for the sake of her children and he should have tried to make her go for the sake of their children. Though I didn't put much thought to it at the time (what with reaching for the tissues and all :crying:) later on I realized that they just orphaned their children.

Maybe he knew that whatever he would say wouldn't help. Then again, he could've just ordered Duncan to drag her away

They were protecting their child, I would have done the same in those circumstances...they gave Duncan and their child additional time to get away.

I agree, he didn't know what the guards might have done to her. Heck, do we know what they did, besides making her kiss Howe's shoes? I really would rather not think on it too much

Well I don't want to make it sound like our culture is the most romantic in the world, it isn't. Far from that. Excessive public show of affection is frowned upon.

It depends on the upbringing and your family specifically, it's very diverse in the Levant. I know lots of Jordanians and I don't think we are dissimilar in this. Some other people might have very different views (arranged marriages and such).

If I had the choice, I would have knocked her unconscious and dragged her away.

I think that even if it hadn't made a difference that he should have at least tried his hardest to get her to leave. I mean, he was mortally wounded so their wasn't much he could do so if she decided to stay and Duncan wouldn't drag her out then it wasn't really his fault. But his disagreement was pretty much; "Eleanor!" "STFU Bryce" "...okay."

That's another thing, why couldn't we convince her to come with us? I usually take that dialogue option to say that I love them (makes the scene sadder, I think) but I would have liked the option to drag her away. Or at least try to guilt trip her lol

Even hotter if he ripped off his armor and wanted you to take him on said skull pile.:wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub:

Yea, not as bad as that. Though I don't really know the legal implciations, if there are any.
People just don't do that and that's that.

It's something I agree with, I think excessive PDA is inappropriate (not the punishment, just that it's inappropriate). The distinction between public and private is a good thing imo.

I know! I recently wrote a one-shot about Bryce during the attack when Duncan wasn't there and it just about killed me. Image IPB

His wife AND daughter wanted to stay and die with him but he at least managed to get the HN to flee but Eleanor wouldn't hear of it. It was awful because he wanted them both to live so badly but he was too injured to go with them and it's not like he could force them to leave him. Image IPBImage IPB

You really crack me up sometimes Skadi.
Would've loved for a quick scene after a battle for Alistair to go "You. Me. Behind the bush. Now"
