Soldiers aren't allowed to ...caboodle...if they're in the same chain of command. Thank the Maker the Wardens have no such rule!

Haha, I think Leliana does object on similar grounds if you are romancing Morrigan :D

Thats one thing nice about living on an army post. No PDA in uniform, so you don't see alot past hand holding. And when we have a formal even like a ball, noone is sucking each others faces off on the dance floor, because...guys are in uniform. Handholding and hugging, and a chaste kiss is the limit. It's a nice atmosphere.

It sure is.
Too bad we can't run the world like the military huh.

I'd be happy with the manners being mandatory. When he came home from basic doors were opened for me, (still are). He actually got frustrated when I kept getting to the doors first and MOVED my butt out of the way to open it for me...lol

But the "Yes ma'am" response when you're spoken to, doors being opened, sigh...it's nice. Right until we drive out of the gates.

Other odd rules: No talking on your cell phone while walking in uniform. Same applies to smoking.

I like this rule. Of course, I understand that (though I don't really get the cellphone thing).

I don't either ...lol But there are so many. Like I am to walk on his LEFT so his right arm is free to salute, if it's raining, I can offer an umbrella but it must be black. Sometimes it's just a royal pain in the arse! Though I can't imagine it's any better being Alistair's queen. And, Also? Soldiers aren't allowed to ...caboodle...if they're in the same chain of command. Thank the Maker the Wardens have no such rule!

What if two soldiers get married and they are at the same level as each other? Are they not allowed to consumate their marriage?

And damn straight about the Wardens not having the same rules. Alistair and the Warden would be mightily screwed lol

Edit: There are far more things that make me GLAD to leave the gates however...tis a double edged sword:P

There were similarities when I was in. Absolutely no PDAs in uniform. Smoking was frowned upon, but the rule was seldom enforced. Cellphones were still a novelty or the yuppies, so that wasn't a problem. Though now I would agree on the Cellphone thing, I'd even ban them from Batallion and other work areas during duty hours.

Being required to use good manners for the first time in my life was a bigger challenge for me than firing 50 caliber weapons, or having to do 48 hour work shifts.

Soldiers get counciled now if they don't HAVE a cellphone as anything from team leader up. That's the only reason we have them now at all. Though at this point I couldn't live without mine...lol He was also counciled about 6 years ago because I didn't have my drivers license yet. :pinched:

Yeah if a guy woo's me I would be a happy camper !! I am very romantic at heart so I get what your saying KoP.
In a relationship and the person your with is someone you truly want to be with . They are someone your attached to . yes you can live without them but living with them makes your soul soar .It's like finding something you've been missing.

But then I listen to music that has Lyrics like "When two become one" and "When you really love a woman,You tell her that she's the one":wub:

Yea, I agree. Exactly.

For me, being in love is feeling that you're special to someone who is special to you.
And you might not die when you lose something special. But your life wouldn't be the same without it.
That's how I see it at least.

agreed! I think when you have someone and you share a bond with them it makes life a little better :)

You can. You can pretty much marry anyone you like. It's just a really bad idea. Like a really bad idea. For everyone. You, her, your respective chain of command and your families.

It happened enough when I was in, and the solution was to move one of the spouses to another unit outside of their chain of command. Problem solved.

Ok, say Sgt Alistair is in Squad A Company C and likes Private Leliana in squad b Company C. It's frowned upon due to Sgt outranking private, but since they're in different squads, it's doable. However, if Sgt Alistair loves Captain Cousland, he's crap out of luck til one of them is out of the military. Officer+ Enlisted = NO. Enlisted+Enlisted= ok if they aren't in direct command of each other.

Displays of love or passion don't usually bother me at all.  Sometimes they'll make me smile if it looks like the couple is crazy in love ... as long as they've chosen a quiet corner and aren't right in someone's face.  I just don't like it if it's interfering with something I'm doing ... like eating dinner or watching a movie and they are right next to me.  I actually did have that happen to me in a movie theater once.  They were actually going at it in the seat next to me.  Now that bothered me because I missed a portion of the movie before the manager came and made them leave.  And I dislike it when people carry on embarrassingly private cellphone conversations right next to you.

But general PDA's ... I can remember what it was like to not have anyplace private to go.  As long as they make an attempt to move themselves away from people, I don't mind.

Alistair doesn't mind either.

@LadyJess, that makes sense, thanks. I'm kind of glad they have that rule, I can't imagine what would happen if someone with command over someone else they were in the middle of divorcing.

-shrug- Makes sense. If Alistair wasn't romancable, I probably would have shipped him with Leliana because that would be adorable lol.

I wonder what will happen with Commander Warden and regular, non King Alistair?

Yeah if your both in the military now and the same rank you have to do marriage counciling. Alot of military marriages don't work out (notice I said alot not all) and when they divorce it's REALLY frowned upon.

My best friends are still married, back then they were both Captains (Marines), she was breasfeeding their first, trying 40 cases a month and going to Georgetown for her Masters in Law, and he couldn't push a stroller....yeesh.

I've seen it, but it's very, very rare. From that aspect, yeah, bad idea. But from the military legal/displinary angle, it's completely kosher.
