I'm stupidly excited about hitting the reset button in DA2. New character (ooh, new hairstyles, maybe?), new romances, new drama! Since DG said that each romance (except for Morrigan until the DLC) all have their own closure, it feels like the book is closed on DAO and we're moving forward to a new book. You know, like those romance books where one is about two specific people, but the next book is about someone that knows those two specific people and the romance is now about her and someone else instead or the romance is about the child of the original couple who is now finding love with someone else. You know the kind of books I'm talking about? You only see the original couple mentioned if they showed up for dinner or a ball in the background. =pyukidama wrote...

Heh, I'm ready for new romances in DA2. I'd have totally dumped both Alistair and Zevran for Nathaniel.
Lol, this is why I like playing new characters when there are new romances. There's inevitably gonna be an awesome character I'm gonna want to throw my PC at, but I'll have already romanced someone in the previous game. Then I feel bad about making my toon a player ._. I imagine it makes for tasty drama later but I feel like a total jerkass.
Yeah, I'm perfectly fine with moving on. As far as the romances went, I wasn't really left wanting to play those aspects more after the game. I like the build-up and conflict more than playing the couple, so my character would end up with someone new merely for my gameplay enjoyment and then I feel like an ass for making my PC cheat on her pixel boyfriend. Happened to me in ME, where I was like "Whatever, I'll romance this dude and then eump him because I don't care lololol." Then I felt like an ass about it and was like, well, crap. Now I feel the need to replay and not romance anyone in the first game AND make another that will stay faithful and gah now I have 374662892 runs planned while the BioWare devs are sitting somewhere going "just as planned!"
So yeah, kinda glad for the new character and story xD Makes me feel less guilty ._.

From what I know about the Zevran romance, this ending doesn't fit the plot at all, though.

Edit; Very similar to his US slide -- where he goes back and takes over the crows. I'm not crazy about it, but no one asked me. I would have liked the Crow ending to remain the tragic ending for him, not the standard one.

Actually it's..
"some claim that he/she went to Antiva
chasing him. One rumor suggested the pair engaged in a terrible
showdown in the Antivan capital, and others say that they took over the
Crows. Perhaps they adventure together still."

yeah, stupid friggin OOC slides. Zevran wouldn't go back, and he certainly wouldn't bother with the crows after escaping them for pete's sake. Might as well say Alistair willingly went back to the friggin CHANTRY to fulfill his dream of being a templar.

It doesn't say it's against each other. The wording is very ambiguous.
Edit: But it does kind of suck.

That's how I read it yep. I dread even taking my wardens to awakening after seeing that the first time I played it at release. I don't have a SINGLE warden that would want ANYTHING to do with the effing CROWS, especially after Awakening. I could see if it was because they came after the Warden and Zev went to retaliate. But that's not even HINTED at.

That's the only reason I can see him going back. To protect the warden. And he would.

Oh he definitely would. So I don't know why they couldn't have hinted at that. As it stands that's the only way I can stand doing awakening. Telling myself that he heard about them coming for me at the keep, and was going to make sure it didn't happen again. But the taking over part, no way.

Aaaaand ...
Like I said, this guy is a sadist, lol.DG: If we see that people are excited, and they are doing interesting things with the character, I think that's inspirational. That's us looking at it going "huh, wow, people reacted really well to, say, Alistair. They really loved certain aspects of him." And you can see, as well, the parts they didn't love. But that is also useful, for us as creators to see maybe what angers them. I'm sure that they would be interested to know that what angers them or disappoints them or makes them upset isn't necessarily a deterrence to us as creators. Not because we want to make them upset--well actually, you know what? Let me take that back. We do want to make them upset. Emotional engagement is what we're looking at here. That's what we're looking for. If we wrote something, and we meant for it to cause anguish, and they respond to that and say "ah, I hated that plot, it caused me so much anguish", well, I'd say that's a win for us because the worst thing that could be, from our perspective, the worst reaction we could get from a fan is that they don't mention it at all. We get blah-blasé "yeah, that plot, it was okay I guess." We don't want that. I'd rather them be angry about it. Yes, you don't want their entire reaction to be "oh, I felt like I was stabbed in the gut," as vaguely pleasing as that would be to me as a creator. I'm not sure that's the entire reaction I'm going for.
VW: Well I guess it symbolizes the fact that it's not that the story was executed incorrectly; in fact it could have been executed correctly because you wanted to elicit that response.
DG: Right, yeah, you just want to hit a number of notes, right? We want to go for lows as well as highs, but you don't want to forget that you need them both.
It would actually be interesting to have a thread covering all the ways there can be a "gotcha!" in the DA2 romances. Just so we're prepared for the inevitable. =p

One big gotcha that stands out in my mind is the QueenCousland awakening slide, where she vanishes alone. I hate to say it but I think that's a big evil laugh I hear in the distance.
Also, it kind of makes me think, if I was a conspiracy type, which I might be. Then at the gates, with zev and the "I...I know that" added to his awakening slide....I might be hearing that same evil laughter.
