I didn't get a talk from Duncan when I tried stealing from him.  But someone else apparently complained about Min running around Ostagar stealing from everyone, so she got the big lecture about that.  I loved it!  And why doesn't Daveth have anything to steal?  I thought he'd be doing some pickpocketing there too.  Alistair got irritated with her.  It got bad enough that he'd say, "NO" whenever she'd approach him.

*edit - ack!  photobucket is down for maintenance.  Can someone else post a ToP pic for me?

Wait, Duncan pulls you aside for stealing in Ostagar?! That's awesome, I never realized that. Cous was obviously laying down on the job there. But, trauma and all that, she wasn't at the top of her game.

If you're caught stealing during the day (as in it says 'failed', and before you return from the wilds) the next time you see Duncan, he's defending you against accusations from one of the knights hanging around Ostagar. Talking to him after that starts it.

One of my favourite Duncan moments, really. Half telling you off, half encouraging you. So long as you don't get caught

Awww. Cute screens, Jess. Anders needs those tough dwarves to babysit him! Jaina is the one you wrote about last week, right? *sadface*

But, hurrah for dark-haired elves in Pious armor! You make me nostalgic for Esra. Someday, if I keep playing DA, I'm going to replay her game. I've been trying out the Divine spell mod with Wynne a little, and it would have been perfect for my little Andrastian.

Yeah that's the one:crying:

I'm on Chapter 2 at the moment. It's turning into something unexpected and really HARD to write.

I find I really can't stand her in robes. But I don't want to melee with her either. So she wears her pious armor (because believe it or not, little miss blood mage is very pious, even though she wants freedom from the chantry) and uses a staff.

Aieee, you just moved Duncan up the awesome meter a notch and I didn't even think that was possible.  Oh, and I agree he is so great in the DC origin story.  Really in both the dwarf origins.  One of the best parts about those already good origins.

Alistair won't mind sparing a post or two for the hotness of his mentor.

Esra really came into her own with the Grey Warden garments, though.  Such a great set for a battle mage.

I need some help figured this be the thread to find it in. Lat playthru which I intended on making my canon derailed because I ended up executing Alistair. What I want to know is, is it possible to be Anora's King-consort and still have Alistair serving as a Grey Warden? If so what do I have to do. I planned on doing this but when he cut Loghain's head off he was all like gimme the beyotches I am the king. So I reloaded and decided not to kill Loghain. Is it only possible to become king with Alistair dead/exiled?

Edited

Anora won't marry the man that kills her father. So if you have a save before you hardened Alistair, you'll have to go back to that and NOt harden him.

Yep, Alistair must be unhardened, then you still have the chance to choose. He'll be more than happy to dodge this bullet ;)

Alistair will still give up the throne hardened. He still does not want it. What I have done is have him duel Loghain and kill him. And when Eamon asks you to make your say, talk to Alistiar about giving up the throne, and he will. And when Anora says that Alistiar must give up claim to the throne, he gladly does. And, again, this is hardened Alistair.

But unless you are a FHN, dosn't he just take the throne after he does the duel?

Arranging for him to marry Anora (not that you have to actually go through with this) and if Alistair kills Loghain then she won't anyway) also makes him not take the throne when Eamon says so, even if hardened.

@rak, no. He does not want the throne. And even when you marry him to Anora still doesn't really want to doit , you have to twist his arm, so to speak. So to be king, you just ask Alistair to renounce any claim to the throne and he does "absolutely, wholeheartedly, I never wanted it"

Eh.. I think it is up for interpretation whether he does it gladly.  Depending on dialogue choices, he says "pick me, Anora is not an option" and so on.  But you can force matters and give Anora the throne.

I don't know if this helps a male PC who wants to marry Anora beforehand, though.  You have to set up a marriage with her before the LM and not sure if that forces the game to the "Warden chooses" scene, as it would for an HNF in love him or if you've set up an Alistair-Anora marriage, or not.  Someone with a toolset would have to check.

That still doesn't mean that he hasn't come around to the idea that it's his right, if hardened.  As I said up above, at some times he expresses very forcefully that he does want the throne.  For him it is a matter of wanting to see justice done and the Blight defeated more than personal ambition, but for instance in a WC ending he says "I didn't want to be king, but now I do" and in the after-chat talks about realizing he could do good etc.  It's an ambivalent picture if he's hardened.

It does still make the choice scene. That's also when you talk to both Alistair and Anora before making you announcement. You make the arrangment, and still make the announcement that Anora will be queen with you at her side. She will then want to address Alistair's claim made by Eamon which for her is where you pull out the boon she owes you, and she will ask Aistiar to rebounce his claims to the throne which he then does. Again this is having Alistair kill Loghain.
