Quick question for fellow Alistair fans: in Awakening, Leliana and Zevran will apparently write a letter to the PC if they were in a romance with them at the end of Origins. Does Alistair have a similar letter if he is not made king? If so, would anyone happen to have a rough idea of when this letter should be expected to show up?

So how would a guy react to this situation? I've discussed it with my hubby, but I wanted to get a well rounded opinion from other guys too, and based on Alistair's personality.
Would he blow up emotionally? Would he internalize it and and let it fester till he couldn't take it anymore? Would he actually talk to the PC about it?
Let me know if there is more I can add to make answering this question easier.

Well seeing how I have little in common with him, I don't think I can give you an adequate response based on what I would do.
However, I think Alistair would internalize it and possibly give up on it (like he does to other situations), until he could no longer bear it. I do not think he would blow up emotionally, not at first anyways.

This is what I was originally thinking too. Then my hubby said something along the lines of "guys don't think that way" and now I'm all like o---kay, now what?![]()

Eh, come to think of it, my reaction wouldn't be too dissimilar. Except it would have more anger in it (and no giving up).
Guys don't happen to think exactly alike.
Maybe hardened Alistair would have a more direct approach. But I personnally can't picture unhardened Alistair going to the PC and telling her everything just like that.

Also, you should keep in mind that he doesn't get jealous of the PC bangin' Zevran until Zev hits Adore. So why he might feel a little jealous, I don't see him getting angry or anything.
He's pretty up front with his feelings, though. I feel like, if anything, seeing Teagan kiss her would push him to approach her rather than making him back off.

I agree, he is actually pretty forward and jealousy is one of the things that gets him off his dime. Though I'd add that he has an alpha male jealousy dynamic going with Zevran from day one, if you look at the banters. He tries to deny jealousy if you ask him about it, but it's sooo obvious.SurelyForth wrote...

If Alistair is still in the friends-zone, though, he might feel like he can't really say anything as they're not together (feelings aside) and so she technically can kiss whoever she wants as much as he hates it. Although he might still say something about how 'unsuitable' the match is or how they don't have time for things like that and they're supposed to be dealing with a Blight.

That said, it's hard to say what an AU Alistair might do. Too many other factors come into play.

This is a lot closer to my own thoughts. He may feel jealousy toward the situation, but in the end, feels like it's none of his business. No matter what he feels. That and he's been brought up to basicly put his own desires aside, that they don't matter. So much so that it blinds him to the fact that he's got someone almost literally right under his nose that is willing to move the very earth for him. All he knows is rejection and pain, so when someone comes along, (a childhood friend) who starts showing him that 'he' matters and that someone actually cares what 'he' wants and needs, he clings to it for dear life.
...rambling again.. sorry.
Thank you to those who have put in their opinions though. It has helped quite a lot.

I agree. I think he would start with the stewing until something else causes him to confront the pc and this leaks in or he thinks thier relationship and her relationship with someone else (imagined or not) has advanced to the point where a choice needs to be made. This does happen in game with Zev (and Leliana), he tells the pc they need to choose, but only after things have reached a certain point with both.
I am intrigued... I want to read this.

Re: Khalara
AU stands for "Alternative universe".

If they haven't expressed any feelings towards each other yet, he probably doesn't do much. He would internalize it. But Alistair doesn't get possessive or confrontational about it unless he already knows the PC likes him. You can sleep with everyone else in camp, and unless you've told Alistair you like him, he accepts it. He might feel a little bad that he missed his chance, as it were, but I don't think he's going to get that upset. If the PC is his friend, he's probably happy that she's happy at least. He might, like Surely said, if he really likes her, confess his own feelings.
Also, yes, doesn't it suck that there's no letter from Alistair? Wouldn't it be nice if someone wrote a letter from him?

Oooh! Looks like KoP should be very happy about the latest DLC news. But what's with this archdemon was slain and the darkspawn halted by a "lone, heroic Grey Warden"?
In most of my stories, Alistair played a very big part in that ending, and he would be interested in Morrigan's story.
