Did Ceorlic just call a dwarf....clown? He says no such thing to a human or elf, but he has the balls to call a dwarf clown?!

Seriously, sinced when do elves get more respect than dwarves?

Besides, Howe's the only clown I know of around.

I dunno if his hide would hold up to the treatment needed to make decent parchment. ;)

See, now why couldn't he have looked more like Pennywise instead of the mole-creature they made him? Tim Curry's voice needs to come out of something more impressive than Rendon "Potato Head" Howe.

That definitely would have made the HN origin more interesting.

HN: You sure you don't see these balloons?
Bryce: Nope, not at all.
Howe: They all float!
Bryce: Of course they do...

Heh - I saved my Noble game just before meeting Howe in the dungeon. I reload it at least once a day and bump him off in all sorts of gruesome ways just to remind him that this "Pup" still has plenty of bite.   *snarl*

Hmmm.... good point.

In that case, Lucrezia shall have his hide converted for use as toilet paper, his skull gilded for use as the royal chamber pot.

Ceorlic should have re-thought calling his betters "clown".

Anyone dressed in the noble clothes should really take a good look at themselves before calling others clowns.

I haven't played the HN origin yet so I know I have yet to experience all there is to loathe of Howe. If you don't play a HN or a CE, though, his presence is pretty minimal. My CE tried to pick a fight with him in Arl Eamon's estate and we got into a little snarling match, but were soon called off. But he didn't say a word in the "Loghain, Howe and Cauthrien visit Arl Eamon before Landsmeet" scene with my Mage. Just stood behind Loghain's left shoulder looking like a rotten yam. Then the next time I saw him was in the dungeon area of his estate, where he had his one speech to taunt us into a fight and then his one speech while dying. Very anticlimactic. As you posted some time ago on this thread, I would have loved to come down to the dungeon and find him in full Frank N Furter regalia having some kind of bondage orgy with Desire Demons and oiled men in loincloths. "Quick, kill him before he zaps us with the Paralyz-o-matic and starts putting fishnets and heels on us!!" :o

Ah, if only after killing Howe there was a dialog option to give to the more 'moral' party members (Alistair, Leilana, Wynne) that said:

"Oh, don't be so upset. It was a mercy killing!" Image IPB

Oh, my HNF had a nice spat with Howe, Loghain and Cauthrien at Eamon's estate. And Howe is positively venomous in the final showdown with her. I really enjoyed curbstomping him.

Actually, I think Alistair fully approves slaughtering Howe.

Oh, my yes. The first time I verbally sparred with Howe in the dungeon my jaw dropped open at just how evil he was. Howe telling my Cousland how he made my mother kiss his feet before killing her made my blood pressure jump by at least 20 points. <_<

But if your persuade skill is high enough definitely take the "Intimidate" dialog options. Just knowing that you got to him made his demise that much more sweeter.

That whole line about parents, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew got me seeing red. Almost literally. And I got my Menacing achievement by intimidating Howe.

Or when you open the door to that room in the dungeon:

Howe: "Warden!"

Alistair: "Arl Howe!"

Wynne: "Alistair!"

Erlina: "Warden!"

Howe: "Erlina!"

Warden: [looks mutely at Howe]

I always played it that I basically lie to Anora and make Hardened Alistair King instead. This time I did not hardened him, I am playing a HNF. I wanted to try making him king even though he is not hardened.

You don't have to harden him to make him king. Hardening him just makes certain things work out differently, such as letting the non-HNF (or a dumped HNF) LI become mistress. In the epilogue he learns to govern if hardened, spends a lot of time ruling with a "common touch" unhardened.

Or rather, not really ruling but letting his chancellor deal with it and focuses on building up a cult of personality among the people.

I hardly think him not bothering to rule and hanging out where he feels comfortable constitutes as creating a cult of personality...

Not consciously no. I don't think he is doing that for this reason. But it might be a side effect.

And I never cared much for ToPs, but it's weird and uncomfortable to have this ugly clown as ToP here :P

It *might* but he's not really actively doing anything to establish himself in that way. And considering Alistair I don't think it would happen anyway >.>

Because the idea of Alistair having a ton of fans without really attempting to is completely ridiculous. Image IPB

I think that constitutes more as celebrity than anything, then, IMO.
