I have to say that my character would have romanced Varel in a heartbeat. What a sexy silver fox!

When my I play through Awakenings...I roleplay it that Varel never dies...He's just seriously injured.

yeah, stupid friggin OOC slides. Zevran wouldn't go back, and he certainly wouldn't bother with the crows after escaping them for pete's sake. Might as well say Alistair willingly went back to the friggin CHANTRY to fulfill his dream of being a templar.

All the Awakening slides are messed up.  My Surana was chancellor with King Alistair, and her slide said that she and Alistair "may have been seen in the palace in Denerim."

Soooo...  someone may or may not be running the country, but no one knows apparently.  LOL  And then they both absconded for parts unknown.

I still suspect we'll find out in DA2. Since it goes as far as 10 years post blight. It both excites and scares me at the same time. *hears evil laughter in the distance that sounds suspicially like David Gaider*

That article Gilsa posted yesterday had some interesting points. Like we'll find out more about Maric and Fiona...and something that led me to think we haven't seen the last of our wardens just yet. (I forget what it was maybe Gilsa will post that link again)

You know, we blame a lot on Gaider, but he says the female writers were egging him on with the Alistair breakup and Sheryl Chee commented on laughing evilly about some wrenching aspect of the end game. They all sit around and throw darts at our souls. Image IPB

Gaider did say, during PAX I believe, that we would find out what happened to Maric and Fiona. *excited* *scared*

Hmmmm, it's an interesting thought, that the happily-ever-after WAS deliberately taken from Zevran because of all the fangirl squee. i just figured it was B team writing, or someone who had no clue about the Zevran romance and saw him as the evil assassin.

As far as the mistress slide, you have to wonder how important Ferelden is in the grand scheme. I mean, rumors about Zevran and the warden being leader of the Crows... You'd think that would be something that would be actually known as well. That's practically king of Antiva.

When asked Gaider did not rule the possibility of seeing our Wardens in Dragon Age 3.  I have a feeling we will see them again.

I think I am the only person who does not want to see the Warden again. References to their existence, yes, but if I never play as thm again I'll be fine and in fact prefer it.

Not the only one by far. I want to. I don't mind DA2 not having them if that's what it takes. But I'd like some true finality not "rumor has it" and "some say" and "tale far from over" for them. Then I'll be quite happy to not see them again. Right now, not seeing them in the future is like Cataclysm coming out in December and Blizzard saying "only new toons from here...sorry!"

If they don't want to bring the Warden back, that's fine. As long as the story has a definite closure.
Why strongly hint at a continuation in the Awakening epilogue?
Why allow the Warden to follow Morrigan through the mirror, if they are not planning on expanding the subplot (it is far more likely that they did this to make us happy for the moment)? Do they really expect us to believe that the Warden who followed Morrigan became so unimportant that he doesn't need to show up when Morrigan makes a re-appearance as was hinted?

I really suspect that the writers don't know where they are heading, and are leaving openings for possible further use. That's fine, as long as it's subtle. Because the Awakening epilogue and the ending of WH are not so subtle and essentially almost promise a continuation.

One big gotcha that stands out in my mind is the QueenCousland awakening slide, where she vanishes alone. I hate to say it but I think that's a big evil laugh I hear in the distance.

I've never finished Awakening with a Queen Cousland before. Does she really disappear without Alistair? As if it weren't irritating enough that our LIs aren't in Awakening at all. Image IPB

And here I am always complaining about Maric's leaving in The Calling, yet PC King/Queens pretty much do the same thing, heh.

Yeah, it works better if I ignore Awakening. Even then if theit fate is alluded to indirectly, I'd prefer it to playing the Warden again. I don't know. I liked my characters but I am perfectly fine retiring them permanently.

I dont want to see any of my wardens again really.

The new face models, and likelihood of a VO would ruin my time.

New hero's are fine, and if I get a hint or a line referencing what they were up to I would be happy. Unless its Gaidered.

I agree. I'm looking forward to playing a female Hawke but if we get to see our Wardens again in a future game I would not have problems with that.:)

I am totally in favor of new heroes and new stories for sure. Just as long as they don't pretend that the Warden disappeared into oblivion.

I might be biased, but I do think that a Warden who followed Morrigan through the mirror should in theory have more importance, as Morrigan is apparently integral to the "change" and Flemeth overarching plots. I don't see how they can reasonably justify his disappearance or unimportance.

Move the plot of DA3 to over 30 years from the end of origins.
Boom, one calling and end to the warden.

I REALLY dont want to see the warden as a PC again.

Equally true for the female warden and Alistair if they did the DR really. Especially Warden/KING Alistair.

So they can do like Awakening then. NEW warden OR import warden so YOU don't HAVE to see your warden again, and those of us that DO want to can play ours. It doesn't HAVE to be kill them in the calling. It doesn't HAVE to be one or the other. They have proven three times now (Awakening, Golems, and Witch Hunt) now it can indeed be both. Then  the "never want to see them again" and "do want to see them again" crowds are both happy.

Nope, you're not the only one. My warden's story ended perfectly in Origins and I don't want them to screw it over. It's the reason why I don't play Awakening with my character from Origins. I always create an Orlesian for it.

I do understand why those who romanced Morrigan (especially those who went into the mirror world), would want to see the warden again.

But that's annoying. What was the point of following Morrigan then?
If they are going to make it completely inconsequential, then choice matters not. Of course that is the weakness of games with a lot of choices. But if they are not prepared to make them relevent (especially choices that are important like the DR and following Morrigan), then I would rather not have that many choices to begin with.
I was perfectly wiling and happy to have a bittersweet ending where my Warden lives in Ferelden and never sees Morrigan again. They didn't have to give me a choice that they probably are going to make completely irrelevent.

I would argue that the Warden who follows Morrigan through the mirror, romanced her, lives with her and the OGB, to be more connected to the general plot than the others. At least that's how it should be.

But what of her first and only friend...whom she calls her SISTER. I love her too!! And no option to go through the mirror:(

I don't think the story should be abandoned, but even playing another, new Warden would not be something I'd like. I don't especially like the Wardens as an organization, so being continuously associated with them is something that would make me lose a lot of interest in the franchise. So unless it's an Origins xpac the Wardens can **** off for all I care.
