Actually Marlana never threatened his family, it was clear they didn't have anything to do with Howe's actions. Not to mention it seemed to be lowering herself to his level.
Agreed. But I when I roleplayed this with Arturo, I made his quest for revenge a running motif for his playthough. It was an interesting dynamic between Arturo, who lost a father (and mother) and Alistair, who lost a father-figure.
The thing is that Arturo's thirst for revenge didn't abate after killing Howe. For his boon at game's end rather than choosing to honor the Grey Wardens he chose to make the Howes pay for what they did to his family. I found it notable that in the end both Alistair and Arturo settled their scores. The difference is that I get the impression that Alistair moved on. Arturo? I'm guessing not so much. He still carries a lot of bitterness. And like the Lady of the Forest can give Swiftrunner peace, I see Alistair being Arturo's calming factor.
A final thought - I've yet to fully delve into Awakening with Arturo but it will be interesting to see how he interacts with Nathaniel Howe!
