Because we want Eamon (not the village). Because he is supposedely that important. Of course all this sounds meeh to me, hence why I find the whole quest annoying. I would have simply made Teagan the Arl of Redcliff and be done with it. But no, I have to chase myths that even Templars see as ridiculous, just for the sake of Eamon.

And he does tell you about it afterward because its obvious that PC will be dealing with the problem because they need Eamon.
Yes I know, hence why I find the quest meeeh. There should have been an option that didn't force us to act like idiotic a-holes, and didn't force us to fight a battle that really isn't ours to fight.
Not saying that would have been my canon choice, I don't know. But I would have definaterly considered it. The other option, I didn't, because it made no sense in the context.
