Alistair is not only betrayed by the person he loves/cares for (in many playthroughs) , but by the only surviving warden, who was also at Ostagar, the one person in the world whom he thinks can understand completely. None of the companions back him up, Eamon and Teagan don't. Not a single noble does. As far as he's concerned, the whole lot have spat on the memory of Duncan and the wardens, care nothing for justice, and have no loyalty, not to him, not to the wardens, and not to Cailan.

He simply can't stay and watch as Loghain is elevated in spite of everything. He can't fight alongside him and call him brother, he can't stand the sight of anyone who was part of this, and if he stays, he'd end up fighting with someone who was. He wants no part of it or any of them.

They've negated everything he's done, and everything he cares about, and to him none of them think he matters at all so...have at it, a-holes. He'd end up regreting not fighting the blight, but not his contempt for the whole lot, and he wouldn't regret it for some time. They still have the same number of wardens as they had before, so it's not like he was leaving them defenseless. Things were exactly the same as they were before the Landsmeet, except everyong he knew had chosen Loghain over him and everything he believes to be true. If he'd been the only warden, I suspect things might have been different, although I have no idea how he would have brought himself to stomach it.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Nah.  I can barely keep track of what's happening in this thread and the couple testing groups I'm active in.  I can't handle another thread.  

And as far as KoP being welcome here.  I know that I (along with a number of other Alistairians) would miss him if he left.

Well it's a good thing we are...more so to be exact.  And besides, it's good to have an opposing view than none at all.

Btw, someone needs to put up a ToP pic before Tigress puts one up that'll have us scurrying off to a corner.

Read back in this thread.  He is respectful of our opinions.  He listens.  And he also does not hate Alistair.

KoP is here because we want him here. He might not share our gush over Alistair, but he respects our opinions, just as we should respect his. This is a forum where we discuss. And he has a discussion, just because his opinions is not what you feel there should be no reason to question why he is here should there?

If he really wants to apologise he should post an Ali picture and not a derp... I like Alistair and I would like to be able to come to this thread without finding people trashing him, like they do everywhere else...

Ugh, I'm editing this. I believe you do owe an apology, Maria.  The treatment  that you served up to him is not acceptable in any circumstance I can think of......unless it's some unknown troll coming to curse us out or something.

Oh, are we back to fighting again? I always thought welcoming people who have a different opinion adds some spice to the thread. It can be infuriating sometimes but I never thought anyone is doing it on purpose, so I don't see any harm done. It's someone on the internet who happens to have a different opinion.

I still don't like Loghain. He's still an arrogant bastard who is responsible for almost destroying his country and probably suffers from delusions of grandeur. I still think he's a badly written character.
But since I was convinced that Ostagar is not the betrayal it seemed at first (even if it was clearly originally intended by the writers), I can see how Loghain might be redeemable. I would have never changed my mind if it wasn't for the the many discussions. So far none of my Wardens would try to be his friend and certainly he can spare them his blabla about what a worthy enemy they are after trying to kill them once again.

However, I took this into consideration for one of my HNF endings. She killed Loghain and to appease his supporters she convinced Alistair and Anora to marry. She stayed as the chancellor, mainly to see if Alistair can hold his own against Anora, and  then went on to be Warden Commander. She also remained his mistress, even if it's a hard life for both of them.

Um, I just want to add that this goes both ways. To tell someone that she's a lesser person (or how should I read read this) because she got a little upset is certainly not helping. We're only human after all.
