Interesting. This shouldn't require a lot of thinking.

You think so?  I'd like to not do one about Loghain, since I know it'll be popular.  Which means I have to reach and think for something else.

Yep. Which is why Loghain has nothing to do with the piece I plan to write.  Alistair has a dark side and it's not limited to Loghain, anyhow. So let the devil out and let them have fun to play

@Sarah, good one. Nice character-study ^^

I agree, LadyD, this one is tough. Everything I've thought about so far have been either too obvious, to too dark, but that's too obvious, as well.   I think inpiration for this one, if it comes at all to me, will take some time.  Merilsell, you are twistedly brilliant, darn you  :)

Edited my typoing :)

...Zevran attacking whatever attacks the Warden is a sign that he wants to kill you instead of trying to protect you? How?

 Oh, I didn't realize backstabbing could be interpreted that way. I meant actual backstabbing for more damage. Enemies who are hitting the main character are more likely to turn their backs to Zevran and the Warden is the only character who is always available and very likely to be controlled by the player.

Sarah1281 wrote...
And no one said that the Warden needed protection but I don't find it unbelievable that people would be inclined to try anyway.

Hm, ist it even possible to protect someone that way while you're engaged in fighting? It's just a standard assumption that always rubbed me the wrong way: Miss Super-awesome with the silver tongue and the quickest blades (or spells) in all of Thedas needs protection.

But that's just me thinking aloud. ^_^

Sorry if I jumped in late and missed the first part of the conversation but what if the warden sux at fighting?  A mage is very squishy, a rogue that focused on rogue skills and not fighting dies quickly so it is not inconceivable that Zev is protecting the warden.  Also as the man who tried to kill her and was subsequently spared he may be always protecting her back to demonstrate how he can be trusted ands he means it when he says he has joined up with the warden.  What better way top show that then to consistently save the wardens life in battle?

I almost always change those tactics for Zev because I usually have him either concentrating on elites or disarming traps within the combat area.  So if my pc is a mage, I usually have Dog watching her back.  Even if Alistair is a LI, he's usually way too busy being the awesome tank that he is.

I think I might end up going for something rather obvious as well, but it's what's coming to me, so we'll see.  I just definitely didn't want to do Loghain.  Erm...

Sarah:  Very nice.  Captures the fact that Alistair is very much "Aw hells no" about this whole thing.

If the darkspawn chronicle is anything to go by, then Alsitair exterminated a dalish clan.
:P

The prompt doesn't really specify Alistair having a dark side. It could be him seeing Duncan doing something questionable, like razing a plagued village.

EDIT: why am I giving ideas? I shouldn't do that, right?

@Merisell, nicely done.

@Sarah, definitely a darker side of him. Vengeance usually is that way.

@ Storm, bald did you say? I like it already. *rubs own head*

This prompt is a little tougher. Since I am more of a visual type than writer for DA....hmmmm....thinking what drunken prirate Alistair might look like since he would be at his lowest and possibly his darkest...hmmmm....

I think it's fantastic, two home runs in a row.  This one just needs some additonal wrestling to make work, which again, is brilliant.  Doesn't mean I won't whine about it as much as possible.....hehehe

Yay, prompy day!

Great prompt Merisel!

Great job Sarah, I can't say I "like" that Alistair did it to make sure the warden didn't spare Loghain, but it fit the prompt perfectly and I enjoyed the ficlet!

I can't wait to see what "out of the ordinay" things our talented group comes up with!

Oh, that is okay, really. Helps to specify the direction, or giving a direction at all. Naturally since it is an Alistair prompt he is meant foremost with that but I didn't want to limit it that way, so yeah. Your idea however...is great. <3

And I'm sorry if I had thought too much like a writer with that prompt .I guess this is hard to visualize as a FA. Sorry :pinched:

I thought about that, too.  And there are several ways I could explore Alistair seeing a darker side in someone, and I'd love to see how others do that, but I think for myself I wanna keep the prompts as close to being from Alistair's POV as possible.

Merisell, nonesense, it just take a little more thinking to get the visual. I think I got scary down so far, but not quite dark yet. (scary is too much I think for this one)  And writing is good, I just have my personal writing energies tied into a WWII novel I writing rather than DA. Image IPB

Someone called X said: "Natural prowess driven by a darker side" (obviously after tent time)

There you go.
Just everyone promise me that you will not add X in the submission!! :(

And now I'm thinking about Alistiar going out and getting himself a darker side by spending a great deal of time in the sun. Image IPB

Sarah, well done!  The end there gave me the cold dark chills Image IPB...Image IPB...Image IPB

And I agree, this will be a tricky one, though KoP does have a good point - it doesn't have to be focused directly on Alistair.  But...

@ Rak, I found it! In Hirsig's Tower there is a ring in Hirsig's chest. Open your inventory after you get it and use it, it will transport you to camp.

Interesting note, the companion ring will take you to Lothering before it was destroyed. Not sure why, as yet.

@ Merilsell, I'm going to wrestle with the idea for a bit, I think, but it's another stroke of brilliance!

Huh. And here I carried that thing around for the whole mad without ever trying to use it. Went through a ton of injury kits, let me tell you!

I may not have gotten that since I killed a certain character early on. Not ringing any bells

Well, he did say something about no one playing the evil side, as well.  Alistair gave a +1 even though he protested, think that needs to be changed!
