Art is by the fabulous Aimo, of course. Wait no RDT, today? We have been slacking with our picture meme's lately, it seems.

Right, he does always renounce his claim if the Warden/ the Landsmeet decides against him. Unlike another candidate who shall not be named! What I was talking about is how he talks about the kingship in general or if you ask him who you should choose etc.RagingCyclone wrote...
It does still make the choice scene. That's also when you talk to both Alistair and Anora before making you announcement. You make the arrangment, and still make the announcement that Anora will be queen with you at her side. She will then want to address Alistair's claim made by Eamon which for her is where you pull out the boon she owes you, and she will ask Aistiar to rebounce his claims to the throne which he then does. Again this is having Alistair kill Loghain.

Maybe he's hoping Maric will have some advice on escaping from them.Addai67 wrote...

For my playthroughs he was still on the fence about it. Even after killing Loghain he was asking me what I thought, and still thought .......(I'll leave her name out) would be a good queen. So he does a lot of back and forth about the kingship. For the HNF I don't know how he acts at the end yet (working on that) but from the HNM side he is indecisive about the throne right up until the choice is made.

Yes, I had someone check that once because I was surprised he said "I didn't want to be king, I still don't" even when hardened, and it is a bug. He's only supposed to say that if unhardened.Sarah1281 wrote...
Isn't the Alistair dialogue bugged there? He gives an unhardened response on several points.

It could be. I don't know if cme addressed the male side of the dialogue with IRS-A or not. I'm just going by what I have done and seen when my nobles have gotten there.
Warden: I need to talk to Alistair first.
Hardened:
Alistair: I hope your route is clear, here.
Warden: What makes you a better choice than Anora?
Alistair: I can do this. I may not know politics the way she does, but I know what needs to be done. I can get our armies marching toward the Blight.
If betrayed: She's already betrayed us once. Who knows if she'd even truly help us now? She could have us banished as soon as you hand her the crown.
If not: She only cares about having power.
Warden: And you're willing to give up your freedom?
Alistair: If that's the price of ending the Blight... it's my duty as a Grey Warden.
Warden: What do you think I should do?
Alistair: Make me king. Anora isn't an option.
Warden: You seem so certain.
Alistair: Shouldn't I be? You're the one who convinced me to take a stand after meeting Goldanna. I can do this.
Warden: Should I choose Anora?
If lost Landsmeet w/out Anora: Hmm. On the one hand, she did almost have us killed. On the other hand... no, there is no other hand. Don't make her queen.
If not: She seems to want it, anyway, and I know I don't. So... yes? Maybe? I don't know.
Warden: Do you think you're ready to be king?
Alistair: As ready as anyone ever is, I suppose. Which is to say yes--I'm ready.
Unhardened:
Alistair: Strange, I feel like I'm back at the abbey, trying not to get chosen last for the sparring teams.
Warden: What makes you a better choice than Anora?
Alistair: This wasn't exactly my first choice when we got to Denerim, but... I know what we're up against. I know what's at stake.
If betrayed: And after what she's already done... do we really trust her to help us?
If not: Anora's got experience handling nobles and foreign dignitaries, but I do know a few things about fighting darkspawn.
Warden: And you're willing to give up your freedom?
Alistair: If that's the price of ending the Blight... it's my duty as a Grey Warden.
Warden: What do you think I should do?
Alistair: You're asking me?
If Anora Support: I guess you have to choose between Anora and me, right?
If not: Well, I guess your options are: give the crown to the woman who double-crossed us, or give the crown to me. Thrilling, I know.
Alistair: Frankly, I think you should give her the throne. I've never wanted it. But it's up to you.
Warden: You really think I should choose her?/Should I choose Anora?
If lost Landsmeet w/out Anora: Hmm. On the one hand, she did almost have us killed. On the other hand... no, there is no other hand. Don't make her queen.
If not: She seems to want it, anyway, and I know I don't. So... yes? Maybe? I don't know.
Warden: Do you think you're ready to be king?
Alistair: Are there people who are ready for that sort of thing? But I guess... if it comes down to it, I'll do my best. <desc>Groans</desc> I think my stomach just twisted up into a knot or something...
So basically the ‘should I choose Anora’ is the only part of the conversation where hardened Alistair doesn’t have any different lines but throughout all the rest of it, he’s positive that he wants to be queen. It IS really odd that he can tell you Anora isn’t an option and then, if you ask him that two seconds later, he’ll turn around and waffle.

He will thank you no matter what. If you ask if he's fine with not being king (paraphrased) then he'll respond with what you said based on whether he's hardened or not.pudi0072000 wrote...
After the landsmeet, if you talk to Alistair, having not made him King, doesn't he thank you for it? I know if he's unhardened, he will, and I think if he's hardened, he'll say it's better Anora than him, but he's only barely all right with it. Or am I dreaming that?
