-Riordian and the Warden (friend or lover) destroy what he thought was perfect
-Loghain gets to live, no justice for Duncan
-Arl Eamon dosent help him
-The Landsmeet dosent stop this.
-If hardened no one wants him to be king and he looks bad.
Added toghter he sees his surrogate father, his order, his friend/lover possibly, and his whole nation turn against him and his views. That could quite cripple most people's mind and leave them shocked for a while.
That would take a few days for him to be able to think coherently at the least. Also his self-worth is gone, his confidence destroyed, and his life in tatters.
He never would fully recover from that, so for a while his thoughts would be in such turmoil that he would not be able to plan.
He would go between anger, loss, pain, horror, and abandonment that by the time he comes out of it a good deal of time would have passed.

I agree with you about all that, entirely. You may be right. It just seems to me that in all that time, he'd have at least a vague notion of what he might do when he got to his destination. Human beings naturally organize. It's actually quite difficult to get in a car and drive without creating some kind of plan as to where one will go and what one might do when they get there.Giggles_Manically wrote...
While errant Alistair would not be in a fully rational state of mind right now:

@So Your Larry: I never heard that band before. They're pretty good.

@Giggles. A month seems like a really long time, but I suppose it's possible. To me that makes it even less likely that Alistair came up with no plan at all in that time, and I see him as likely leaving immediately. He's writing everything off, and sticking around would just make it even more painful.
I also see him leaving as soon as possible and being long gone by the final battle. I don't see it as likely that he joins up with the Wardens elsewhere, though; I think you've poisoned the Wardens for him. He probably takes work as a mercenary to pay his bar bills.

"Get out of Fereldan" which is why he headed for Starkhaven.
Its sad to see how easily Alistair gets broken here though. Although if the Warden goes US on any of the LI, except Morrigan they are all pretty broken.
I am not looking forward to what will happen but Riordian does make a point that she will listen to when he says "there are compelling reasons".
Thankfully he has my City Elf who wuvs him to pieces that he is still a warden with.
edit- The First part of this scene is what really makes me hold my hand though the most.

I think 'easily' is the wrong word. It's a perfect storm of his worst nightmares.

Yeah, I think that's true. The wardens are hopelessly tainted for him, but I'm not sure that necessarily means that he'd written of fighting the blight in another capacity, if it reaches him, and given his lack of trust in Loghain, I can see him thinking it inevitable. On the other hand, maybe while he feels betrayed, he still retains enough beief in the warden's abilities that he thinks he/she will succeed dispite Loghain's inevitable (in his eyes) betrayal, and that the blight will be stopped in Ferelden. I think he has to think something, though.

A month is very likely, unless Ferelden is really small. Two weeks from Orzammar to the Circle (and back?) is probably one of the most realistic estimation of traveling time on foot.errant_knight wrote...

I also see him leaving as soon as possible. He would have to wait for a ship, though. I assume many people would be packing and trying to leave the city by the time the Landsmeet is done and rumours about its outsome have spread. So it could be a week or two before he can board a ship.

I's not really one action though. It's a....what's the word....something that creates a chain of events....mental blank. Anyway it's not the one action, it's all the things that the action causes, and that you summarized so well.Giggles_Manically wrote...
What I meant by easily is that it takes that one action "sparing Loghain" to ruin his life.

(chemistry) a substance that initiates or accelerates a chemical reaction without itself being affected.
This does not really fit since the Catalyst here can be:
The Warden
Loghain
The Landsmeet
etc...
They are all effected by this reaction here.
People do use it to say it served as a catalyst to start events or something like that.

Yes, well I don't think the chemistry definition really fits here. The non-chemistry definition is "a person or thing acting as the stimulus in bringing about or hastening a result." You sparing Loghain is the stiumulus bringing about everything that follows.Giggles_Manically wrote...

Yeah, she has a really good Morrigan/Cousland comic, which says a lot since I am actually not keen on romancing Morrigan xD http://ximena07.deviantart.com/
I'm so hooked on that comic. It's the only one I follow 100%
