Wait ... you can kill the Halla?  :(

Yea, and you get a reward for it.

BTW, I really found it pathetic that a dwarf, human or city elf can understand more about halla than a dalish who dedicated her life to understanding them and communicating with them.
I would say how incompetent the Dalish are, but that's a trend popular with mostly everyone in Thedas, or Ferelden at least.

I am *pretty* sure that was a gameplay thing. Especially since the Dalish PC can figure out what's wrong too >.>

Does the rest of the herd die since she's not the infected one?  I've never had the heart to do it... so many parts of this game I've missed because I just can't bring myself to take certain options.

I just recently killed Whitherfang for the first time.  That was a seriously tough fight!  Not sure if it was just because I hadn't done it a million times before and so didn't know the right strategy or what, but I swore I'd never do that again just because it was so hard!

Huh.

What I find strange is that you get no chance either to kill or to try to heal the Halla after the Werewolves have overrun the camp. It's still there and still looking distressed, but my Mage couldn't do anything about it. What, just because I had to kill the Dalish, that means I automatically stopped caring about the Halla? <_<

Well you probably condemned them to be eaten by werewolves anyways, so why bother? :D

@ Tigress.
They never show us the herd dying. But they should in theory. Unless the cure is broken I guess.

Well yeah, except they never do eat them. . .Speaking of which, have you ever fed a Nug to your Werewolf emissary in camp? It's amusing, I recommend it.

Feed a nug to a werewolf in camp?  You mean Schmooples, or whatever that noisy thing is named?  *perks up*

No, a different nug.

Despite schmooples annoying noise making, I love Leliana too much to feed him to the werewolf emissary (who is totally awesome btw).

Uh, I've never named the Nugs, usually I just wrangle them for the Nug Wrangler in Orzammar. But yes, they are noisy. I guess I must have had one or two in my possession that I had forgotten to turn in when I talked to the Werewolf Emissary in camp, because suddenly besides my usual "Do you need anything?/I should go." dialogue options, I saw "Care for a nug?" :o I had to select it. The Werewolf tries to be all genteel about accepting it, like he's about to ask you if you have any Grey Poupon, but then finally is like "Um. . .you should probably look away now."

Hah, awesome. Too bad that I'm too much a Dalish girl to ever see it in game.

And yes, Leliana never ever got to get this screechy, noisy thing again after the first time. I like to have my rare time of sleep, and darkspawn dreams are already disturbing it enough. So no need for a noisy nug on top of that, thank you very much.

I like Leliana.  And it was fun giving her the nug and Schmooples is a pretty funny name.  But that think makes so much noise!  Is there a Shut Schmooples Up mod?

It's a Survival check.  The only one in the game, I think.  I always get that quest because of Alistair in the party.  :wizard:  (I play rogues and mages and they have better things to put points in than Survival.)

On a sidenote, who genuinely sides with the merchant? *raises hand*

Depends on the character I'm playing.  Some do, some don't.  I think more of them side with him, partially because I have more characters who have problems with the chantry.

No way.  I hate price gougers too much IRL to do that even in a game.  That's not capitalism, it's usury.

You mean that another companion can solve the quest for you if they have enough points in Survival? I don't think that has ever worked for me.

Well Adam Smith's Invisible hand theory dictates that low supply and high demand means an increase in prices.
The merchant was doing just that and was well within the boundaries of classical capitalism.

OMG, thank you, Storm!  Maybe Leliana will get Schmooples after all, in my current playthrough.

You know, you should have a "What's new and interesting at Nexus" column!

No, price gouging is an inhuman thing to do.  It has nothing to do with supply and demand and everything to do with greed.

We really do not want to have this discussion.

Yep, you only have to have someone in your party with at least 2 ranks of Survival.

I was just saying, it IS capitalism in its classical understanding.
